Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast

  • Inn Details

Welcome to Bay Avenue, a seaside Bed and Breakfast located on the bluff at the very edge of Kachemak Bay in Homer, Alaska. We are situated between the famous Homer Spit and Homer town center. In addition to our scenic views, we offer guests a quiet, comfortable and convenient starting (or ending!) point for any Alaskan Adventure. The mature spruce trees surrounding the house are favorite perching spots for the many bald eagles in our area. Observe the lagoon and tidal flats below us where shorebirds, waterfowl and Sandhill Cranes gather. Sit back and view the 15-20 foot tides ebb and flow, or the fishing fleet heading for the grounds, all surrounded by majestic mountains and glaciers. Bay Avenue Bed and Breakfast Inn offers both the privacy of a hotel and the friendly atmosphere of a B&B. With seven rooms in the Main House along with two separate units, there are many options for singles, couples and group travelers.

Homer is located 225 miles from Anchorage by highway. It is a 50 minute flight on Era Aviation (.flyera). Both the flight and the drive offer great scenery. If you travel the highway you should plan for 5 hrs between Anchorage and Homer, more if you stop to enjoy some of the many scenic vistas along the way. Arriving in Homer by road: continue on the highway through town towards the Spit. After crossing Beluga lake (lake on left, slough on right) follow bend to the left at the top of the hill. Your are now on Ocean Drive, Bay Avenue parallels this street to the right, you may turn on "E" street, Douglas street or "B" street to access Bay Avenue. Bay Avenue B&B is between Douglas and B streets.

We stayed at Bay Ave B&B in July 11'. We called the night before arriving. This B&B has every moder commodity you can ask for, flat screen Tv's, comfortable beds, spectacular kitchen, beautiful views, a lovely staff and the food was absolutely delicious. My only regret is not having booked this B&B for a few extra nights. I've already recommended this place to a lot of our friends and plan to go back. Our best to Lori and her family!

Just right for family of four. Breakfast was great and very helpful hosts. They were kind enough to even lend us additional rain gear. Thanks for the great service!

    Great B&B, grab it!

We enjoyed our recent stay at this remodeled B&B. They recently had a devastating fire, and the rebuilt property is new and fresh. They allow use of the kitchen and barbecue grill for preparing your own meals (or freshly caught halibut). We didn't use this option, but some other guests were doing this, and it looked like great fun. Lori was also flexible with breakfast. We had to leave really early one morning for a deep-sea fishing trip, so she left out things for us to prepare our own breakfast before we left. Overall, we'd definitely stay there again, but this would be a particularly good property for several couples traveling together, a large family, or a family reunion.

Lori and her family are wonderful hosts. Extremely personable. Wonderful breakfasts were prepared for us by Lori. Comfortable rooms with a beautiful view of the mountains and bay.
