Birders Vista Bed and Breakfast

The real value at this bed and breakfast is the friendly demeanor of the hosts. Johnnie and Audrey couldn't have been more welcoming and generous with information about area birds and local attractions. While not serious birders, we had a very enjoyable stay and appreciated their enthusiasm.

It's a great place. Audrey's knowledge of birds is incredible. The back garden is perfect for birdwatching. Strongly recommend.

We stayed in late spring or early summer 2011. We were a group of 4, two couples interested in lots of birding. Johnnie and Audrey were very helpful before we arrived to line up a guide, and excellent hosts while we were there. The two bedroom suite was perfect for our group. We ordered out one night and had a lovely dinner in the backyard watching the quail and other birds. Excellent part of our vacation!

My wife and I stayed at Birders last weekend, unfortunately for just one night. There was much more to do in the area, but we had very limited time available. We came for the hummingbird banding at the wildlife area, but had a great time just sitting in the Birders' back yard, watching the hummingbirds swarming their feeders. We took a few movies just to prove to our friends how many there were. The proprietors are great folks, very friendly. They gave us a great tour of the home, and led us to our room that had a comfy bed and private bathroom, as well as a private entrance from outside. Although we told them we had very simple breakfast needs, they didn't let that stop them from cooking up a load of great food, all served on resort-looking china. We had no complaints at all, and we'll be sure to stay with them on our next visit.

We stayed with Johnnie and Audrey for four days. They quickly became like friends. They accomodated our schedules for our bird-watching outings with great breakfasts, and while breakfast was cooking, we watched birds in their wonderful backyard habitat. Lots of species there. This was our second stay with Johnnie and Audrey and we enjoyed it as much as the first. The hosts are friendly and willing to share their knowledge of the area. The yard is a pleasant place to watch birds or just enjoy a lovely morning with a cup of coffee. It's a great location as a jump-off point for a host of interesting places to visit around the Sierra Vista area.

We visited Birders on a trip to Sierra Vista and the surrounding area. Not knowing what to expect, we arrived and what a wonderful surprise. The home is extremely clean and modern and Johnnie and Audrey were very cordial and flexible. They had information on all of the local restaurants and things to do with maps and history about the culture. We are not bird watchers, but the accommodations were great for our family of 8. People who love birds will enjoy the serenity and solitude of the area. The breakfast and snacks were delicious and met the needs of our adults and children. I highly recommend Birders Bed and Breakfast.

Birders Vista B&B is ideally located for anyone interested in birdwatching or exploring SE Arizona. Hosts Audrey and Johnny are very welcoming, offer good conversation, and are exceptionally knowledgeable about the area. Breakfasts were excellent, especially the biscuits. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. Even in mid-January there were lots of birds in the back yard. I made photos of 4 new (to me) species there, including the shy Bendire's thrasher. We would recommend Birders Vista very highly, and will definitely return in the future.

We visited Birders Vista for a two night stay in June, and returned for a four night stay in August. We really enjoyed both visits! Johnnie & Audrey made us feel welcome, and we enjoyed our chats over breakfast. The breakfasts were delicious, and gave us the energy we needed for our hiking/birding activities. Our room was very comfortable, and inviting. It was nice to have our own entrance, so that we could come and go without feeling as though we were disturbing anyone. Ramsey Canyon Preserve is a short drive away, for those interested in hiking/birding. The other canyons, Fort Huachuca, and the center of Sierra Vista are all easily accessible. For all that we wanted to do, Birders Vista was the ideal location. On our second visit, we were able to spend more time relaxing in the pretty garden at the back. We especially enjoyed taking our morning or evening coffee back there, and watching the birds and the sunsets. All in all, a great place to stay!

We picked Birders Vista B&B because of their terrific location near several places we wanted to visit. For us and another couple, it turned out to be a wonderful weekend. Johnnie & Audrey were gracious hosts full of valuable information about birdwatching and other local attractions. They offer affordable rates, a beautiful home and yard, delicious breakfasts, and very comfortable beds. We will definitely visit them again next time we stay in Sierra Vista - what a peaceful, fun, relaxing weekend!

Saw a 2 night special in the local newspaper and decided to go. Our primary reason to visit the area was Kartchner Caverns which were beyond spectacular; however, we truly enjoyed our stay here because it was so peaceful and relaxing!!! We learned so much about hummingbirds. Absolutely fascinating and the hosts are amazing. They must get so tired repeating the same things, but we never felt they were "dialing it in." We were blown away by the bats in the evening. It is off the beaten path but well worth the drive.

Our visit was too brief but we enjoyed the company of the other guests and the home comforts provided by our hosts. Sitting our in the pagoda in early morning or at dusk watching the birds was a special treat particularly as we were taking a break from Canadian spring.

We returned to Birders Vista in April because we'd had such a great experience staying there before. Audrey and Johnnie again provided a wealth of information about birding in the area, printing out the latest information from local internet groups. We enjoyed their lovely bird-frindly backyard, both with them and on our own. The location, a little way out of Sierra Vista, is convenient to canyons and other birding and hiking spots. The rooms are very comfortable and this time we even had one with our own outside entrance. We went out early to bird and came back to enjoy Audrey's delicious breakfasts...with both strong and mild coffee available. There was slways had a snack waiting for us in the afternoon. I can't imagine more gracious hosts. And the value is excellent. We look forward to retuning again, and would not consider staying anywhere else in the Sierra Vista area. Birders Vista is a lovely B&B nestled in the Sierra Vista Valley. Audrey and Johnny were very gracious hosts and provided us with lots of info on the surrounding area, where to find great birds, etc. (one of the best places is their backyard where we saw several new species we hadn't seen elsewhere). We definitely want to return on a future trip to SE Arizona.

A friend and I stayed at Birders Vista for 5 nights in March, 2010. Our stay was wonderful. We had the suite, two separate bedrooms with a common bath and a sitting room. Far more than adequate. And, with the exception of the owners' bedroom, we had the run of the rest of the house: kitchen, dining room, television/reading room, and study with its Internet-connected computer. Almost immediately we felt at home and as if we were members of the family. Johnnie and Audrey were extremely gracious and friendly and provided excellent advice on the local birds and the local birding places; they even went birding with us one morning. The backyard is a perfect place to sit quietly and watch the morning and evening birds, which flock to the feeders. BV is not located in a canyon, as some of the local B&Bs are, but it is convenient to just about everywhere. It's quiet and relaxed and informal. You're not pampered, but you're taken care of. Breakfasts are great, with guests and Johnnie and Audrey sitting and discussing all sorts of topics. Early breakfasts are available, and there's a fridge to keep food in. I can't imagine a more pleasant place to stay, and I'd go back in a minute if I came back to the area!

Nice private rooms and very hospitable hosts. We were a little disappointed by the lack of birds in the yard but it was small so we suppose that was to be expected. We've also come to expect some standard items at the B&Bs we've stayed in- a good cup of coffee (weak Folger's served here), with 1/2 and 1/2 (only non-fat milk was available), and real butter..... they only served margarine.

We always have around 25 species of birds on our property all year round unless the hawk is by for a meal and all the birds disappear for 30 minutes. Our property is 4 acres in size with a grove of pine trees, some 50 feet tall, an orchard with numbers types of trees, and a walking trail. Our backyard is a very large fenced garden, hummingbird feeders and regular bird feeders with seating areas. The birds can be seen in these various habitats by walking around the four acres. Our bed and breakfast has several types of coffees for our guests. Milder coffee for our quests who have requested this type and stronger coffee - organic blends and Yuban. We serve both types of coffee daily and these are labeled. Most of our guests request low fat, soy, or rice milk and low fat butter, which are available. We provide other types of milk and butter for our guests when they request these types. We also do gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diets for our guests. If our guests need anything, we ask them to please let us know and we will be happy to provide it for them

We enjoyed our stay at Birder’s Vista in February 2010. We had a lovely room with separate entrance. It was a reasonable price too. Early morning in the backyard watching birds whilst sipping coffee and enjoying the view was very pleasant. Breakfast was delicious and one morning Audrey made an extra early one for us as we wanted to get out early that day. They have many bird books and information about the area. The restaurants they suggested were all good. It was good to meet other like-minded guests and share experiences and places visited. It is away from the rather busy town of Sierra Vista. It is within easy access of many of the notable “birding” sites yet more reasonably priced than some that are right there, which suited us fine. Audrey and Johnnie are affable hosts and enjoy their guests. You can be an avid or casual birder or general tourist and still feel at home.

The Birders Vista was a very lovely place with wonderful hosts. Our room was very comfortable and had all the conveniences of home. The breakfasts were delicious and enjoyable with our friendly hosts. It is a very warm and friendly place with all the comforts of home. Jim & Diane Popp

We loved this place especially the Inn Keepers. The Bird Carvings were exquisite and so beautifully crafted to fit the setting. We felt right at home and loved the fire while we sat in the living room and relaxed.

Audrey and Johnnie are vey congenial hosts and the accomodations are very good with large bedrooms, attractive decor and super clean throughout. The location is very good with many attractions within reasonable driving distances.

We enjoyed our brief stay at Birder's Retreat. Johnnie and Audrey were excellent hosts. Peace and quiet and birds right outside the door, which is especially nice for late-rising birders like us. We'll be back!

For birders, Birders Vista is ideal on several points: it is located within easy distance of all the birding locations in the Sierra Vista area; the hosts are knowledgeable and very available for advice, and they cater to the individual needs of their guests; and the accommodations are comfortable and reasonably priced. I have stayed there 3 or 4 times, and these things never change.

We had not stayed in a B&B for quite a while and did not know what to expect. The Birder's Vista was a great experience. It was quiet, had great food, great conversation and the owners made you feel at home. We enjoyed it very much and are considering it for a family reunion!

Spent several nights with my fiancee and we both enjoyed he room and hospitality. And the 20+ hummingbirds circling the feeders in the backyard, Sierra Vista was a delightful place to visit with access to many SE Arizona points of interest. Highly recommended.

Audrey & Johnnie were great hosts, know the area and birds very well, gave us great information of where to go not only for our birding experience but good resturants in the area. The house was clean and welcoming with a fabulous (busy w/birds) backyard. Definately on our return to list!

I enjoyed my stay at Birders Vista B&B a lot. It is not just named Birders Vista because it's in an important birding area, but Johnny and Audrey are excellent birders and can guide their guests to the best places to see special birds. The rooms are comfortable, the backyard is beautiful and a bird haven in itself. And the breakfasts were incredibly good. Audrey and Johnny are perfect hosts--there to answer questions about birding, dining and other things about the area, but then leaving you alone to relax and rest.

We spent 6 days in May, 2009. Birders Vista is an great base from which to visit the many nearby attractions. Audrey and Johnnie provided excellent advice to help us plan our days. The garden is beautiful and attracts many birds and other interesting wildlife. A good place to relax in the morning or evening. Breakfasts are delicious.

Johnie and Audrey were great hosts. Very informed on local birding and sightseeing spots. Food was great and accommodations were more than adequate. Clean and comfortable. We had a party of 8 so we occupied all the rooms. Played cards at night and just had a great time. We will be back -

We wanted a weekend escape from Tucson heat and our stay at the Birders Vista was near perfect. The property is beautiful and full of birds by day, shows off the sunset to advantage, and offers fabulous stargazing from a comfy backyard patio by night. It is near to the Nature Conservancy for hiking and more animal/bird watching. Audrey and Johnnie were wonderful hosts and the food was delicious -- even accommodating my gluten-free diet and my fiance's vegetarianism.

We spent 6 terrific nights at Birders Vista. The location is excellent for birding the best places in SE Arizona. Audrey & Johnnie are perfect hosts and their knowledge of birds and where to go birding is superb. The rooms are lovely, beds very comfortable and you'll really look forward to the delicious breakfasts. You'll be tempted to spend the day visiting with Audrey & Johnnie and watching the array of birds at their feeders. This isn't just Birders Vista, this is Birders Haven!

Eight members of our birding group from Merced, CA spent four nights at Birder's Vista. It was an outstandingly positive experience. Casual birdwatching in the morning; coffee in hand while we waited for breakfast. We saw 15 different species in their backyard during our first hour their. Our bird knowledgeable hosts made recommendation on where we should go everyday. Outstanding facilities, good hosts, and a quiet refuge. We are already talking about a return visit.

We've stayed several times at the Birder's Vista since we enjoy the cowboy gathering each year in Sierra Visat as well as the beauty of the mountains. Birder's Vista is truly relaxing...out in the country, quiet, and accommodating. Audrey and Johnnie are wonderful hosts who make us feel welcome and always have new and interesting information about the area. On one visit we saw two great horned owls courting in the pine tree, and the quail and hummingbirds are always busy there. I highly recommend it!

What a wonderful place to stay. Perfect room, engaging conversation, delicious breakfasts, plenty to do and see in both the house and the surrounding area. Johnnie and Audrey were such a great help with directions and sight-seeing ideas. We're definitely planning coming back in the summer.
