Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards 2011-2012:
Special Category Winners

These awards recognize inns that stand out in an unconventional way and provide travelers with a very unique B&B experience.

Best Themed B&B
Featherbed Railroad Bed and Breakfast Resort, Nice, CA

"Our stay at The Featherbed Railroad was one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the Wild Wild West room. The way the room was decorated was fun, our room was clean, and the breakfast was always very good. The innkeepers were very friendly, and they have games to play and a selection of DVDs to watch in your room. We had so much fun that we plan on returning to try a different room. I think we are going to try the Orient Express. You just cannot beat the experience. We recommend the Featherbed Railroad to anyone that is looking for an unusual, fun place to stay."

    Best B&B with Unique Animals
    The Social Goat, Atlanta, GA

"If you're looking for a fun and unique place to stay, this is it! The small barnyard and two adorable miniature goats (Sherman and Tallulah) give unbelievable charm to this Atlanta bed and breakfast. We were able to spend quite a bit of time in the large pen area with the animals, and learned a lot about them from owners Kristie and Paul. You have to watch Paul play with Sherman; he can get the goat to hop around on his back legs; hilarious! The goats really do like to socialize and I ended up with one of them in my lap at one point. Spending time with the animals was really the highlight of this place for us. It was something different and we enjoyed it immensely!"

    Best B&B for Motorcyclists
    The Blue B&B, Savannah, IL

"We love this place! The rooms are always very clean, the air is always turned down nice and low—which feels great after coming in from a long day's ride on the motorcycle! Tony goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. It's the perfect location, too: right on the main street, walking distance from all the bars and restaurants. You won't be disappointed!"

    Best Boat & Breakfast
Sea Suites Boat & Breakfast, Saugatuck, MI

"We had a very nice and peaceful weekend getaway. This is a very cozy place to escape for a short weekend break. The hosts are friendly and they both make you feel like you are at home. There are plenty of things to do and nice places to eat close by as well. You can't beat the relaxing hot tub on the top deck to cap off the day. It's a great value and a quiet area. We will be coming back."

    Best B&B for Tech Geeks
Bernerhof Inn Bed and Breakfast, Bartlett, NH

"Melissa and Len have done a fantastic job with the decor: beautiful colors, luxurious bedding, updated bathrooms. The mattress was the most comfortable I have ever experienced. Breakfast, prepared by Melissa and served by Len, was outstanding (homemade granola, yum!). My husband loves gadgets, so the iPad, flat-screen TV, and computers on every floor made him very happy. I can't say enough about the kindness and generosity of Len, who was very responsive to any request we made. We will definitely recommend this B&B to our friends and can't wait to return ourselves."

Best B&B If You Have a Special Diet
Chehalem Ridge Bed and Breakfast, Newberg, OR

"This is the perfect place to stay after tasting wine in the Dundee area. The views from the B&B are fantastic. We were served breakfast on the deck overlooking wine country. The innkeeper, Kristin, is also an unbelievable cook. She knows how to alter her dishes for food allergies. I have gluten intolerance and my husband is allergic to eggs. She had gluten-free, egg-free cookies in our room, and for breakfast, she made us delicious lemon ricotta pancakes! The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. We love the wine country room because it has a large jetted tub."

    Best B&B for Finding Zen
Santosha on the Ridge, East Stroudsburg, PA

"I just came home from two days of absolute serenity. Both Leslie and Amy were wonderful innkeepers and made me feel at home. The views around this B&B are truly beautiful and the inside is spotless. If you are looking for a place to go to get away from the stress of everyday life, this is it."

    Best Locavore B&B
    Glasbern, Fogelsville, PA

"Glasbern is among my 'bucket list' inns. It's in my top 10 favorites. The rooms are fabulous--spacious and with wonderful amenities. I love the history of this inn--many of the buildings were former barns, saved from destruction and now providing historic accommodations filled with all the romantic amenities that you seek. However, I think the high point here is the food. Much of the meat comes from heirloom livestock raised on the organic farm here. The food is outstanding, from breakfast to dinner. Go, eat, and then relax. That's what Glasbern is all about."

    Best B&B with a Pub
Forty Putney Road Bed & Breakfast, Brattleboro, VT

"Tim and Amy, the husband and wife innkeepers, were extremely friendly and helpful, offering useful dining recommendations and activities to do both in Brattleboro and the surrounding areas of Vermont and western Massachusetts. They are also self-proclaimed 'beer geeks' and offer a beer tasting every Saturday in their small pub, which is highly recommended! The inn is in a great location, with hiking trails going right through their backyard and just a short walk away from downtown Brattleboro. Amy also makes awesome breakfasts (when we stayed it was stuffed French toast and bacon with Vermont maple syrup). My wife and I have only positive things to say about Forty Putney and are looking forward to our next visit!"

    Best Architecture
Inn on the Lake, Amsterdam, Netherlands

"You know your time was well spent when you are sad to leave. Such was the case with the Inn on the Lake. This locale proved to be the highlight of our 10-day trip to Holland. The room, food, and view were only outdone by the remarkable service provided by our hosts Pamela and Karel. From pick-up service at the airport, to transport cards for the local bus lines, to wonderful suggestions for places to go, how to get there, and things to do once you arrive--the Van Der Shaars are unsurpassed. We arrived as strangers, but left as friends."
