This is not a Bed & Breakfast.... It's just a bed. I have no idea why it's even on this site. The day we arrived we noticed there was a coffee maker in the kitchenette, but no coffee. When we informed the owner's son that there was no coffee or filters he told us "There's a grocery store 2 miles down the road." A continental breakfast was never supplied as mentioned in add. The only food in the room was 2 cans of tuna that I'm sure were left by the guests before us. There was no VCR or DVD player as stipulated in the add and the TV only gets 5 channels. There was a dog though.... It barks a lot. New towels were never supplied. There was a slight smell of stale cigarette smoke. The only time the inn-keeper (Sharon) ever came to check on us was the last day of a 5 day stay when she asked for a Credit Card to charge. We did hear her every morning though. She get's up a 6am and bangs around so loud upstairs that she woke up all of us downstairs (and we're not that light of sleepers). As I mentioned, this happened every morning, so if you want to sleep past 6am, find another place. The only positive thing was the view from the patio, but it's Alaska, so beautiful views are everywhere and for what I paid to stay here, I feel robbed. I wouldn't stay here again at half the price.

    Innkeeper Response
I think this last review came from one of the individuals in my last guest party and here is what someone from the party wrote in my guest book, “Sharon, Thanks for a great stay – place is just beautiful and so comfortable. I advise everyone to take a River Fishing Excursion with your son Garrett – we had a blast.” I can take something positive from this review because you learn from everyone who stays with you. I will make better accommodations to keep my new dog quiet and I will seek ways to be less disruptive as I prepare for work in the morning. I provide basics for breakfast upon arrival but cannot prepare the food. Guests have a full kitchenette and a BBQ on their private deck to enjoy their own meals and privacy. It is hard to be everything to everyone but I thoroughly enjoy sharing everyone’s enthusiasm for Alaska!

    Would stay here again!

This is not what you might think of as a typical B&B. It's actually the lower half of a two story home. It's very spacious and the views are spectacular! There is a small kitchenette that is very handy. You can buy your own food and prepare it at the B&B which saves quite a bit of money on eating out and you can save your money for some real Alaskan adventures! There is no dining facility at the B&B and don't expect Sharon to cook for you. If you need something (ie clean towels) you will have to ask for it; Sharon pretty much leaves you alone to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of her home. Sharon knows Alaska like the back of her hand and can make all kinds of great recommendations for things to do. She knows the Best fishing guide! Her dog Blaze is such a sweetie and if you leave your exterior doors open in the am Blaze will usually stop in for a visit. Although you will not receive the same type of hands on service you would get at a hotel you cannot beat the beauty of the Echo Lake B&B it is truly a one of a kind experience!

    Great Place!

This is a beautiful place in the lower level. It has a huge living room with loads of great books to read, very well kept and very nice, with TV, stereo and more. There is a sink and small counter, small ref. which she supplied with milk, butter, english muffins, etc. and a small microwave. She had a selection of cereals and probably more. The private bathroom is also very nice and can be entered from living room or bedroom. The bedroom is also great!. Both LR and BR have outdoor access to a small neat patio and overlooks the gorgeous Echo Lake. You could stay here and just chill. Thanks Sharon!!

My wife and I had a great stay at the Echo Lake B&B. The lakefront setting is great and we enjoyed fishing off the dock. The room is squeaky clean and well furnished with lots of extras. I would not hesitate to recommend this stay.
