We stayed in the Leonardo room. The location is brillian, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet at night, and clean. However, we found this a slightly odd experience. The roving concierge who met us was very welcoming and helpful, but we had to fill in forms to say we would and would not do this that and the other, and even leaving our luggage in the communal hallway on our last day required another form to be filled out that required us to specify exactly when we would collect our bags, and confirming that we would not turn up 'earlier or later'. We didn't really want to fit our day around this, and took our bags to the Penn Station baggage store). We also had tea facilities and a coffee machine with filters, but no coffee. Despite a request, no coffee materialised. This is definately a bed - not a bed and breakfast. However, the location and comfy bed are great for a short term crash pad. View Reviewer Info

We regret that our guests' request for coffee was not met... someone on our staff dropped the ball... we are always happy to fulfill such requests and fulfill them timely.
As far as filling of the forms is concerned, we do have to arrange for our roving concierge or substitute to be present by appointment and help the guests pick up their luggage from our communal hallway; the minimum paperwork is necessary as we feel responsible to insure security of the luggage especially that every piece left in the hallway is accounted for.

The El Greco is even more lovely than the photos on the web site. The main room is enormous with plenty of space for the king bed, night stands, armour, dresser, flat panel tv and two comfortable club chairs.
Checking in and out was simple and personal. We were very apologetic to Jon when we called from Orlando to say our plane would be late. He couldn't have put us more at ease and when we finally arrive in NY, he gave us accurate times that it would take from the airport. He was waiting for us when our cab pulled up, helped with my bag, showed us the door keys and led us straight up to our room. The "rules" everyone talks about are far less intrusive or pushy than many high end hotels I've stayed in. Basically don't let anyone in and don't loose your keys. We never felt unsafe in or outside of the house. When it was time to leave, there was no trouble picking up our bags at the designated time.
If you are going to NY and don't want to be stuck in a cramped hotel room in the middle of a sea of neon, stay here. If you want to know what it's like to be a neighborhood dweller and live like a local, stay here. If you want to get away and have a real break from reality while being steeped in the best part of it, stay here. View Reviewer Info
