The location is outstanding, wonderful neigbourhood, exceptional quietude, but lag od fresh air due to oldfashoned windows. Very friendly reception and service. Very cosy rooms equipped with everything you might want. However Bed not quite satisfactory and lighhts too dim. Marvoulous bathroom, everything very clean.Worth the price. Kitchen equippment discourages cooking, but adequate for breakfast. Be prepared for small and endless staircase, not suitable for leg disabled.

My husband and I stay at small apartments when traveling in large cities and West eleventh was just as pictured online and described. It "met with expectations" because all the details provided are accurate. We had a happy 5 days and nights in a wonderful neighborhood with attentive hosts. Would recommend to anyone looking for alternative to hotel stays.

We stayed in the Leonardo room. The location is brillian, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet at night, and clean. However, we found this a slightly odd experience. The roving concierge who met us was very welcoming and helpful, but we had to fill in forms to say we would and would not do this that and the other, and even leaving our luggage in the communal hallway on our last day required another form to be filled out that required us to specify exactly when we would collect our bags, and confirming that we would not turn up 'earlier or later'. We didn't really want to fit our day around this, and took our bags to the Penn Station baggage store). We also had tea facilities and a coffee machine with filters, but no coffee. Despite a request, no coffee materialised. This is definately a bed - not a bed and breakfast. However, the location and comfy bed are great for a short term crash pad.

Innkeeper Response
We regret that our guests' request for coffee was not met... someone on our staff dropped the ball... we are always happy to fulfill such requests and fulfill them timely. As far as filling of the forms is concerned, we do have to arrange for our roving concierge or substitute to be present by appointment and help the guests pick up their luggage from our communal hallway; the minimum paperwork is necessary as we feel responsible to insure security of the luggage especially that every piece left in the hallway is accounted for.

Our stay at West Eleventh was a wonderful experience for our first time in New York. Location is great, lovely leafy streets to stroll around, great bars, restaurants and cafes which I think were the highlight of our stay. Within easy reach of buses and subway. Would definately stay in this area again. There was not availability in the same room for our 6 night stay so the first 2 were in the Leonardo which has the best bed ever. After our long flight from Australia I can't believe how jet lag didn't cause sleep disturbances and I think it was due to this bed. The next 4 nights we moved to the El Greco apartment which I preferred. The move was seamlessly handled by staff. Therese and staff very helpful during our stay. El Greco was on an upper level, which meant stairs, but had a much nicer view and was lighter, and more spacious. It was more private because we didn't have to go through the owner's apartment with double doors to lock. The Leonardo was a little darker because it was below street level and I felt we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy from the street. The lamps in the Leonardo seemed to cause us a problem. I must admit I didn't report this at the time because we moved to the other room and I forgot about it. Both rooms were exceptionally clean. Would recommend.

We have returned from a wonderful stay in Leonardo room in West Eleventh Townhouse. Everybody who we dealt with, both before and during our stay was so kind and helpful. After a hard day sightseeing, it was wonderful to come 'home' and esperience complete peace and quiet, and our every need was catered for. It certainly beats everything else we have stayed in previously and should we return to New York, we will definately be back.

The El Greco is even more lovely than the photos on the web site. The main room is enormous with plenty of space for the king bed, night stands, armour, dresser, flat panel tv and two comfortable club chairs. Checking in and out was simple and personal. We were very apologetic to Jon when we called from Orlando to say our plane would be late. He couldn't have put us more at ease and when we finally arrive in NY, he gave us accurate times that it would take from the airport. He was waiting for us when our cab pulled up, helped with my bag, showed us the door keys and led us straight up to our room. The "rules" everyone talks about are far less intrusive or pushy than many high end hotels I've stayed in. Basically don't let anyone in and don't loose your keys. We never felt unsafe in or outside of the house. When it was time to leave, there was no trouble picking up our bags at the designated time. If you are going to NY and don't want to be stuck in a cramped hotel room in the middle of a sea of neon, stay here. If you want to know what it's like to be a neighborhood dweller and live like a local, stay here. If you want to get away and have a real break from reality while being steeped in the best part of it, stay here.

We stayed in the Monet after the Leonardo last year...we enjoyed the great location, easy access to mid town theatres and somewhere relaxing and homely to come back to... and the friendly owners who still talk to us despite our efforts to flood them out!

I've stayed in all 5 rooms, and love them all. Each has a personality and different style. Great value $$ and you get to experience one of the coziest and enchanting neighborhoods in NYC. No on site dining-- but dozens of great bistros, delis and restaurants very close by. Basic kitchen is well stocked-- with bakeries and groceries nearby. Staff is very flexible and goes out of their way to make your stay memorable.
