We stayed in the Southern Magnolia room. It was listed as having a TV in the room. The TV is actually in a closet and is bolted to a shelf. It was impossible to watch in this location.

1.6 out of 5Disappointed
May 01, 2013
My husband and I have stayed at several B&Bs and were disappointed with this one. We were celebrating our anniversary and booked the zebra room. The bedding on the throw pillows and shams looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a very long time; they were yellowed and stained. We immediately put them on the couch. When we returned to our room around midnight we realized there was either a restaurant or bar behind the B&B that was playing loud music and you could hear the people outside. This went on until approximately 1:30. It rained throughout the night, and when we woke up in the morning the floor had water that had come in from the other part of the basement. The bathroom had a musty smell to it; the area around the bolt on the floor of the toilet next to the shower was disgusting. After seeing all of this we decided to skip the breakfast and go to a restaurant. My husband took the keys up to the house and to let them know we were checking out and to tell them about the water. I cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast or friendliness of the hosts since we did not stay. When we checked in, however, I did ask Kiera what would be served for breakfast the next day and was told probably eggs, bacon or sausage, pumpkin scones. The main reason my husband likes to stay at B&Bs is the breakfast specialties. I think we would have been somewhat disappointed in this breakfast. I can't speak for any of the other rooms, but would recommend staying away from the zebra room. We did have a nice weekend in Birmingham, however, and enjoyed our anniversary...

4.4 out of 5Wonderful First B&B Stay!
April 14, 2013
My girlfriend and I had never stayed at a bed & breakfast before, so we decided to give it a shot while we were in Birmingham for a weekend. Turns out it was an even better experience than we had hoped! The owner, Sheila, was very nice and answered all our questions since we had never been to the area. The rooms were a little quirky, but in the best way possible (we stayed in the Zebra room and would do so again). We were greeted with cookies at the door and a delicious homemade breakfast in the morning. Our only issue was that a $22 tax was never mentioned on the reservation website until we had submitted our credit card information and were informed about the charge in an email confirmation. Will definitely be staying at Cobb Lane if we ever make it to Birmingham again!
