A gracious New England Colonial home, Tucker Hill Inn is situated on lovely grounds and lightly shaded by ancient oaks and maples. The setting suggests rural life, yet the location is convenient to downtown business and shopping. Originally opened as a Tea Room in 1923 the Inn was on a busy trolley stop on the line to Waterbury. Within an easy drive from Tucker Hill Inn are state parks, museums, professional and community theatre, concerts and historic sites. The bed and breakfast was purchased in 1999 and was used as a nursing home for many years. Since the purchase we have totally renovated the structure with all of the amenities available in the 21 century. It features internet access in each room and we have a common living room with a 52 in. tv and a large family style dining room with an eleven foot oak table.

This handsome home is without peer with respect to its collection of antiques and its architectural richness. Butternut Farm was built in two stages by Jonathan Hale, beginning in 1720, the year of his marriage. The interior of this classic Colonial house was painstakingly restored to its original condition by innkeeper Don Reid by exposing the original wide brick fireplaces, uncovering the broad pumpkin-pine floorboards and removing paint from the paneling on many of the rooms' walls.
