WELCOME TO JABBERWOCK INN! Our Monterey Bed and Breakfast Inn was named after the Lewis Carroll poem from his famous book, "Through the Looking Glass." The ambiance of our seven room inn is light-hearted, warmly comfortable, and decidedly upscale.

My friend and I just returned from a 2-night stay at the Jabberwock Inn. John & Dawn are incredible they were extremely accommodating and made amazing suggestions on where to eat and all the things to see while we were in Monterey. In addition, the breakfast OMG the breakfasts were amazing. I have already recommended this Inn to friends for their future trips to Monterey. Truly exceptional people and an amazing Inn -- felt like it was home.

Please join us each morning for a freshly prepared, elegantly presented breakfast. The full breakfast is made up of such delectables as Snarkleberry Flumptious, Phantasmagoria, or another wondrous fulsome treat.

This Craftsman-style home was built in 1911 for Eva & Wilber George.

In 1937 the Widow George gave the property to the Victory Mission Sisters who held Catechism classes for all of the Catholic youngsters in New Monterey.

In 1972 the convent was sold to a private party who then leased it to several different religious groups for use as a popular retreat over the next nine years.

In 1981 Barbara and Jim Allen purchased the home and converted it into a bed and breakfast, one of the first on the Monterey Peninsula. Jim Allen, a former volunteer with the Los Angeles School District, fell in love with the Lewis Carroll tales while working with the children. He brought "Alice's story" to life at Jabberwock Inn.

The inn changed hands in 1996, when it was purchased by Joan and John Kiliany. They owned and personally operated the inn until they sold it to the present owners/operators, John Hickey and Dawn Perez in August 2007.
This large Victorian room is quite romantic with an enormous mahogany claw-foot king bed, an elegantly-tiled fireplace and a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath for two. A pleasant Monterey Bay view also awaits you if you choose to stay in the Mome Rath.
