The Cleftstone Manor, built in 1884 on “Millionaire’s Row”, is one of the few Victorian mansions to escape the fire of 1947. The seventeen guestrooms, each with private bath, and magnificent common rooms are furnished with Victorian antiques and period pieces, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of turn of the century Bar Harbor. Today the Mountain Ash House comprises two suites, each with a unique decor and ambiance. And, yes, each suite has its own quality, private bathroom. A beautiful guesthouse barn was also built on the property to accommodate horse- and dog-friendly guests. The barn is called "The Guesthouse" and it includes a large studio loft with kitchen, full bath, and queen bed. It overlooks a small pasture where you will sometime see Jax, our drafthorse, lying under the apple tree fast asleep. Modern conveniences throughout the grounds of the Mountain Ash House include wireless internet service. Suite rates include a delicious, organic morning breakfast, as well as afternoon tea, wine, and treats. Guests have full access to our common living room with welcoming fireplaces.

Built in 1903, the Inn originally housed the wealthy summer visitors to Mount Desert Island. It is located on an attractive residential, tree-lined street. You'll be away from the traffic of busy Bar Harbor, yet within walking distance of quaint boutiques, intimate restaurants, and the surrounding sea.
