BEDANDBREAKFAST.COM MEMBERS SAY "TANKS A LOT"
WITH FREE GAS FOR B&B TRAVELERS
B&Bs across America offer relief at the pumps just in time for Memorial Day & summer travel season
Austin, TX -- Just as travelers are contemplating Memorial Day getaways, the cost of a gallon of gas has reached another all-time high. According to a recent American Automobile Association survey, the cost of a gallon of gas reached a national average of $3.07, higher than the previous high reported in August 2006, and 17 cents higher than last month. USA TODAY (May 9, 2007) reports that the average gasoline price will hover near or above the $3.00/gallon price throughout the summer travel season, setting a record for the season. Once again, BedandBreakfast.com members are coming to the rescue, putting money where guests need it most -- in their gas tanks. Guests who fill up on hearty breakfasts at participating B&Bs will find themselves treated to their own fill-up through the BedandBreakfast.com "Tanks a Lot!" promotion, in which B&Bs in 28 states offer free gas to their guests.
For a complete list of inns participating in the BedandBreakfast.com "Tanks a Lot!" promotion, go to www.BedandBreakfast.com, and click on Free Gas Promotion in the lower left corner of the screen to find some "wheelly" great deals. Be sure to mention the BedandBreakfast.com Tanks a Lot promotion when booking. Note: All offers are based upon availability for periods specified for consecutive night stays, and do not include holiday periods; some blackout dates may apply. These offers may not be combined with other offers, do not apply to previous reservations, and are valid in 2007 only.
Here are a few examples of Tanks Lot promotions, listed alphabetically by state.
Inn at Locke House, Lockeford, CA: Innkeepers invite guests to take $25 off their bill when they stay two nights, Sunday-Thursday through July, 2007.
Maples Inn, New Canaan, CT: Return to the days when a gallon of gas cost less than a bottle of water. Stay two or more nights Sunday-Thursday and receive $20 off the cost of the room to top off your tank. Mention "free gas promo" to qualify when booking.
Beall Mansion, Alton, IL: This offer is as easy as 1-2-3. First, stay two or more consecutive nights, Sunday-Thursday through September 2007; second, mention Tanks a Lot when booking; third, receive a $25 QuikTripR Gas Gift Card at check-in.
Admiral Peary House, Fryeburg, ME: Return to 2003, when the Admiral Peary House innkeepers drove across the United States to their new inn, and gas cost $1.50 a gallon. Stay two or more nights, Sunday-Thursday through September 2007, show your gas receipt, and receive a credit on your room rate equal to the difference between what gas costs today and the 2003 price, up to a $30 limit.
Classic Rosewood-A Thornwood Property, Hastings, MN: Stay two nights in a luxury or ultimate fireplace-whirlpool suite through September 2007, and receive the "good ole days" package with a $30 voucher for gas, plus a voucher for a $2 movie and 50-cent popcorn. Stop into the local co-op dairy for a 35-cent shake, then take in the pre-1970 cars at the Saturday night summer "Cruise In;" you'll feel like you've just stepped into Happy Days!
Aunt Sadie's B&B, Branson, MO: Stay any three or more non-holiday nights through August and receive 15 percent off your room rate to ease the pain at the pumps. You'll enjoy a savings of up to $72, so you'll have a little extra for Branson's great shows!
Captain Wohlt Inn, Hermann, MO: The longer you stay, the better it gets. Come by Amtrak or car, stay for one night and get a $10 bill upon arrival. Stay two nights, and receive a $20 bill. Stay three nights, and two crisp twenties will stretch your travel dollars.
Inn at Ellis River, Jackson, NH: No matter what the price at the pump, your gas is on the house when you enjoy two or more nights in a fireplaced room, taking advantage of alternate fuel in front of your wood-burning fireplace. They'll calculate the distance from anywhere in New England and base your gas refund on New Hampshire's current price at the pump (regular grade, at 25 miles per gallon), maximum $75.
Catskill Lodge, Windham, NY: Stay three or more nights Sunday through Thursday from now through September, and receive a $25 credit on your room for use toward gas. Better yet, go car-less and take advantage of the lodge's shuttle service from Manhattan - just $40 each way.
Copper Crest Inn, Hendersonville, NC: Fill your car with gas and this inn will fill your tummy with dinner. Simply present your gas receipt at the inn's restaurant and that amount, up to $50, will be deducted from your dinner bill when you stay at the inn anytime between now and August 30, 2007.
The Victorian Ladies, Newport, RI: Stay two nights, Sunday-Thursday through September at the regular rate and receive a $50 credit toward travel expenses. Stay three or more midweek nights and receive a $100 credit.
Gillum House, Shinnston, WV: From now through the end of September, the innkeepers will accompany any guest staying two or more nights to the GoMart and pay the difference between their price and $1.79 for up to 15 gallons. Stay weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day and also receive a pass to the Sunset Ellis Drive-In to celebrate its 60th birthday.
