We spent three lovely days at the John Lewis House, and I must say, Becky & Bob made the stay amazing :) From the delicious breakfasts, to the extra comfy beds and great location, the whole stay really exceeded my expectations. The place has a lot of charm being an old heritage house, and its not a far walk to all the tourist things in down town Victoria. Ogden point where the cruise ships doc, and Fisherman's wharf with the floating houses are also just a short walk away. I just need to add one warning for those with large vehicles, parking may be an issue. I didn't think about it beforehand, but we drive a big truck, and trying to find street parking would have been a nightmare! Luckily we were able to use the parking pad at the house, phew! Thanks for the great stay guys!

John Lewis House is a lovingly restored residence in the old part of town. Pleasant rooms , excellent breakfasts, and friendly hosts. Very easy 15 minute walk to the harbor and all the attractions. Becky and Bob performed an act of true kindness. We had left our fleece jackets in our room and had written them off. Our hosts, remembering where we were staying on our last night in Vancouver arranged for their son to drop them off. You can't beat that!

If you like B&Bs you will love the John Lewis House. We couldn't have asked for a nicer stay - great location, great breakfast and great people. Just perfect for us.

According to the pictures we had high expectations, and unfortunately we were disappointed because the rooms and the furniture is outdated
Thank you for your feedback. We’re disappointed you did not like our B&B but would like to point out that our home is a heritage house and we aim to keep furniture and rooms in keeping, as much as possible, with the age of the house. Having said that, of course the beds and bathrooms are modern – and we do work hard to keep the house well maintained!

I do love a good B & B and Victoria has some of the best. My recent stay at John Lewis House was further proof. Wonderful, friendly, accommodating hosts are absolutely essential and Bob and Becky were that and more. The house is lovely, has a great location just mins walk from Cook St. Village, Beacon Hill Park and downtown Victoria. My room was well appointed and cozy with a lovely comfy bed and linens. There were lots of little extras to make my stay enjoyable and delicious breakfasts awaited me in the morning. There are only two rooms for travellers, so book ahead - you won't be disappointed.

I was a little hesitant to stay at a place with only two rooms, but I couldn't have been more wrong. This is a wonderful B&B. The hosts are warm, friendly, and highly knowledgable about activities in the area. It is located just a couple blocks from the beach which has an amazing view of the Olympics across the water. The breakfast was delicious. It included homemade granola, fresh coffee and tea, toast with homemade jams, lots of fresh fruit, a special egg dish each day (try the stuffed crèpe!) and homemade muffins. It's enough food for breakfast and lunch. It's located a short (~15 minute) walk from the ferry and downtown.

Stayed 3 nights in this interesting heritage house run by very friendly and hospitable Becky and Bob, who catered for our every need, including my wife's gluten free diet. A good location in a lovely city.

We had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at John Lewis House. Becky and Bob were great, the room had everything one needs and we had our own bathroom, and most importantly breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend, and would definitely stay there again.

We loved the location not-too-close-to-downtown and that there are only two rooms in the house - nice and quiet. Bob and Becky were great hosts and had good recommendations for dinner options when we asked. Breakfast was more than enough!

Becky & Bob are excellent hosts. They even helped us plan our transportation to Victoria from Vancouver in advance. They know the area well and are very helpful in arranging plans during your stay, if you so desire. Becky's breakfast are absolutely wonderful. The John Lewis House is very nice and conveniently located. We'd definitely stay again if we had the opportunity.

Bob and Becky greeted us warmly, ushered us to our delightful rooms upstairs and gave us maps for our next outing. The rooms were impeccable with lovely touches including fruit and chocolate! Bathrooms adjacent to each room were sparkling clean and in keeping with the historical charm of the home. Breakfast was beyond all expectations with utmost care for every detail, many items were homemade. As hosts, Bob and Becky can hold the highest standard for providing a perfect getaway. The room was quite nice. The fresh fruit tray was a very nice touch. I am a very early riser so they were able to provide me a coffee maker for my room. Overall great value.

This is a beautiful little bed & breakfast just minutes from downtown Victoria. The innkeepers, Becky & Bob, are very friendly as well as being helpful regarding the area. The B&B was clean (and I'm picky about that!) and the breakfasts were absolutely wonderful!!! We would highly recommend staying at this great B&B.

My husband, our baby and I recently stayed at this B&B and we won't have normally brought our baby (and they don't usually allow babies) but it turned out no one else was staying that weekend and they were so gracious and accommodating with our newborn! The rooms and bathroom were very clean and it reminded me and my husband of staying at his parents (in England). The breakfast was so wonderful and it was so disappointing to come back to 'real life' where we aren't able to enjoy a leisurely hour long breakfast of homemade granola, fresh fruit, a hot breakfast and homemade muffins, toast and jam! Loved our stay and loved the location of this B&B as well-so central and my husband particularly liked that the sea side was so close by that he and our baby could walk there before breakfast and watch the sunrise.

The house is historical and charming, the hosts warm and welcoming, the breakfast delicious and the location couldn't be better. Fresh fruit and fresh flowers in our room, books and maps available to help plan our visit and the recommendations and suggestions by the hosts all added up to a special visit in lovely Victoria. In addition to the food, the short walk to the sea front, the proximity to the harbor, we were sent on our way each morning with freshly baked muffins for our "elevenses". Need I say more?

Becky and Bob are great hosts. Their warm welcome and hospitality let us feel like home. They gave us very good recommendations no matter wheter it was sightseeing or food. Be sure to be hungry in the morning, because you will receive an unbelievable delicious and large breakfast. The b&b is located in a peaceful neighborhood very central in the governmentstreet only a short walk to the city center or the ocean. We loved our stay at John Lewis House.

As a retired couple on a modest income we couldn't afford visiting our daughters in Victoria during December. In early January 2013 we had a belated Christmas and the spirit of the visit was definitely enhanced by our host Becky and Bob. Everything from amazing and abundant breakfasts (with take away muffins), to helpful advice, to just chilling in the living room watching football while the ladies shopped - our hosts were more than accomodating - friends really. A short walk to the sea, parks and local restaurants and shops. A perfect mini-vacation. Definitely bring your appatite!

The John Lewis House is a wunderful house nicely located next to the Beacon Hill Park and to the ocean. The bedroom is smartly equipped with a very convenient box spring bed. The private bathroom is well kept, clean and in a nice traditional style. It is accessible via the public stairs but is located immediately next to the bedroom door. Bath robes are available. There was also every day fresh fruits and chocolate in the room. The fresh prepared hot breakfast with lots of fruits, cereals, toasts and self-made jam as well as the daily fresh baked muffins to take away were really delicous. Becky and Bob are a very nice couple which gave us good tips about Victoria and surroundings like hiking trails and many more and they were really helpful. We were treated very courteous and really enjoyed our - unfortunately too short - stay at the John Lewis House. If beeing in Victoria again some day, we would definitively choose this B&B again! Thanks a lot for the very nice time from Torsten & Maria (Germany)

We stayed two nights at the John Lewis B&B in August 2013 and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Bob and Becky were wonderful hosts, giving us great advice on things to do and places to eat in the area. They were very gracious hosts and had a welcoming home. The breakfasts were awesome especially the family recipe for homemade granola. We thorougly enjoyed their company and would definitely stay there again!

My family and I booked both rooms for two nights and had a lovely stay in Victoria. Becky and Bob were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. The location in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from downtown Victoria suited us well. The only downside is the low ceiling height in one of the showers - I suggest asking for the room with a full-height shower if you're just booking one. The breakfast was outstanding - one of the best I've had at a B&B.

Becky & Bob greeted us on our arrival, after nearly 20 hrs of travel...and understood that all we wanted was to go to bed. The bed was comfortable, the fan provided a welcome breeze and bowl of fresh fruit was a lovely surprise. We stayed 4 nights, became addicted to Becky's delicious breakfasts, and loved being able to walk to the waterfront by 2 routes. Definately a do again for us.

We had a great visit at the John Lewis House in Victoria. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed Bob and Becky and appreciated their gift for hospitality. The room was pleasant, clean, comfortable and quiet. Private bathroom just outside the bedroom was no problem at all - and very clean. They gave great ideas for walks, experiences, enjoyable restaurants and ways to get around. My husband had just developed a sinus infection and Bob walked him to a clinic to get medical help. Becky's breakfasts were varied and absolutely delicious. Fruit and extra muffins went with us on our walks every day. They even ordered perfect weather for us . . . well, it didn't hurt! Excellent location if you don't mind a little walk, near the beach and Beacon Hill Park. Would choose John Lewis House with no hesitation!

I love this old house B&B. Bob and Becky are wonderful hosts and make a terrific breakfast. The location is great too, walking distance to everything yet in a quiet neighborhood.

Great value. Good stretch of the legs on the walk into town 10 to 15 minutes depending on your pace and how often you stop to take a look at the neighborhood. Friendly and courteous hosts who are very knowedgeable about what's in town to be seen and places to eat. House located near the end of the street and relatively quiet. I am a light sleeper and only woke up a few times sleeping with the windows open. Bathroom (washroom) recently updated and done very well. Breakfast was bagels w/cream cheese and smoked salmon for the main item; creal or granola, greek or plain yogurt and fresh fruit, tea, coffee or juice and toast with jam. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to BC.

My daughter and I spent one night at the John Lewis House on our way to the Galloping Goose Bike Trail. The owners were quite helpful with storing the bike, providing a trail map of the Galloping Goose and even providing a tool to adjust my pannier. The great breakfast (and muffins to go) was substantial enough to last us until dinner! Very clean, nice and close to the ferry terminal, and super nice hosts!!

Spent 2 nights at the John Lewis House and was pleasantly surprised. Becky and Bob were fabulous hosts. Becky is a great cook and Bob is quite the character. We were very happy with the accommodations and hosts at John Lewis House. We were only in Victoria for a single evening. Our hosts suggested an excellent route to explore to make the most of the short time we had. It was perfect for walking from and back to the house. The breakfast provided greatly exceeded our expectations, and our host generously provided us with some tasty muffins for the road as well.

Wonderful stay at the John Lewis House B and B - Becky and Bob are amazing hosts - accommodated our every request - storing our bikes safely, giving us advice and directions, plus tea in the evening while we relaxed in the front sitting room after an afternoon of kayaking Victoria's Inner Harbour - an awesome breakfast started our day and we cycled to the ferry with Becky's lovely homemade muffins in our panniers!! thanks Becky and Bob - your hospitality appreciated....

I was in Victoria for a quick two-night stay. I unfortunately did not have much time to spend at the John Lewis House, but what little time I had was wonderful. The hosts were helpful, discreet, and all around charming. I was treated to a breakfast fit for a queen, even on the second morning, when I had to eat and leave at an ungodly hour for an early flight back home. The room and bathroom were as clean as any I have ever come upon, and the view from the beach at the end of the street was beautiful. With a fifteen-minute walk to downtown and a bus stop right twenty steps away from the front door, what else can you ask for? I can't think of anything!

If we find anywhere better we will let you know - but for now this is tops! Becky and Bob are excellent hosts. The house was built in 1901 and is furnished in keeping with its age - updated by lovely bed linen and fluffy towels. Breakfast was great and with the muffins included negated the need for an 11 o'clock coffee stop!

My wife and I were married in the parlor of this fine home. Our host Becky and Bob went out of there way to assist us and provided the perfect atmosphere for our special day. The location is perfect for sightseeing in the inner harbor area or close to transportation to any of Vicorias sights. Becky is an excellent cook, and Bob is full of insight of about local restaurants and shops. An excellent value.

My husband and I stayed at four B&B's in the 2 weeks we visited Western Canada. The John Lewis House was our favourite. Bob and Becky are warm and have a great sense of humour. The location is superb and we rented bikes so we could tour the ocean side which is a couple of blocks from the house. Also to head downtown is only a 10 minute walk. The house is a lovely Craftsman style and although the rooms are smaller, the beds are super comfortable and Becky's touch of a bowl of fresh fruit and chocolates each day make it even more special. The bathroom is modern and clean with a lovely spa robe. We appreciated that there was a bath tub to soak away the muscle aches after a long day on foot and bike. This stay is great value and we would recommend to everyone. MQ

The John Lewis House is the best B&B in Victoria. We stayed there for two days. We liked Victoria very much especially thanks to Becky and Bob. They are wonderfull hosts. Every breakfast was a surprise. Very varied and very tasty. The rooms are romantic and cosy. If you are going to visit Victoria choose John Lewis House, you will not regret it.

5 on July 17, 2012
We stayed for two nights at this lovely B&B just a few blocks from the Inner Harbor/Downtown area and two blocks in the other direction from the water. The B&B is small, with two lovely & cozy rooms on the second floor. The bathrooms are private, but not en suite (the bathroom doors is off the hallway just adjacent to the bedroom doors). The hosts, Bob and Becky, are lovely people who generously share their warmth and hospitality. The breakfast was large and scrumptious. The B&B is close enough to the ferry terminals (for the Victoria Clipper from Seattle and the ferry from Port Angeles...the ferry from Anacortes lands 30 min. away by car) to walk, if one is in good health and shape and isn't carrying much more than a rolling suitcase. Otherwise, a cab ride probably is in order. We walked easily to the downtown area to enjoy window shopping, a variety of good food, and a few of the sights. Other sites are accessible by public transportation.

What a fantastic B&B. Becky and Bob really know how to be exceptional hosts and how to do B&B's the right way. Their service was amazing and the breakfasts the Beccy cooked us up each morning was to die for. Bob went out of his way to assist with helping to plan our activities for us, to ensure we really enjoyed ourselves. Great location in Victoria, wonderfully clean and great value. Thanks Beccy and Bob for being such wonderful hosts. Regards Gavin and Jane

We would like to express our deep gratitude for the hospitality of our host Becky & Bob during our stay in the John Lewis Guest House. Even though our stay is only one night, they have tried their very best in helping us in every question or problem we encounter. And the B&B's location is extremely convenient. With such a price, it's just unbeatable! Hope we will meet again. James & Martie

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in May 2012. A good experience from start to finish. Got a prompt reply when I made my reservation, as well as inquiry about any dietary limitations, which I thought was a great idea. Also traded emails about arrival details. When we arrived, we met Becky & Bob. Very cool couple, very down to earth. It was almost like visiting your favorite aunt & uncle that you hadn't met yet. They were happy to chat a little, and gave us info and a bus map & schedule for the places we were going the first day. The house is historic but still has a relaxed feel. Both rooms here are nice, and each has there own bathroom with toilet/shower/sink. This was a big plus, as some places you have to share with other people. Things were clean and neat, and the house was quiet. Neighborhood is quiet as well, and has some very nice looking historic houses. Breakfasts were good, tons of food and a variety of things. Make sure you try Becky's muffin / cupcakes. Homemade, and very good. This was the first B&B we had ever stayed at, and I was leery of someplace that was too hoity toity, frilly or fancy, with proprietors or guests with their noses perpetually up in the air, if you know what I mean. Both my wife and I were thrilled with Becky, Bob, and their house. Made the Victoria trip that much better. We would definitely stay there again, and I highly recommend this place to others.

The John Lewis House B & B was a beautiful residence in a centralized location with the majority of activities within walking distance (beach, downtown, parks, etc.). Becky and Bob were delightful hosts and very welcoming. Breakfast was rather expansive (cereal, yogurt, fruit, muffins, toast, main entree - you get the picture) and always tasty. A nice extra touch was the expectation that any uneaten muffins went with us for later consumption - I enjoyed them for several days after returning home. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Reviewed 28 May 2012 I stayed for just one night while in Victoria on business in late April but would have loved to stay longer. The hosts provided me with a lot pre-arrival advice which was much appreciated. They also made the whole house available for my needs, including a special breakfast to accomodate my schedule. So I had all the best warmth and comforts of home with but with all the nice guest-oriented touches such as a thoughtful goody basket upon arrival and beautiful linens. Nice, peaceful neighbourhood less than a block to the ocean and parks. Easy walk to downtown/Harbour. Lovely home and gardens. Top notch hosts: Bob and Becky are the real highlight - it is people like them that take B&B-ing to a new level.

Bob & Becky made our stay at the B&B very pleasant. The quaint, old house, matched with their warm banter exceeded all of my expectations of what staying at a B&B was going to be like. The breakfasts were other-worldly and the muffins in zip locks were not only delicious and a wonderful touch, but also a great lunch-time snack! Thank you B&B for welcoming us into your home and making our stay so warm, inviting, and over-all charming.

Wonderful historic house near downtown in quiet neighbourhood. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and each has its own bathroom. I rated the room as 4 rather than 5 because the private bath is reached through the hallway, so a bit awkward if you want to pop to bathroom in naked state. However, the bathroom is literally one step from bedroom door. I suggest bringing a dressing gown if you are concerned! Both the bedrooms and bathrooms are top quality. Bed very comfortable. The best part of this B and B are the hosts, Bob and Becky. We mentioned we were vegetarian when we reserved, and without us asking, they produced a list of vegetarian restaurants and even checked to see if they were open on sunday! That's service! Finally, the breakfast was divine: crepes filled with mushrooms, eggs, cream cheese and herbs. Fresh fruit cocktail to start, muffins and toast to fill you up if the crepes were not enough! We will be back, thanks Becky and Bob! Leigh and Vagn

We arrived in Victoria on the ferry from Port Angeles and it only took a couple of minutes to drive to the John Lewis House. We could walk everywhere since the location was so close to the Inner Harbor of Victoria. The hosts had great suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants. Beautiful woodwork in the home. The bedroom was a bit small but nicely decorated and clean. Huge, delicious breakfast with homemade granola, jams, and berry muffins that we had for lunch on our trip to the central part of Vancouver Island. Becky and Bob were very friendly and helpful hosts.

The best thing about The John Lewis House are the hosts, Becky and Bob. They will do their best to help you. The breakfast is great. We felt at home. The room and bathroom is exceedingly clean. We stayed in the pink room and were the only guests at the time. The bathrooms are private but out in the hall so if there would have been more guests it would have been less comfortable, even though each room has its own bathroom. The ceiling over the bathtub is very low so that's not very comfortable. For us, the distance from downtown was a small drawback. we had good weather but if it's raining, the 10-15 minute walk to town might be a problem. But overall it was a good place to stay in.

I stayed at the John Lewis House on July 28th. This place has it all, namely location (an easy ten minute walk to the town hub) and superb hosts who went out of there way to help me with my travel plans before arriving and upon leaving to my next destination. The room is nicely appointed, bed super comfy and the breakfast was yummy. Becky even baked additional muffins for me to take on my trip to the San Juan Islands. Thanks for a short but memorable stay.

This B&B has two wonderful owners Bob and Becky. We had a warm welcome when we arrived in Victoria. We where with 4 people and booked both rooms. The rooms where nice, clean and cosy. The mattresses where very comfortable, so we had a good night rest. Becky makes nice breakfast with plenty of food for everyone. Bob had some good ideas about the lunch and diner restaurants and about things to do in Victoria. It’s a 10/15 minutes walk to the harbour of Victoria and about 5 minutes walk to the waterside. Overall this is a very nice place where we felt at home right away. I would certainly recommend this place! The owners will make sure you’ll have a pleasant stay.

We did not spend long at the B&B itself, but the owners were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The room was clean, well stocked and tastefully decorated. The fruit bowl was a great extra and very appreciated. The wifi signal was strong and the service fast. Breakfast was all homemade and consisted of mueslix, muffins, jelies, jams, rolls and lots of fruit. Everything served was delicious! The only negative part of the review deals with the bathroom and shower. I am not sure what name our room had, but both rooms have bathrooms located outside of their respective bedrooms. The website states that each room has its own bathroom, which is correct, but did not specifically state that they were located outside of the bedrooms. This was problematic because the door handles were loud and squeaky so we were made aware of every trip that our neighbors made to their bathroom during the night. Our bathroom was clean and well stocked, but the tub/shower is located under an eave, meaning that if you are over five feet tall it will be an uncomfortable shower because you have to bend down while showering in order to prevent hitting your head on the slope. Overall we were happy with the B&B, as well as the service, but would prefer a shower with more room.

My husband and I stayed at John Lewis House for two nights. Becky and Bob were the best hosts- extremely flexible about breakfast times, very helpful on finding locations, recommending sites, providing maps etc. They were very pleasant and we had some lovely conversations. Our breakfasts were amazing - homemade granola, organic fruit, hot servings of waffles or eggs, bacon and sausage, juice, coffee, toast. What more could one want? The B&B is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk from downtown Victoria, and very close to Beacon Hill and the ocean walk/jog path. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Everything about the John Lewis House was excellent - honestly, from the Inkeepers, to the rooms, beds, decor, location. The breakfasts were really delicious - - choice of dining outside or inside. The B&B is 1.5 blocks from the water. If you are going to Victoria, the John Lewis House is a "must stay".

John Lewis House in Victoria, British Columbia, is a wonderful gem within a 15 minute walk to downtown. It’s close to the Parliament Buildings, waterfront and the Historic Empress Hotel. A beautiful heritage home with two charming rooms to rent. The beds are very comfortable and each room has a private bathroom. Hosts, Bob and Becky are wonderfully accommodating and can make recommendations on places to dine and things to do and see. Breakfast was amazing. Homemade granola, jams and jellies, fruit salad, yogurt, toast and a lovely crepe fortified us for the day of sightseeing. If you’d rather sit on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine this is the place to do it with a pretty garden in the back or a large veranda out front. We would highly recommend John Lewis House and will definitely visit again.

My husband and I traveled to Victoria for our honeymoon and stayed 1 night at the John Lewis House. It was marvelous. Becky and Bob are fantastic hosts. They were flexible in terms of our arrival time and cooked a phenomenal breakfast for us in the morning. The house is charming (if a bit creaky) and is a 15-20 minute walk from the downtown area. It was certainly the romantic get-away that we were hoping for!
