Country Oaks Bed & Breakfast

My sister and I spent two nights in the Oak Room (has one king bed and one twin bed) in the main house. What a gem! The house itself was beautiful and the common areas were perfect in their design and appointments (you can tell a lot of thought went into designing the layout and details). We were visiting in the winter so we did not get to enjoy the large wrap-around front porch, walk the property or fish in the lake (we will look forward to this when we return in the warmer months!). Our room was very large, spotless and well appointed. Our en suite bathroom was also large and we especially loved the large claw foot bathtub!!!. The owners did an excellent job building this B&B to fit in seamlessly with its surroundings. They were also perfect hosts -- gracious and helpful without being overbearing. The breakfast was delicious. One last note: this location is a 3-5 minute drive from the square if you are visiting for the music or festivals. But the quality is well worth being off the beaten path. This will now be my go-to place whenever I / we visit the area. I rarely give top rating and this was not the most opulent B&B I have visited but it was, all-around, one of the best.

We wanted a quiet, peaceful getaway with a nature oriented ambiance where we could block out the world and just walk, talk, and read. Country Oaks in Mountain View during the off season was a perfect fit. The Webers are gracious and attentive hosts. We loved the breakfasts and looked forward each morning to seeing what Carole had created. Think California influence with emphasis on fruit and interesting combinations, not Southern style. The restaurants were open in town so we tried them out for dinner. We were impressed with the friendly customer service everywhere we went. If you need entertainment, visit in the summer when it's hopping. If you are a fellow introvert, try the off season. We do plan to visit Country Oaks again.

I have stayed at Country Oaks many times during the years. I have never been to any hotel, inn, etc. that is as relaxing and home like as Country Oaks. It definitely offers more for the money than any place I have visited. Most of the rooms are spacious; and all are comfortable and have wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Breakfast time is always a delightful experience with tasty food and interesting conversations with other guests. The minute I turn off the highway and drive toward the main house, all tension leaves my body. When I drive away, I always begin to plan my next visit. This place is a must for anyone traveling in that area.

we stayed at Country Oaks B&B in June 2012, and were thoroughly en- chanted with it. Hospitality was great, view was fantastic, it was quiet, everything worked, room was large and sunny, shower was CLEAN, and the breakfast food was AWESOME, and home prepared. we are looking forward to returning in the fall. We stayed at Country Oaks Bed and Breakfast Inn for our 38th wedding anniversary. We have stayed her twice before and I might add, each stay is better than the last! The rooms are VERY CLEAN, the views are million dollar views, the food is sooooooo Good, the fishing is GREAT/GREAT/GREAT, the whole experience at Jerry's and Carole's is always memorable. The hosts make every guest feel so welcomed, why stay in a hotel? This is the "IN" place to stay in all of Stone and Baxter Counties. We won't stay anywhere else and will go back again next year. The B&B is easy to get to and easy to drive to Mt. View(no more than 5 minutes max). Try this place, and I know this B&B will NOT disappoint you. Take a walk, yet ...PLEASE remember the Deep Woods OFF.....this is in the country. Love/love/love this place........................ On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 20!

Don't know why it's taken me 8 months to review this great B&B, but here goes...I was in Arkansas for around a week back in Sept 2011, visiting some friends in Flippin, but they were not going to be at home for my first weekend there...so being a music lover and player, I thought I'd head into Mountain View, stay there for the weekend and listen to some good ol bluegrass tunes...The Country Oaks B&B was the perfect spot...just 1 mile from the square where all the music activity takes place, yet just far enough to have beautiful peace & quiet in a beautiful country setting. The B&B's on the square were nice, but it's a bit noisy up there, as the activities go on well into the wee hours. The rooms at the Country Oaks were huge...beds super comfortable and I wanted for nothing...there's TV's in the common area if you have to have it... they have 2 separate buildings, the main B&B and another smaller home which also containe 4 of the B&B's rooms...I stayed there, and ther rooms were still HUGE...could not have been happier, cleaner or more inviting...Jerry & Carole were an absolute pleasure, served an amazing breakfast every morning...great camaraderie amongst all the guests at breakfast...could not have been more relaxed, and I got to go fishing both mornings before breakfast in their private lake/pond, and caught fish both mornings...Jerry & Carole also recommended some good restaurants while I was there for dinner, and were spot on both times...Jacks Fishing Resort & Restaurant was a great place for some fresh, fried catfish...and Tommy's famous Ribs & Pizza in Mountain View...Thanks Jerry & Carole for a wonderful stay...hope to see you soon again!

Had a wonderful esperience. The house and setting both were beautiful. The room was spacious and spotless, with lots of windows offering a beautiful view of the surrounding hills (we were in the Cat Room). Jerry and Carol were gracious hosts and made us feel welcome in their home. Will definitly be back.

I'm way overdue for posting this - we visited the property during the Spring of 2011. Husband and I were looking for a weekend getaway from Little Rock. It's an easy drive to Mountain View and very scenic. The property is easy to find if you follow the directions provided by the owners! Because they warned about it - I checked my GPS and sure enough - my Garman didn't take me there! Anyhow, the property was planned and built for it's present use and that shows in so many, many details. The house is lovely and spotlessly clean in every corner (and I must admit to looking for something to critique!) I found nothing but satisfaction everywhere I turned. From the bucolic rock placement and plantings around the pond and grounds to the behavior of the resident dogs everything we experienced was simply a joy. Hubby loved getting the chance to fish around the pond (and I loved not having to deal with icky fish - strictly catch and release!) Jerry and Carole were helpful when we needed anything and unobtrusive when we wanted peace. We stayed in the cat themed room. Seriously spacious! Bed was quite comfy and enjoyed being able to open the giant windows to take in the delicious spring breezes. The soaker tub is fabulous. I'm not usually one for soaking so didn't really come prepared. Next time, I'm bringing some luscious bath salts or bubble bath to really take full advantage! I love that Jerry and Carole do so much to give back to their community too. They are supporters of the local animal shelter. Carole offers various jams/jellies and a little cookbook for purchase. I've made several items from the cookbook and enjoyed them all! We look forward to returning and I share a previous posters opinion - if I ever run away - this is where I'm going!

If a couple needs a break from the routine this is a wonderful place to get it. My wife and I stayed in the Oak Room. It was awsome! When I noticed there was no TV I thought it was even better!! This was two weeks ago. I'm writing this as I'm trying to get reservations for next weekend. My wife and I plan to stay an extra day this time and see what's outside the room.

We had a wonderful stay with Jerry and Carole. The location was beautiful and we felt very welcome. I enjoyed fishing in the on site lake and it only took three minutes to hook a nice fish. The property was very peaceful and just a few miles from town. Jerry and Carole are amazingly kind and such good people. We enjoyed talking to Carole and Jerry during breakfast. The food was amazing!!! I cannot wait to visit again soon. :)

This is as beautiful and relaxing as it looks. The room was spacious, light and quiet. Carole and Jerry were helpful hosts. And the bonus was that my husband got to go fishing in their private lake each morning and caught some fish while waiting for breakfast time. We look forward to coming back. Lyle and Taffy

Two lovely victorians set in a mountain valley,hugh bedrooms and bathrooms. Delicious breakfasts. Great hosts. Walking trails,fishing pond. Quiet, but only one mile from town square.

Jerry and Carole were great hosts for a recent weekend in Mountain View. Rooms were spacious and the property was beautiful.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at Country Oaks and and enjoyed it just as much as our first stay in 2009. We have already booked it again for the same time next year and can hardly wait to go again. Everything is so laid back, so peaceful & restful. Jerry & Carol are wonderful hosts & serve wonderful breakfasts. Can't imagine anyone making a derogatory remark about this place. My very first comment on my first visit was "if I ever run away from home, this is where you'll find me". It's just that kind of place.

We have stayed in many B&Bs, but this is the best one. It is a house built to be a B&B, not a home turned into one. This makes a lot of difference to your comfort. Jerry and Carole planned it perfectly. Rooms are spotless and so very roomy. Every spot is quiet and relaxing to sit and read. Would come back anytime and will tell everyone I know about the excellent service. Only suggestion I would make is to offer a few more items at breakfast that are no so sweet. The biscuits were a treat. Thank you for creating such an oasis.

Okay, here is the scoop, this is an AWESOME place to stay. If you want action/noise--go to Las Vegas! If you desire solitude, good food, super clean and spacious rooms and million dollar views, then this is the PLACE. We stayed in the "Grandmother's Room," and enjoyed it very much. The room and entire house was spotless. The cookies Carol had for us were ...well let me just say, I did not want a calorie count! Soooooo good. Views, oh my, what views and beautiful grounds. My husband and I needed some peace and quiet in our choice of B&B's. What a find! Close to Mt. View and yet, when we wanted to rest, it was peaceful. Try the walking trails..what fun! In summer, put on bug spray..this is afterall, Arkansas. The breakfast was awesome..... So KUDOS to Jerry and Carole for an absolutely wonderful 36 wedding anniversary retreat at your home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Country Oaks. The inkeepers were very hospitable and informative about the area. The inn was immaculate and the breakfasts were delicious. We would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone visiting the Mt. View area.

Country Oaks is by and far the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed at. I typically choose to stay in B&Bs when I travel, whether for pleasure or for business, and I've probably stayed in at least 7 or 8 of them. Jerry and Carole at Country Oaks do everything to the highest standard of excellence, make you feel at home, and yet leave you on your own enough to help you relax and unwind, too. The food is amazing--I own their cookbook and use it constantly. I can't wait to visit again. --Bethany, Arkansas

Our stay at Country Oaks was nothing less than amazing. The room was breath-taking and I will definitely recommend Country Oaks to anybody! The owners were very informative about the area and very nice. Will be making reservations again!

Our third stay here and it again it was great! We enjoyed sitting on the side porch on a cool morning drinking coffee. Viewing the beautiful trees and wildlife wishing we could live here at Country Oaks. The food continues to be great and the rooms are clean and quiet. Country oaks provided a very nice place for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The room was wonderful, the breakfast was delicious and the midnight snacks made it very special.

Ahhhh! What more can be said about such a great breakfast and such a great bed!

We really enjoyed our stay and would like to revisit.

This guest was a very young, and obviously inexperienced ‘business traveler’. When guests make reservations, and on our website, we strongly urge guests to not use GPS, as it does not work for our area. When she called for directions, she would not stop talking, and driving, and I could not get her to pull over so I could give her directions. I finally had to say, “hush” – so I could find out where she was and give her direction. There are five state highways which converge in Mountain View, a small town, so it was critical that she stop so I could give her accurate directions before she passed an intersection onto a different road. In response to not offering to help with luggage, my husband asked if she needed help, and she declined. For business guests, we attempt to accommodate them with an early breakfast if at all possible and we offered a continental breakfast, and she declined, as she had brought along food of her own. We had coffee available for her in the morning as stated. She also brought food for her supper, which she heated and ate in the parlor (a little unusual). The armoire she mentions was closed, but does not lock, there is no “trick” to opening it, and in seven years, no guest has had trouble opening it. She evidently did not realize that all she had to do was twist the handle fob and pull to open it. We were preparing breakfast for our other guests, and obviously did not hear her when she was leaving, and failed to bid her farewell.

I recently stayed a couple nights for business midweek. I had only read wonderful reviews of the inn, the housekeepers, and the breakfast. My expectations were high; however, they feel extremely short. I came straight from work two hours away to arrive at 8pm. I already had informed them and was told it was fine as long as it was before 9pm. My GPS did not take me there so I called the inn and Carole answered. She quickly informed me in a rude manner I should have read that on the internet. I then asked if she could tell me how to get there and while I was asking if I should turn she told me to shut up.... I was stunned! I finally arrived, completely worn out. She complained about my time of arrival and no one helped me get my bags to my room. They asked what time I went to work and I informed them at 7am. I was told that was too early for breakfast, so basically I was out of luck. Again, I was stunned! A bed and breakfast refusing to make breakfast. They said it was too early but coffee is served everyday at 6:30 to 6:45 a.m. depending on what time they get up, and I didn't leave until 6:50am. They cleaned my room that day and shut the armoire that had all my clothes in it. When I got back from work, Jerry and Carole were gone. I could not get to my clothes. The armoire is very old and I thought it was locked. Come to find out there was a trick to opening it, so why did they not tell me this before? I waited all evening to get my clothes but they did not arrive back to the house until 10pm. The next morning when I was checking out, I never once was told thank you for staying with us. I said "It was nice to meet yall" and again no reply so I walked out the door. This might be a wonderful place to stay if you have no plans, are very patience, and have all the time in the world. The place was very pretty and the room was clean. But face it, in this dog-eat-dog world customer service and satisfaction should always come first. In this case, it certainly did not!

The hosts were great, the view was great, the food was very good, the fishing was very good (13 acre lake).

For a first time at a B&B this has been a great experience. Everything is so nice and Carole and Jerry are great host/hostess. I will recommend it to family & friends.

My daughter and I have stayed here every year since 2003 for her birthday. This year we finally will stay twice. Jerry and Carol are excellent hosts, the grounds and rooms are exceptional. A perfect place to relax and refresh. Looking forward to staying again later this year.

I've stayed in other places in Mountain View, but this one is my new favorite. The house and grounds are absolutely enchanting, and the hosts are lively and interesting, but unobtrusive. The food was excellent. The first night we stayed was a Friday night, and occupancy was high. Breakfast was served buffet-style, and the dining was excellent and delicious. The second night we stayed was on Sunday night, and we were the only ones for breakfast on Monday morning. Breakfast was served to us individually on our plates, with all the extras on the table, and it was just as special as the buffet. Jerry's fruit smoothies are gourmet originals! Jerry is a rocket scientist (no kidding) and he and Carole put their work ethic and drive to succeed in their approach to owning a B&B, which is their labor of love. It is evident in everything they do. I have stayed in some fine guest houses in Europe, and this one definitely stands up to comparison. The only unbelievable thing? The price! It is far lower than other places I have stayed on the square. Sure, you will be missing all the bustle, but what you will have in exchange is a beautiful setting, serenity, and tranquility--all just one short mile from the square.

No other B&B I have experienced comes close to the charm and hospitality offered by Country Oaks. Every visit feels like a warm homecoming. Relaxation, accomodations, and the cordial hospitality of Jerry and Carole are all outstanding. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in this part of the world.

Came with a group of 7 so we reserved the cottage. We had the entire cottage to ourselves so we played games, watched movies and reminisced! It was a weekend I will never forget with gracious hosts and beautiful, comfortable and spacious rooms. Breakfast each morning was great! Thanks Jerry and Carole for helping us make our Mom's birthday special this year!

This is our first visit and Country Oaks is the perfect retreat for rest and relaxation. The beautiful setting, lush grounds, hearty breakfast, and generous catch/release fishing makes it perfect.

This was our first stay at a B&B. We were pleasantly surprised, and look forward to a return visit! The property is well kept – the food is top notch, and the owners are a treasure! Truly memorable and enjoyable!

My husband and I have stayed at Country Oaks four or five times over the last 6 years. We have never been disappointed. We love the soaker tubs! The hiking trails are easy ways to meander about on a morning and the 7 acre pond is a perfect backdrop for a picnic lunch. The breakfasts are delicious and Carole's cookbook has become a staple in our house. The buffet style is efficient for serving guests quickly, and the food is wonderfully homemade, often with local produce. I have an unusual food allergy, which the Webers have been most gracious in accommodating. Due to children, we were unable to return for a couple of years. We were delighted when we finally made it back in November 2008 and found the place just as charming as always. We have both travelled the world and stayed in many luxury hotels, yet this B&B is one of our absolute favorites.

This was our 1st time and we will be coming back time and time again! Loved the owners; wonderful people!!

We loved it!! We go back every year for our anniversary. It feels like we are a thousand miles away and we (reluctantly) go home. We feel refreshed when we leave and begin planning our next visit.

We had never stayed in a B&B before and were somewhat cautious. I don't see how another B&B could top our experience at Country Oaks. Everything was very clean, nice, well maintained and beautiful! We spent seven days at the Country Oaks and did not want to leave. Excellent food, great hospitality and rooms fit for a King. The grounds afford for peace and quiet and also hiking trails. Great people run this B&B and a visit will not disappoint.

Jerry and Carole go all out to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The cookies were a great touch. We stayed in the Brides room and we loved how large it was. The breakfast was of course perfect (We were very full and it was all so yummy.) The smoothies Jerry makes were to die for! They even supplied special dietary needs for us without complaint and seemed more than happy to do it. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My wife and I have stayed at Country Oaks many times in the past 10 years. Each time we arrive, we ask ourselves "why have we stayed away for long?" Jerry and Carole are outstanding hosts. They make all who come to their home feel like long lost friends. The rooms are beautiful and have all necessary amenities. The B&B is situated on 60 acres, beautifully wooded with a picturesque lake!

Country Oaks is absolutely wonderful! Jerry and Carole have done a fantastic job in designing the place and keeping it well maintained. The breakfast is to die for! Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we will definitely be back for years to come.

Such a wonderful place to stay! Very relaxing. Took the paddle boat for a couple of rides. Nice place to walk. Near town, but you feel like you are miles away. Only thing, if you are not on time for breakfast, or not first in line, there won't be enough for everyone. I took a small amount to see if I would like certain things, but when I went back for seconds it was gone and there wasn't anymore coming. I loved the dog and cat. They are part of the family, and it made it so much more homey as I have a pet at home. Go and Enjoy!

Have stayed here twice before, but today we walked early down around the barn and lake. The sunrise over the lake and through the oak trees was very beautiful. Great way to start the day!

The best B&B I have ever stayed in - Absolutely exceptional!

Beautiful Victorian home, all the amenities provided. Relax on the front porch, walk on a trail or fish in the pond. Very peaceful, could hear birds singing.

Overall, an outstanding B&B considering facilities, grounds, location, friendliness of hosts and their accommodations to our needs and desires. Rooms were roomy, quiet, comfortable, and charmingly appointed.

Rooms are great, and thyme rooms available. Drawback to me is dining. The table is set with place settings and the food is set out buffet style. One serves themselves. When the serving(s) are gone that's it for the meal. Not what I like to see for a B&B! My ideal is place settings at the table and either pass arounds at the table or being served at the table by the inn keepers. We even left before dining during our last stay and haven't been, nor will we return.

It is rare that we’ve received a negative comment regarding our B&B or services and we always take into account guest suggestions whenever practical. We thank the reviewers for their comments and realize that we need to modify our website to reflect that our weekend breakfasts are typically served buffet style and also during the week, when we have eight or more guests. Our breakfasts are prepared based on a normal serving size of each of the four or five main dishes served daily; always planning for extra amounts of each dish to cover the variety of appetites of guests and in anticipation that not all food will be consumed. We check the buffet dishes while guests serve themselves to assure that each guest gets a full plate, if it appears anyone will not get a full serving of each dish we prepare more. We offer a full, single serving breakfast, and, when we do individually plate our breakfasts, we place all extras on the table. Had these guests indicated that they wanted additional servings, we would have accommodated them. This review was obviously written recently regarding a stay in 2005, which seems strange. We are unaware that anyone has ever been disturbed about having to serve him/herself from a buffet. We serve coffee/drinks, muffins/biscuits, water and juice at the table and visit with guests throughout breakfast, answering questions regarding area attractions, or ‘whatever’ about the area as our knowledge allows. Never the less, we are concerned that these guests were so disappointed with having to serve themselves from a buffet and that they felt the quantity was insufficient to satisfy their appetites, that they left early. We are consequently submitting changes to our website so that there can be no misunderstanding about how our breakfasts are served.

This is our second stay at Country Oaks and we recommend it to anyone. Jerry & Carole are very kind and they are great cooks. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with awesome views of the surrounding Mountains. We highly suggest you stop in and stay with them.
