This was our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast outing. We liked the location, and felt comfortable with our hostess. We were concerned that the road work going on would be a minus. It wasn't. We would stay here again in a heart beat.... read more

We spent four days at Karen's B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was wonderful. We met other nice people, broadening our horizons. Also, Karen was a lovely hostess, visiting with us all a bit after she served four different delicious... read more

we stayed there summer 2006; great breakfast and very clean but - 1. innkeeper enforce quit and "go to sleep" rules at 22:00; 2. paper walls; you can hear everything from other rooms

Innkeeper Response
It can be so hard to sleep here in the summer because of our "Midnight Sun!" Besides that, many of our arriving guests have come from time zones that are 3, 4 or 9 hours different than here. We do have quiet hours from 10 pm until 7 am to give everyone a fair chance at sleep. So many guests come to us, overtired and exhausted because it's so easy to go-go-go in the long summer hours. The light tricks our bodies into being wide awake or thinking it's "dinner time" when in fact it's perhaps 9 or 10 or 11 pm. We foster the best environment we can for rest so guests have the energy to take in the amazing scenery of mountains, glaciers and wildlife all around us!

I stayed at the Alaska Garden Gate B&B for 2 days in late June 2008; I paid around $80 for my room (the cheapest room there), and was amazed at how nice the B&B was! Karen - the owner - greeted me as I entered, and showed me around the... read more

Live large in the best luxury can offer: the Forest Haven guest apartment has a grand, two-person jacuzzi, high and fluffy King size bed, great views of the mountains from the picture windows, fireplace, kitchen and private entrance.Midnight Sun Gardens is a large guest apartment, perfect for longer stays and families with kids. Full-size living room, several closets, and spacious bathroom give you room to spread out. Queen bed, futon couch, full kitchen, private bath, and private entrance make this a comfortable space for up to 4 people.
The in-room jacuzzi in Arctic Rose is perfect for soothing sore muscles from hiking, rafting, or horseback riding at the end of your day.Bountiful country-style breakfasts are served from 7-10 a.m., with the best fresh strawberreis, rhubarb, apples, raspberries, currants, and herbs from the B&B gardens.
The upstairs Blossoms & Berries room has a separate entrance onto the deck overlooking the mountains. While further from the shared bathroom than the downstairs Blossoms & Berries room, this room has great views in 2 directions and is on the main floor, off the Great Room. The Great Room offers an Alaska-themed library, fireplace, piano, and outstanding views of the Chugach mountain range and Knik Glacier.
Pioneer Peak, the tallest in our area, rises majestically from the valley floor to 6600 feet, with Knik Glacier tucked into the valley at its side. It's not unusual to see eagles soaring on the thermals, and moose visit the B&B to nibble from the fruit trees. The complete kitchen in Forest Haven offers couples the chance to cook-in, which can be nice on a romantic getaway or handy when staying for several days.
Forget Me Not is a large and airy, sunny room, with everything you need for a relaxing getaway or longer stay. The kitchenet and dining table make it easy to heat up a meal or enjoy snacks or dessert in the privacy of your room. Jacuzzi, TV/VCR/DVD, CD player, and WiFi join the other amenities of large towels, a heavenly pillow-top Queen bed, and the grand views out the bay windows.
