Review Kelly Place Bed & Breakfast, Cortez, CO

Photo Album

There are 7 rooms in the lodge, all with queen beds and baths in the room. The family-size room also has 2 sets of bunkbeds. Basic and medium lodge rooms have one set of bunks. The adobe-style lodge was built in the mid-60's by pioneer horticulturist George Kelly as his retirement home. Kiva-style fireplaces, a comfy library/lounge and an enclosed flagstone courtyard offer the perfect setting for relaxation and chatting about the day's activities.
The deluxe cabin has a queen bed, daybed, trundle and a rollaway. It has a wood-burning fireplace, a kitchenette, an enclosed flagstone courtyard with firepit and charcoal grill, and a full bathroom with whirlpool tub. It is perfect for a romantic weekend or an extended stay. The view of nearby Sleeping Ute Mountain from the lodge courtyard is a constant reminder of the beauty and majesty of our Mother Earth. The mountain's peak is nearly 10,000 ft. Kelly Place is situated in McElmo Canyon at an elevation of 5,480 ft. Temperatures here tend to be about 5 degrees warmer than in Cortez.
The duplex cabins are located near the entrance to a small canyon which offers access into Canyons of the Ancients National Monument from Kelly Place. Explore the on-site Ancestral Puebloan ruins with a self-guided tourbook. Descend into a fully restored kiva and wonder about those who lived here a thousand years ago.
The 2 duplex cabins also have a queen bed and full bath in each, plus kitchenette and a fantastic view of the redrock cliffs. The deluxe lodge room has more space, more windows, and more mirrors than the other lodge rooms. It also has a private covered balcony overlooking the courtyard.
