Rich and warm colors add to the ambiance while the fireplace adds to the romance. The private bathroom is appointed with a Jacuzzi tub.
Enjoy a full gourmet breakfast in the formal setting that was once the dining room of a multi-millionaire industrialist and United States Congressman. This room is also available for private celebrations and dinners. The main parlor of the Mansion is exquisite and decorated in fine period antiques. The focal point of the room is the massive ebonized marble fireplace, crowned by a magnificent mirrored over-mantle containing the inlaid initials of the home original owner, Hon. George West. Hanging from the 14 foot high ceiling is the original Waterford once gas fired chandelier.
On the second floor, overlooking the old mill pond you will find the San Souci Room. The chandelier above the bed is the original Waterford gas fixture. These two parlors are seldom empty. Guests enjoy reading and listening to music during the day, sipping wine and meeting new friends during the early evening and just relaxing after an evening at the performing arts center or a dinner at one of the many fine restaurants.
After a day at the famous track, the museums or just touring the area, return to the quiet charm of the Mansion and relax on the 70 foot Victorian porch. As you listen to the muted roar of the waterfalls just 300 feet to the south, and look out to the flowering gardens you can almost imagine yourself in another time.Just off the foyer is a magical room. The Mansion library and music room is elegant in its simplicity. Lipstick red walls trimmed in cream and gold frame the magnificent 1884 rosewood grand piano. Relax, read or for those so inclined, sit behind the piano and listen to the same sounds played over 120 years ago.
The Mansion is a place for all seasons and celebrations. The warmth of the fireplaces, the smell of mulled cider, the glow of candles and the rich decorations make the Mansion a holiday place to be. During the day, visit Saratoga where you can still go door-to-door and shop in small boutique shops for those special gifts. If shopping is not on your schedule consider a day at a spa and relax in the warm waters that have made Saratoga so famous.
