The Coral Room:Off-Season:$95-$115;In-Season:$130-$150(No Charge for Tax). This is a large sunny room with southern and western expossure. The room features an Eldred Wheeler NH Sheraton canopy bed with a tiger maple headboard. In addition, there is a beautiful attached bathroom with cathedral ceiling, marble floor and shower and two opposing skylights. The marble is Botticino, which gives a feeling of unassuming luxury. The room has both TV and A/C. Furnishings includes antiques, oriental rugs, an overstuffed reading chair for late mornings or quiet times. On a summer night with a chill in the air or a great golf show, you will find yourself in the livingroom flanked by an oversized fireplace and two large portraits of Captain John Linzee and his wife Abigale. Google has the history, but at Fox Pond, he is best remembered for shooting at Col William Prescott, Bunker Hill, who as well left a piece of history to the family. Although the room has a traditional design, it boasts a large screen tv and a sunny bay window for the avid reader. AC is available throughout the house.
The Pond Room:Off-Season:$175-$200;In-Season:$200-$235(No Tax). Every guest is touched in some way by the size and elegance of the Pond Room. With the 19' window wall and two floating dormers in the roof, you can watch the tops of 60' oak trees or the passage of the moon. Loise Lubetkin, published writer and correspondent wrote:"the addition includes a two story "Window Wall" that has the effect of erasing the boundary between the indoors and the outdoors in a breathtaking way." The room is perfect for special occasions that will be remembered for a life time. The Cloud Room:Off-Season:$95-$115;In-Season:$130-$150(No Charge for Tax). This is a large sunny room with eastern and southern expossure. The room features a new Eldred Wheeler "Acorn" bed with a tiger maple headboard. In addition, there are antiques/oriental rugs and an overstuffed reading chair. Attached to the room, is a full marble bath with a large corner shower, glass on glass door, and window facing the gardens and pond. The marble in the shower and floor is Rojo Coralito, which provides a passion of its own. Hand painted clouds in the Turner style are found on the ceiling and walls to give the room a magical illusion.
The Pond Room is possibly Marblehead's largest and most romantic room. Features include 23' cathedral ceiling, fireplace, AC, TV, oriental rugs, Eldred Wheeler furniture, French doors to private deck, view of the koi pond, double sink vanity, large corner shower and jacuzzi tub. The entire bathroom is Crèma Marfil Marble and light is provided by two crystal sinks back lighted to provide a warm glow. Perhaps the most dramatic element is the 19’ window wall, which provides breathtaking view of the surrounding oak trees or the lighted koi pond.Guests are greeted by an expansive porch on a Cape with a long covered entry. This is a house that has a strong impact on guests and visitors, not because of its size but because of the almost magical blend of architecture and detail. As one guest wrote:" If God is in the details, there's a little bit of heaven for your guests here."
In Gardening and Deck Design, Maureen FitzPatrick writes:" The result is a landscape that defies the boundaries between man-made and natural worlds." Guests will find over 1,300sf of decks and this large patio surrounded by gardens and rock ledge. There is a path from the property to the ocean, which can be walked in five minutes. Hiking and biking trails are accessible providing a comfortable 30 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride to Marblehead center.Fox Pond is a sanctuary for birds and an occasional fox. Guests can listen to a quiet waterfall and watch the koi swim through beds of water lilies and iris. The landscape is distinguished by natural rock ledge, stonewalls, large oak trees and a 50’ reflective pond. Fox Pond is much more than a B&B, it can be a retreat and a sanctuary if you are open to the natural beauty and stillness in the gardens.
