We recently celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at the Hoyt House and the entire experience greatly exceeded all our expectations. This was our first visit to Amelia Island and it definitely will not be our last. The Hoyt House will be always be our first choice for accommodations.
Traveled to St. Mary's, GA on a last minute business trip and found the Inn on line. They were gracious over the phone and even more hospitable when I arrived. They accomodated all my needs and made my time away very enjoyable.
Kayla was wonderful, greeting us upon arrival with true southern hospitality. The Inn is gorgeous, well maintained, sweet, spacious and lovely in all respects. Stayed in Room 200 right next to the veranda, which was lovely. The room was spacious, lovely décor, comfortable bed and heavenly pillows. The bathroom was roomy--the shower in the clawfoot tub a little tight and difficult to get in and out, but lovely nonetheless. Breakfast selections were wonderful--fruits, breads, muffins, cereals, coffee, tea, juice and hot entrees of omelets or scrambled with homemade muffins to die for. They made a very hearty picnic lunch for our day trip to Cumberland Island. Mary, Kelly and Kayla were extremely friendly and helpful. Couldn't have imagined anything nicer--would definitely recommend. The location is perfect, quiet, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops and harbor.
Nice clean, and quiet room with chocolates on your desk. Spencer House Inn has an elevator. So, you do not have to walk in steps. Large home made breakfast, which was very good. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.
The Hoyt House was a beautifully kept bed and breakfast. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was one of the best at any bed and breakfast that we have stayed. We hope to go back soon!
Spencer House Inn is a charming, peaceful place to stay with a staff who demonstrates the true art of Hospitality! They are constantly looking out for your needs while letting you enjoy the peaceful atmosphere! Sitting on the porch in rockers and strolling a couple of blocks into the quaint coastal village for food, shopping or to relax in the beautiful waterside park is heavenly! I would highly recommend !
We rented the entire house for the weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful. This is very old and beautiful house that is very cozy and my guest had marvelous time. Great location so we could walk everywhere we need to go. Thanks again Deb and Myrta.
I surprised my sister on her seventy year birthday to a trip to Cumberland Island. Never having been there myself I wondered if it was a good decision. Luckily I picked the Spencer House B&B for our visit. What a marvelous place. To just some it up it way surpassed my expectations
Great inn with pleasant hosts, helpful staff and good food. Clean and neat with an impressive collection of antiques. Mary was very helpful with sightseeing suggestions and restaurant recommendations.
My husband and I spent a night in this beautiful b&B the rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. The best part of the stay were are host Byron about Deborah. Deborahs knowledge of the history of this home was impressive. They both great hosts. We felt very much at home and we will definitely return. Thanks again to Byron and Deborah.
Spencer is a wonderful boutique hotel located near all waterfront sites to visit. When checking in one receives a tour of the place and the ladies could not be more polite and kind. A home-cooked breakfast is included. Love to return.
We received our stay as a gift from our kids. We had no opinion or expectations regarding the Blue Heron Inn prior to our arrival. Our overall rating on this inn is Outstanding! The rating by category, above, will not allow me to rate any category as outstanding. Very strange! Julie, the innkeeper, was the very best hostess we have ever had! Her abilities to prepare breakfast, serve some wonderful afternoon treats, inform guests on local activities, shopping and restaurants are amazing! We departed with the feeling of having been in a very special wonderful place for a short time.
Myta, Deborah and staff were so pleasant. Upon check in we had a nice tour of the property and they showed us to our room just like a luxury hotel. They have a nice happy hour from 4:30-5:00 with free popcorn. The breakfast was freat with nice choices of items. They have a lot of extra things like beach chairs, umbrellas and towels for your trip to the beach along with snacks. Theri pool area is awesome as we really relaxed and had a great time meeting other guests. They are pet friendly and people friendly as well. Couldn't have asked for a better 2 days and we will visit again. Wish these ladies all the luck in the world as they run a first class place.
Owners Mary and Mike along with Kelly & Shanna made our stay more than enjoyable. We came to St. Mary's to wed on Cumberland Island. We have traveled the worlds 5 continents and mostly stay at 4 and 5 star properties. Innkeepers Mary and Mike wowed over every one during our stay. I felt as if we were the only guests at a 5 star property. We were a party of 5 and meet two new wonderful friends Norm and Pat. A delightful couple from Indiana. Mary is passionate in her role and it shows in every interaction. Mike and his team keep the Inn in immaculate condition. While the inn was built in 1872 you would never know it, the wood planks floors throughout the inn are silent, Furniture is clean and fresh fitting the inn like a glove, Walls newly painted. Ample books for reading. Excellent Morning breakfast with vast options and a hot cooked entree. Privacy when you need it and always being available when required. I assure you, no one will be disappointed when you stay at this Inn, Book early as SEP, OCT ,NOV and MAR, APR, MAY are busy months. Cheers, Eric
So many amenities: European 600 thread count sheets, a choice of six gourmet breakfasts, bicycles, 100! live oaks with Spanish moss dripping from them, onsite parking, extra bathroom items including special soaps, front porch with a romantic swing, large computer for public use, and most of all the young women who worked in the B&B were so friendly and helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Located in a very convenient location. You could walk to all the shops. Lots of restaurants were close by also. Enjoyed our breakfast with other guests. They served delicious fresh baked cookies. Provided snacks and drinks.
Recently stayed the weekend at the Hoyt House. Everything exceeded our expectations. Great location, right next to the historic downtown district. Everything is within walking distance. The whole house was great and we really enjoyed our room. Breakfast was outstanding and the staff were all great. Would highly recommend staying here.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Hoyt House. It was the perfect location for a very special day. Gina made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We will definitely make plans to return! Thank you Hoyt House staff and owners for a memorable stay.
This was our first time at a B&B. This place was absolutely awesome. I would highly recommend this place. Rooms were beautiful and very clean. The food was great. The area in general was extremely beautiful and exciting. Thank you for making our first stay in a B&B special
Nice historical Hotel with the original heart pine tough and groove floors. It also has the original interior door and door trim. Close to everything in the town of Saint Marys, GA. A nice place to go to get away from the busy city life. A very good breakfast with so much to choose from. Only about 30 miles from the JAX. Go to Spencer House Inn you will have fun.
Myrta and Deborah, the owners, are friendly wonderful people. They and their staff insured all of our needs were met and exceeded. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! We enjoyed coming home to such a beautiful interior and relaxing in their beautifully lush gardens by their immaculate pool and spa. This is a must if you're looking into Amelia Island.
