Denniston By The Sea offers very private, secluded, waterfront guestrooms with ocean views and private bathrooms, less than ten minute drive from Victoria's city centre/inner harbour.

Your room has self-serve coffee/tea bar, microwave, refrigerator, bathrobes for the hot tub and sauna, and an electric fireplace, plus TV/DVD/CD/VCR/WiFi, complimentary long-distance calling - North America.

Across the water, the glacier-capped Olympic Mountains greet you as you enjoy a delicious breakfast of fresh fruits and warm baked breads,in the dining area overlooking the ocean.

Relax in the hot tub, at sunset or by moonlight, on the ocean-view deck, or enjoy the sauna and/or a soothing massage (by apptmt,in advance)

Watch the boats and wildlife (binoculars provided) from the huge window in the guest living room, which has fireplace, maps and brochures, menus from Victoria restaurants, and a library.

    From Victoria Inner Harbour Area (Empress Hotel, Victoria Clipper Ferry and Port Angeles/Coho/Black Ball Ferry: Take "Government Street" (in front of the Empress Hotel). Turn left onto "Wharf Street", turn left again over the "Johnson Street Bridge", (the big blue drawbridge) after crossing the Bridge "Johnson Street" changes its name to "Esquimalt Road". Continue on Esqumalt Road for approximately 2 miles to the intersection (traffic light) of Esquimalt Road and "Admirals Road" (there will be a gas station on your right and the "Tudor House Pub" on your left). Continue on Esquimalt Road six streets further to "Grafton Street". Turn left onto Grafton Street. At the end of Grafton Street, you will see "Denniston Park" and a circle (cul de sac). "Denniston by The Sea" (430 Grafton Street) is the Tudor style home atop the rocks, overlooking the water.

  • Directions from airport:
    Take Highway #17 towards Victoria to "McKenzie Exit". Turn Right (West) onto "McKenzie Road". McKenzie Road changes its name to "Admirals Road" at the intersection with Highway #1. Go straight, do not turn, continue on Admirals Road to "Esquimalt Road" (you will see a gas station on your left, and the Tudor House Pub on another corner). Turn right onto Esquimalt Road; continue on Esquimalt Road counting on left side of street only, six streets to "Grafton Street". Turn left onto Grafton Street. At the end of Grafton Street, you will "Denniston Park" sign, and a circle (cul de sac). "Denniston by The Sea" (430 Grafton Street) is the Tudor style home atop the rocks, overlooking the water.

    Watch the the gulls and eagles soaring in the sky, or count the stars and enjoy the moonlight, as you soak away your cares in the hot tub on the ocean-view deck.  You may even be able to feel the wind from the wings of hummingbirds up close and personal.GUEST LIVING ROOM

The view from the huge window of the guest living/dining room changes from hour to hour, from misty-mysterious, to sparkling sunny, to shimmering moonlight.  Here you can watch the ships and boats (binoculars are provided) where eagles soar overhead and hummingbirds hover in front of the glass.  

The living room, which is always available for guests, has a wood-burning fireplace, newspapers, brochures for all the local attractions, menus for nearby restaurants, movies and a library.
    THE SAFARI ROOM -- spacious, enchanting, romantic, and very peaceful.  

King size bed, ocean views in two directions, an intimate bistro table for two, viewing the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountain Range are only a few of the special luxuries Safari Room has to offer.  

We have guests who return again and again to their “Out of Africa” experience.SOUTH PACIFIC ROOM
 -- Your Hostess, Rosemary Denniston, spent much of her life on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii.   She has recreated some of that “Hawaiian Aloha”, in the spacious (400+ sq ft) South Pacific Room.  

This room is designed for those seeking spaciousness, or for families or parties of more than two.  With its King-size bed, day bed, and futons it can accommodate 2 couples, a small group, or a family.
    THE BAY VIEW ROOM --

The cosy Bay View Room, is named for its spectacular water views, even from it's sparkling, private full bath.  The custom decor is accented in relaxing sage green and vanilla tones.  It features a wonderfully comfortable, elevated, Queen canopy-style bed.  Even those allergic to feathers can snuggle in with the luxurious "down like" comforter and pillows.
