In a world of it's own, yet only an hour away from either Phoenix or Tucson, The Inn at Rancho Sonora can be found amidst towering saguaro cactus and abundant vegetation of the Sonoran Desert. The original spirit of the 1930's Inn has been preserved but modern conveniences are a welcome addition. Inviting rooms w/private baths open on to the walled courtyard where you can savor our glorious Arizona weather. A generous continental breakfast is served in the "morning room". Comfortably furnished separate casitas with full kitchens and living rooms are also available for longer stays or just room to sprawl.

If you have a reason to be in the area, or just want a quiet place in the desert, away from the traffic and noise of Tucson or Phoenix, this IS the place. Over many years, I've tried everything in a 30-mile radius. My parents retired near here and occasionally I would need a hotel when there were too many to stay at their home. I so regret that I only found the Rancho Sonora Inn a week ago. It is charming and tasteful, with an authentic look and feel, and without a hint of the cheesy touches too often used to make something seem "southwestern." We stayed in the "Clementine" room and it was like everything else I saw: the room was a comfortable size, with tasteful furniture, a comfortable bed, and everything was spotless. The center courtyard with fountain is charming and eliminates even the occasionial road noise. They have a pool and hot tub in the back of the property; my husband loved the little waterfall he could sit under in the hot tub, like a warm shower. There is a grill, sink and little refrigerator by the pool. We didn't use that, but it seemed a good option for those staying a few days, as the restaurants are limited in the area. The breakfast room is bright and roomy, and the continental breakfast offers a nice selection. The owner is available and pleasant, but not omni-present (my preference.) It is less per night than the new Holiday Inn Express in Florence, and many times the value. If you are going to stay anywhere between Tucson and Phoenix, I really don't think you're going to find anything you'll like more than the Rancho Sonora Inn.

We just spent the night/day at this peaceful hideaway B&B, 3/10/08. Had we known about it before, we would have visited, but rest assured, we will be back now. The adobe rooms at the Inn, are extremely comfortable, all on the charming patio area. The continental breakfast was perfect also. We did not use the swimming pool area, but it was equally as nice and very inviting. We highly recommend this lodging, especially if you want to be on the "back roads" and not in a commercial motel on busy roads - thanks again Linda, for a great visit !
