The Big Blue House - Tucson Boutique Inn

The location is good, in downtown Tucson, near the 4th street with shops and restaurants and close enough to the Congress Street & Barrio Historico. The B & B is quiet, the room n. 3 is spacious, equipped with every comfort (TV, DVD, a / c manual, fan, small living room with tv, kitchenette with large fridge, microwave, coffee maker, bathroom with decent shower and hair dryer available). You can get breakfast in your room, alone: shame to ask expressly for milk & the, soon replaced. The room has been rearranged and towels changed only on request. You can park your car for free in front at the Inn.

My stay was perfect. Lea changed my room reservation due to upgrades being done on the roof. Thank goodness she did. The new room had a kitchen, was much cooler, and was very quiet. I was in town to see my grandma that was sick in the hospital. After spending the night in the hospital the room was a homey and relaxing retreat. The quiet and the kitchen were exactly want I needed to be able to focus on my grandmother. Thank you.

I stayed here from Aug 14-19 and will be staying here any time I visit Tucson! Lea was so nice and gave a great recommendation for dinner. It's close to campus, quiet and such a great palce to stay! They were very reasonable and gave a student discount-other places didn't! The breakfast pastires were amazing, along with all the food and beverages provided!!! Absolutely loved it and will book room 6 again for next year!!!

My wife & I stayed at The Big Blue House from July 25 - July 30, 2011. We were watching the USA High Performance Volleyball Champs which were held at the Tucson Convention Centre. Thr Big Blue House is centerally located & a flat 20 minute walk to the CBD/Convention Centre. Restaurants/Cafes are also within an easy 20 minute walk at the University and 4th Avenue. The bus stop to catch a bus to the Tucsan Mall is an easy 5 minute walk. Our room included many interesting pictures & artifacts. The bedroom, bathroom & kitchen were clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast that was supplied to our room each day, including lovely muffins, pasteries & fruit juices. Recently, I stayed at the Big Blue House for a week. I needed a a place that is close to the University of Arizona because I was doing some research at the main library. Originally, I had picked room 6 but I was upgraded to room 3. I appreciated it because I had the use of a kitchen. The room was very clean, and nicely decorated. The refridgerator was stocked with juice and yogurt plus there are a wide variety of cereals provided for guests. The owners are very friendly and live on site. I loved being able to sit on the porch every morning and evening. The property is two blocks away from 4th Avenue which is a fun area of Tucson for dining, shopping, and/or people watching. As a woman traveling solo, I always felt very safe at the BBH. Thank you Lea!

We stayed here for a week prior to moving into our new house. The cottage was clean and pleasant. We had cats with us and the owners were wonderful about that. I would highly recommend the Big Blue House to anyone looking to stay near the University, 4th St., and downtown.

It was a good value. Having stayed in Historic boutique hotels in different places in the past, it was fine. What I didn't expect was no common rooms, breakfast was pastries & beverages left in the room (though tasty!). The bath in our room had a glass shelf over the small sink that made it hard to use the sink to brush teeth, shave, wash face, etc. Other than that, it was pleasant and a nice experience. We may try it again, but we may also try out another in the area when we return.

This was my first stay at a B&B. I was very pleased with the hospitality and friendliness of the Innkeepers. After the hectic days we were having on our trip, it was a joy to come "home" and relax, whether it was in the room or sitting on the porch. I would not recommend it for families with small children. But for the older couples looking for romance I would highly recommend a stay!

Room was welcoming. People friendly. Breakfast provisions good. Would definitely book again.

Being a local (in AZ) we got a very friendly welcome and had our privacy during a Mother's Day weekend getaway. The room was decorated in a way that invited a relaxing, cozy environment. There are restaurants, shops and bars only a few blocks away. I strongly recommend to anyone passing through the area to give the Big Blue House a stay.

This well located B&B has been created out of an old boarding house. Our room had a bathroom across the hall and was carved out of the eaves. The furnishings were eclectic and fun. The breakfast was continental as advertised, but disappointing for those of us who really enjoy the Breakfast part of B&B.

We wanted to spend the weekend exploring Tucson (downtown and surroundings). We found this place through a web search so we were hoping the reality would match up with the web site. It definitely did. The location was perfect for walking to 4th Avenue shops and restaurants, and it was very close to freeway access for when we took excursions just outside of town, like to the historic San Xavier del Bac Mission. We also loved our room (#7) with the Art Deco styling, mini-kitchen, comfy bed and large TV for movies -- it was actually hard to leave the room!

Thank you so much...we felt welcomed, safe and comfortable. Bed was so comfy, and having fridge & microwave enabled us to be more self-sufficient. :)

First time and I stayed here and I would stay again. Its an excellent location, close to UofA. The pictures on the website are exactly what you get. What you don't see is the charming entrace, stairwell, and upstairs. Reminded me of my grandmother's house when I was little. It was nice to have a refrigerator, various teas in room and complimentary bagels/pastries and fruit. I would highly recommend.

It was great to spend time in a home-like atmosphere. We were able to get a feel for the city, in safety and privacy. Great location, great hosts, and very pleasant room!

Lea was an exceptionally welcoming host and could not have been more helpful. The property is wonderful and conveniently situated. We enjoyed a coffee on the verandah outside our room. We would definitely recommend The Big Blue House and we hope to return to Tucson and this inn in the future.

Great location in Tucson-charming and historic house-easy walk to restaurants and U of A

This is an excellent location for all the action on 4th Ave in Tucson. The room was beautiful and we were invited to pick fruit from the lemon, grapefruit and tangelo trees. Awesome. I loved my stay at the big Blue House.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay and had a great time. The hosts were very friendly, and should we ever go back to Tucson we will definitely stat at the Big Blue House

We stayed here for a quick out of town trip. Really loved the atmosphere and completely laid back vibe. Just what we needed. I've already recommended it several time and am looking forward to going back.

My wife stayed in room one last month and she has done nothing but talk about it every since. We visited our daughter at The University and found The Big Blue House to be the perfect place to conduct our business / pleasure activities. The rooms are far superior to a conventional hotel. The cont. breakfast was the only negative aspect but we made good use of the kitchen in our room.

Had a great couple of days here- clean and comfortable. Loved walking around the neighborhood and great food close by!

We stayed in Unit B- decorated in antique style...private bathroom across the hall, but all other units have self-contained bathroom. This place worked very well for us- good value, friendly people, and easy to get around Tucson and surrounding areas.

Very nice, clean, and quiet inn. I stayed in a separate apartment away from the main inn. It included a full kitchen. Very neat and clean. Close to Univ. of Arizona.

Stayed over Christmas to visit family in area. Pleasantly surprised. Inn was comfortable, quiet, clean and had plenty of privacy. Stayed in room with kitchen and worked great. Porch was great even though it was raining. Will definitely make this a "go to" destination in Tucson whenever in town.

We stayed downstairs in the safari room. The attention to detail with decorating was impressive. Absolutely loved the wrap around porch, we enjoyed it in the morning and evening. My husband was very happy with the cable, having all the movie channels was a treat. We prefer having our breakfast at our leisure. They supplied wonderful pastries and a fridge full of juice, coffee was great. Try restaurants owned by locals away from 4th Ave.

Room was authentic art deco, spacious, huge tv, own kitchen, fridge stocked and pastries. Normally like some protein for breakfast but managed.

The Big Blue House is perfectly situated and superbly run to provide a comfortable, charming college-town experience in Tucson. The hospitality of Lea Ramsey and her spouse create an inviting atmosphere and combine with an elegant but casual decor to create a comfortable while simultaneously professionally done ambiance. Artistic appointments, extra touches, and updated features and fixtures to present the best of old time and 21st century sensibilities. Altogether a great spot to stay.

Our visit to Tucson was made extra special due to our discovery of The Big Blue House. We were impresses by the pictures on the web site and were not disappointed this time. The room we had was spacious and was far nicer that any B&B we have had experience with. The concept of stocking our kitchen with all kinds of different edibles was most unusual... and we loved it! We were able to prepare meals and/or snack any time we desired. The location can't be beat for central Tucson.

The Big Blue House was a great experience for my wife and I. We stayed in the Safari room and were impressed by the excellent decor and impecable cleanliness. Nice convienient location, great porch. We can't wait till next year to stay in the Zen room.
