BedandBreakfast.com offers these myth-busters to demonstrate the value of B&Bs for price-conscious travelers:
MYTH: I'm going to have to share a bath or walk down the hall to my bathroom.
SURVEY SHOWS: The BedandBreakfast.com survey shows that more than 97% of B&Bs offer private baths. Nearly 53% have whirlpool tubs, and nearly 16% offer multi-jet or steam showers.
MYTH: I'll have no privacy; I'll have to eat with the preacher or the innkeepers.
SURVEY SHOWS: Nearly one in two B&Bs (45%) offer guests private tables for breakfast and/or the option of having breakfast served to guests' rooms.
MYTH: B&Bs are like sleeping at Grandma's house.
SURVEY SHOWS: Au contraire, unless Grandma is into luxury amenities. The BedandBreakfast.com survey showed that 70% of B&Bs offer high thread count sheets, and over 85% have feather beds, down comforters, or pillow libraries for guests. More than 76% offer in-room TVs; 56% have complimentary in-room DVD or video players and fee-free movies. Nearly 40% have iPod docking stations and/or computers for guest use.
MYTH: B&Bs are not for business travelers
SURVEY SHOWS: The amenities offered by B&Bs for business travelers may come as a big surprise. Beyond the in-room TVs, iPod docking stations, alarm clocks, and free phone calls, more than 80% of innkeepers will make breakfast available early for road warriors on a tight schedule, and many will permit business travelers to invite clients to join them for breakfast. Nearly 60% of B&Bs offer fax and copying services, and one in three B&Bs has corporate or government rates for business travelers. One in four B&Bs even have frequent stay programs. Nearly 50% of B&Bs offer stocked guest pantries or guest refrigerators eliminating outrageous mini-bar fees. Add to that free Wi-Fi access at most B&Bs plus the complimentary breakfast and upscale amenities, and it's clear that B&Bs make a cost-effective choice for business travelers. Frequent travelers insist on online reservations, and nearly half of B&Bs offer this option.
While travelers lament high gas and airline prices, BedandBreakfast.com is pumping out vacation relief. B&B travelers who book a two-night stay online at www.BedandBreakfast.com through September 1 will receive a $50 bonus rebate check. An economic stimulus for B&B travel, BedandBreakfast.com thinks travelers should spend a couple of nights -- not a fortune -- on travel. Knowing that travelers are looking for shorter stays, reservations need only be two nights or longer to receive the vacation bonus; there are no hidden booking fees.
