Secret Garden Iguazu B&B

  • Inn Details

This is the ideal place to jump-start your visit to the Iguazu Falls in Argentina. High on concept the secret garden is populated by tree ferns and other shade-loving plants salvaged from the slash and burn rural and logging activities decimating the surrounding rain-forest. Our location allows you to get a feel of living in a small South American frontier town and has easy access to urban amenities - supermarkets, restaurants and public transport to the Iguazu Falls and the two neighboring countries of Paraguay and Brazil.

What is missing in the review choices is quality of stay. I give it 5 balls. If you wish to stay in a glitzy hotel room with TV, room service and no interactions with fellow travelers, look elsewhere. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with other guests while sipping the famous Brazil national drink, capirinia while munching on freshly made empinadas after a day at iguazu falls. You meet so many interesting people who are of the same mindset when traveling. John Fernandez is a very intelligent person gifted with a great sense of humor and slightly offbeat style. Beware of the dog. While small and cute, it has a disagreeable side and a penchant for barking at John the owner and the staff. Do not let your child grab for her, as this might trigger an unpleasant event. We will go back in an instant if we revisit the area. Book long in advance for this B&B.

The Secret Garden, however, is not a secret anymore as each of us who has enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of innkeeper John Fernandes tell the online world about our stay in Puerto Iguazu. His warm smile, generosity and willingness to help were exceptional. Additionally, his evening "drinks on the patio" gave us the opportunity to interact with John and the other friendly guests, not to mention his delightful dog Roxy. Besides being a very unique, intelligent and downright interesting individual, John is a wonderful photographer with a photo gallery on the premises. One soon realizes that the simplicity of the Secret Garden becomes sublime. It was a definite highlight of our forty-two day trip to South America. ~Barbara and Don Krumpe~
