  • "Under the Apple Tree" has a private garden, sunken sitting room with fireplace, antique furnishings, a king-sized bed and a four-piece bath including an air-jet tub-for-two. Supremely romantic.

    "Pages", recently restored in the Craftsman tradition, was the library and retreat at ThistleDown and is now one of the Inn's favourite rooms.

    There's an atmosphere of tranquility at ThistleDown House. You will experience a calm purity from your first step to its generous veranda until you fall asleep under a goosedown or silk-filled duvet in one of five bedrooms brimful of individuality, antiques and works of art from around the world. In the morning you will gently waken to taste bud arousing aromas of freshly ground coffee and breads still warm from the oven. Your main course may be asparagus and black forest ham crepe with chantilly sauce, smoked salmon and herbed cream vol-au-vent, portabella mushrooms in demi-glace cream or fillet of rainbow trout. Deliciously creative breakfasts are a social event in the Craftsman-designed dining room. Go off for a day in superbly cosmopolitan Vancouver, but return in the late afternoon for tea served in the shade of an apple tree in summer or in front of the fire in the lounge in winter. Curl up for the evening or visit one of many great restaurants nearby. You will love ThistleDown House!

    It's still 'Outstanding' in every way

    We returned to ThistleDown six years after our first visit and, despite knowing what to expect from the house and the innkeepers, we were knocked-out once again by the quality, the service, the food and, most of all, the people responsible for it. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Greater Vancouver and we look forward to being back again - and this time it won't take anything like six years before we are.

    An excellent get-away

    My parents had an excellent stay at ThistleDown House. They say that each room is an artistic experience, with imaginative decorating which is a joy to explore. The triple-glazed windows made their room very quiet. Tea time was wonderful, and breakfast was a four-course meal which took them ten minutes to describe. Tosh also met with positive approval… an excellent reference from folks who are not dog-owners. In closing, they both agreed that there was not one aspect of their stay which could have been improved upon… the experience was wonderful!

    Best Long Weekend Away EVER

    We stayed a four-day weekend at this B&B and it was absolutely perfect. The couple that owns it was polite, kind and absolutely lovely. Breakfast every day was a fantastic gourmet experience, the rooms were spotless and beautifully appointed, the house and the grounds are gorgeous and peaceful. The house is withing walking distance of the Capilano Suspension Bridge and within easy driving distance of downtown Vancouver, the Lions Gate Bridge and Stanley Park. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would recommend this to any friend or family member, but it isn't really suitable for children, pets or the disabled.

    Pages

    Pages was the library and favourite retreat of a fomer owner. It has now been beautifully restored in the Craftsman tradition and has a sunklen sitting room with fireplkacem, fine antique furnsihings, a king-sized bed, loads of books (naturally) for browsing and a four-piece bath complete with a six-foot cast iron pedestal tub. The perfect place for reading or dreaming.
