The John Lewis House was built in 1900 by master cabinetmaker John Lewis, who came to Victoria from Wales in the late 1890s. Evidence of his craft can be seen throughout the house, especially in the ornate mantelpiece and decorative woodwork in the living room as well as in the wood-panelled vestibule. We’re located a short walk from downtown and also the U.S. ferry terminals (Coho to Port Angeles, Victoria Clipper to Seattle).

    Great place for a wedding!

    October 03, 2012

My wife and I were married in the parlor of this fine home. Our host Becky and Bob went out of there way to assist us and provided the perfect atmosphere for our special day. The location is perfect for sightseeing in the inner harbor area or close to transportation to any of Vicorias sights. Becky is an excellent cook, and Bob is full of insight of about local restaurants and shops. An excellent value.

    Cozy and Friendly

    August 20, 2012

My husband and I stayed at four B&B's in the 2 weeks we visited Western Canada. The John Lewis House was our favourite. Bob and Becky are warm and have a great sense of humour. The location is superb and we rented bikes so we could tour the ocean side which is a couple of blocks from the house. Also to head downtown is only a 10 minute walk. The house is a lovely Craftsman style and although the rooms are smaller, the beds are super comfortable and Becky's touch of a bowl of fresh fruit and chocolates each day make it even more special. The bathroom is modern and clean with a lovely spa robe. We appreciated that there was a bath tub to soak away the muscle aches after a long day on foot and bike. This stay is great value and we would recommend to everyone. MQ

Schönes Haus, schöne Lage, herzliche Vermieter

    August 07, 2012

Super.

    Wonderful time in Victoria

    August 05, 2012

Beautiful, quaint B&B within walking distance of downtown. Lovely owners, very helpful and encouraged us to try the local establishments, which were lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the time flexible. We will definitely return.

    We will always remember

    July 30, 2012

The John Lewis House is the best B&B in Victoria. We stayed there for two days. We liked Victoria very much especially thanks to Becky and Bob. They are wonderfull hosts. Every breakfast was a surprise. Very varied and very tasty. The rooms are romantic and cosy. If you are going to visit Victoria choose John Lewis House, you will not regret it.

An outstanding B&B close to downtown

    July 17, 2012

We stayed for two nights at this lovely B&B just a few blocks from the Inner Harbor/Downtown area and two blocks in the other direction from the water. The B&B is small, with two lovely & cozy rooms on the second floor. The bathrooms are private, but not en suite (the bathroom doors is off the hallway just adjacent to the bedroom doors). The hosts, Bob and Becky, are lovely people who generously share their warmth and hospitality. The breakfast was large and scrumptious. The B&B is close enough to the ferry terminals (for the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and the ferry from Port Angeles...the ferry from Anacortes lands 30 min. away by car) to walk, if one is in good health and shape and isn't carrying much more than a rolling suitcase. Otherwise, a cab ride probably is in order. We walked easily to the downtown area to enjoy window shopping, a variety of good food, and a few of the sights. Other sites are accessible by public transportation.

Lovely room with complimentary confectionery and fruit. Very welcoming hosts, who were eager to assist and offer local knowledge. Delicious breakfast with home made jams and granola. Great location, quiet street. Would definitely return!
