HELLO MUDDAH, HELLO FADDAH, LOVE B&B CAMP "A LOTTAH"

Send the kids to camp, and say goodbye to whining and hello to wining and dining at adults-only camp

Who says kids get to have all the fun? BedandBreakfast.com has scoured the country for B&B camps, and we've found plenty of great offerings for grownups in search of getaway fun. Parents can choose their dream camps, featuring everything from campfires to photo safari tours, wine tasting to waterfalls. Best of all, many camps continue through October - some are offered year-round. At BedandBreakfast.com B&B camps, feather beds replace cots, and strolling area art galleries replaces craft time. Unless otherwise stated, all rates are quoted per couple (double occupancy) excluding tax and gratuities, and are listed alphabetically by state.

Flightseeing, Fjords and Fotos: Alaskan Adventure Camp at Pearson's Pond Luxury Inn & Adventure Spa, Juneau, AK: Camp starts with a romantic welcome of chocolates, flowers, soft music, and rose petals waiting in your room. Each day brings a different Alaskan adventure: a Taku Glacier Lodge flightseeing adventure and feast; a land and sea photo safari; a cruise along Tracy Arm Fjord; a bear country tour; glacier hiking and more. Return to the inn each night to a relaxing massage or a soak in a starlit hot tub beside the waterfall garden. The seven-night package includes lodging, breakfasts, snacks, evening refreshments and the six featured activities mentioned for $2,449 per person, through September 2007.

Ghostbusters Camp at Mason House Inn B&B, Bentonsport, IA: No need to sit around the campfire telling ghost stories when you can bust one in person. Camp director and professional ghost hunter Christopher Moon offers campers instruction on ghost hunting, followed by dinner, then the chance to see a ghost during an overnight stay at this haunted inn. Campers will share their experiences over breakfast the next morning. Camp is just $142 per person or $205 for two people sharing a room, and is offered year-round.

Brewmaster Camp at Kingsley House, Fennville, MI: Camp starts with a taste test of over 70 recipes to decide on the favorite flavor. (Hey, it's a tough job, but :) Skilled brewers work with campers, helping them craft their own beers - a three- to four-hour process. Return two weeks later to bottle and label your brew. Camp includes taste-testing, two commemorative brewery glasses, all brewing ingredients, bottles, 11 gallons of your own customized brew, personalized labels (upon request), and skilled brewers to assist campers during brew time, for only $200. Camp is only available to Kingsley Inn guests and is offered year-round. B&B double rates are $115-$215; campers are offered a 50 percent discount for their return bottling trip.

No need for a uniform; you'll get it at Camp Ellis at the Inn at Ellis River, Jackson, NH: Enjoy Midweek Romance Camp at Camp Ellis anytime through the end of September 2007. Located in the heart of New Hampshire's White Mountains, there's plenty of hiking, biking, waterfalls for skinny dipping, and even moose tours nearby. This midweek camp includes your choice of a camp uniform consisting of two matching inn T-shirts or caps or two hand-thrown pottery mugs (not created at craft time), a picnic lunch, and a postcard for the required letter home. Offered Sundays through Thursdays through September, the two-night camps cost $279-$549; three nights, $399-$649; and four nights, $499-$829.

No Whine Wine Camp at Stirling House B&B, Greenport, NY: Long Island Wine Country campers participate in seasonal work in the vineyards, work with talented winemakers to blend their own white and red wines, learn about the chemistry of winemaking, experience wine and food pairings, then relax in premier accommodations. The camp experience is a four-day, three- night foray into the world of wine, including visits and tastings at many local wineries, daily breakfasts, al fresco lunches at wineries, a farewell dinner with a five-course wine and food pairing dinner, plus a case of wine from the vineyard where campers have worked and tasted, for $749 per person. Wine camp is offered five to six times per year. The next camp will be October 15-18, with additional dates planned for 2008.

Guaranteed "I Do!" at Proposal Camp at Mast Farm Inn, Valle Crucis, NC: Nervous about popping the question? Bring her to "Proposal Camp," and the innkeepers will help anxious beaux to set the scene. It all starts in a with a romantic candlelight dinner in the Mast Farm Restaurant. Couples returns to their private cottages to find rose petals strewn on the bed and a chilled bottle of champagne; on the bed is a glass slipper with the ring inside, set on her pillow. She'll turn around and there on bended knee (all rehearsed in drama camp prior) will be the husband-to-be with furrowed brow and "will you marry me" as his practiced line. Camp includes a second night to bask in the romance and a "honeymoon" cake to share. As a bonus, when engaged campers leave, they're given a bridal bouquet of fresh flowers plus a $200 gift certificate to return the following year for "Anniversary Camp". Some apprehensive husbands-to-be might say this camp is priceless, but this $1,416 value is priced at $1050, and is offered year-round.

Fishing and Fireside Marshmallows at Camp Berry Springs at Berry Springs Lodge, Sevierville, TN: Innkeepers here have fond memories of camp fun but not the outside bathrooms and uncomfortable cots, so they've created camp for adults. Daily activity choices for "campers" include fishing for bass or catfish in the inn's ponds, ping pong matches in the pavilion, hiking, mountain biking, craft time with crochet, and nightly marshmallow roasts in the fire pit; campfire songs optional. Add to that nightly turndown service, lavish breakfasts and evening desserts, and you know what separates adults' from kids' camp. All activities above are offered to "campers" who visit through August 29. Nightly rates: $149-$229.
