Best of 2011-2012 Awards:
Top Ten U.S. B&Bs

The Best of U.S. Award winners are not ranked, but are listed alphabetically. Winners were chosen based on the abundance of high-quality reviews they received, among other qualifications. Some excerpts are quoted below:

Atlantis House, Key West, FL

"We searched for over a year for a special place to celebrate our anniversary, and our stay at Atlantis House was the perfect choice! Our room had a private entrance, which was so peaceful and relaxing to come back to after seeing all the sights in Key West, which are just a short walk from the inn. Captain Steve and Kayla are so warm and welcoming. Captain Steve took us on the most amazing fishing trip, and then prepared the fish for dinner the following day. Dinner was excellent, as was the company. You have to try some of Kayla's Key Lime pie, it is divine! Our stay at Atlantis House far exceeded our expectations, and we hope to return again to this little piece of paradise!"

A Storybook Inn, Versailles, KY

"In all my travels I've never encountered a more enchanting inn. Elise, Tamara, and Veronique have spoiled my sweetie and me rotten. The 'Somewhere in Time' suite is spacious and gorgeous—absolutely stunning—and the food divine. Every comfort is provided for and every desire anticipated. The attention to detail is impressive beyond belief. The atmosphere is one of elegant comfort and gracious warmth. We are so happy here that we may never leave!"

Berry Manor Inn, Rockland, ME

"Cheryl and Mike could not have been more gracious, kind, or thoughtful. The outside of the inn is beautiful, and the inside is comfortable, well-designed, and luxurious. I've never stayed anywhere prior or since where every desire was anticipated. A fluffy towel, a corkscrew, chocolates with turn-down service. It seemed as if they read our minds. The breakfast was excellent. A late night piece of pie was scrumptious. But they also provided snacks, soft drinks, bottled water, and coffee in a common area for guests. Their help in making dinner and wine tour reservations resulted in excellent experiences. We loved visiting Maine, and the Berry Manor was the icing on the cake."

Chocolate Turtle Bed and Breakfast, Corrales, NM

"Our autumn vacation in Corrales, N.M. was a beautiful adventure that centered around our stay at the Chocolate Turtle Bed and Breakfast. We received a warm and sincere welcome from bed and breakfast owners, Nancy and Dallas. The 'at home' atmosphere continued throughout our six-night stay. Each morning we were served a delicious and abundant gourmet breakfast. A variety of snacks were continuously available. Our bedroom was painted with the vivid colors of the Southwest. We especially loved our shower that had a unique pebble floor. Our private patio was the perfect place for an end-of-the-day glass of wine. We particularly appreciated the recommendations and advice that Nancy and Dallas provided for us. At the end of the day, we could pull up a chair on the back veranda and view the Sandia Mountains, watch the bunnies, the quail and even a road runner who frequent the backyard. The Chocolate Turtle is definitely a place we would like to return to and would recommend to others."

Hilltop Manor Bed and Breakfast, Hot Springs, AR

"I would like to say that I love and appreciate Faith so much. She puts an enormous amount of time, effort, and personalized attention into Hilltop Manor, and as a result it absolutely shines. This place is truly more than a bed and breakfast--it’s an experience. My husband and I were married at the manor and it was perfect in every way. It was wonderful to have so much undivided time with our closest friends on our special weekend. The wedding itself was perfect, and Faith was there for every step of it. She fluttered around and made sure that I didn't have to worry about anything during the reception. We will definitely be back for anniversaries, and I recommend it to everyone!"

Park Avenue Manor, Savannah, GA

"Maurice and Glenn were the most perfect hosts in the world. Maurice put me at ease the minute he opened the door. My room was clean, comfy, and cozy. He gave great recommendations on where to eat and then had a tour company pick me up directly at the house—saving time and energy on my part. The breakfasts were delicious and the brownies and sherry finished the night off perfectly. My room was decorated tastefully, as is the whole house. I also spent a bit of time on the backyard patio, which was peaceful and provided shade and a cool breeze. I would recommend Park Avenue Manor to all of my friends and family."

The Columns Bed and Breakfast Inn, Dillon, SC

"In a word: impeccable. The service and the accommodations are beyond anything I've seen in a bed and breakfast. Michael is the consummate host and pampers his guests like they are honored friends. The house is decorated beautifully but the real treat is the rooms. The little details abound, from the exquisite linens, to the super comfortable bed, to the elegantly appointed bathroom. I soaked for what seemed like hours in the huge claw foot tub using the bath salts and gels provided. Michael serves a delicious and elegant breakfast, and it was clear at breakfast that it wasn't just us that felt like we were in the home of our dear friends. Everybody else did as well."

The Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast, Lynchburg, VA

"The inn has been painstakingly restored by Mike and Kathy, with no detail overlooked. It's historic, but not 'old'—everything is in perfect condition and every inch of the place is meticulously kept. Mike and Kathy go out of their way to be the best possible hosts, even picking us up from the train station late at night and preparing breakfast-to-go on our last morning for our pre-dawn departure. And Mike's breakfasts are not to be missed! Unique, tasty, and tremendously healthy. You won't find the standard fried eggs and greasy bacon here! The four-course breakfast was the best we had during our two weeks on the road."

Rabbit Hill Inn, Lower Waterford, VT

"We just returned from our 19th annual weekend at the Rabbit Hill Inn. We travel all over the world, and this is by far our favorite inn/hotel. Brian and Leslie are masters of the art of making guests feel welcome into their 'home' and feel pampered. The food is first class and plentiful. The rooms are expertly decorated, each with a different, distinctive feel. We've stayed in at least seven different rooms. Our favorite is the Jonathan Cummings. Whether you enjoy socializing in the Snooty Fox pub, doing a puzzle in the sitting room by the roaring fire, or relaxing in the hydro-massage tub in your room, this is certainly an oasis for forgetting all the stress of the 'real world.'"

Cameo Heights Mansion, Touchet, WA

"The Cameo is an exceptional experience! The rooms are spacious, unique, and so comfortable it is a challenge to leave and visit the excellent wine country nearby. We recommend staying with Alan and Deanne who make all their guests feel like members of an extended family. The breakfast and dinners are beyond description --equal to the best restaurant experience in presentation and dining experience. The menu features local seasonal foods accompanied by an extensive wine list of the finest local wines selected with assistance of Walla Walla winemakers. We will be back to enjoy the hospitality and excellent experience of staying at the Cameo in a beautiful part of the country."
