My friends and I return year after year for our "luxury hiking" trip and we are never disappointed - with anything! We love the Inn, the location, the food, the ambience, and our hosts. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

What a magical find The Inn at Juniper Ridge is. Situated in splendid isolation--we didn't leave the property! It was that good! Mary and Norbert are fantastic hosts--hugely welcoming--western hospitality with a contemporary twist! We are impatient to return for an extended visit next year.

We can't imagine being disappointed with the Inn at Juniper Ridge. We stayed in the Cowboy Suite for three nights to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The location is breathtaking, the accomodations are superb, and the hosts were wonderful. We were very impressed with their hospitality and willingness to share information about the surrounding area as well as provide so many extras to make our stay memorable. We highly recommend this Inn and want others to visit and not miss out on this incredible blessing.

I wish I'd had more than one night to stay. The countryside is beautiful, and a great place from which to explore the John Day area. The rooms are fully-equipped and comfortable. I learned about llamas, too! Did I mention breakfast? Yum!

I love it when I find lodging that is unique, such as the Inn at Juniper Ridge. My friends and I had barbeque tri tips and cold beers out on the deck, with views that seamed to go on forever. Mary and Norbert seam to be well suited for the Inn business, as they were very friendly and took care of every detail. Why would you want to spend another night in a motel room with options like this?

We stayed at the Inn at Juniper Ridge for two nights while traveling through Oregon with our two teenagers. On arrival Mary & Norbert welcomed us with a glass of wine on their beautiful terrasse, which offers the most amazing view. During dinners we had great conversations about life and traveling and Norbert explained and showed us a lot about local wildlife. Mary is an excellent and creative cook, she even prepared extra dishes for our vegetarian family member. The highlight for the kids was Panda, the llama greeting them both mornings at their window and eating out of their hands.

We spent three wonderful days at the Inn at Juniper Ridge. The Inn is in a beautiful location overlooking nearby valleys and mountain ranges. Mary and Norbert Smith are wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They are very knowledgable about the local area and had lots of great ideas for hikes, fishing, and places of interest to visit. The Cowboy Suite had lots of space to relax and enjoy the lovely views of the Eastern Oregon Mountains. One morning we had a surprise visit from Panda the llama, who came right up to peek in our window. The suite has a small kitchenette with mini-fridge, so you can take your own food and beverage. Or, if you prefer, the Smiths will prepare a tasty evening meal for your group for an additional fee. The country breakfast was a superb start to each day. We had a great time during our stay at Juniper Ridge. We hope to return in the future.

Warm and welcoming; spectacular, sweeping scenery; fabulous food; convivial conversation; AAA accommodations. All made for a great 3-day stay. However, the elk were elusive. Simone Crockett, July, 2009.

The Inn exceeded our expectations! We used it as an overnight stop on a cycling trip and it felt like we were visiting old friends. Norbert and Mary were wonderful hosts and even ran a sag wagon for us when we had a mechanical issue with a bike. The meals were outstanding and the atmosphere and view were some of the best I've experienced. It made our trip.

The Smith's are fantastic host and their B&B is marvelous. If your looking for a place to get away this will be your secret hide away! Lot's a feathered and furry friends and larger one's too, so don't forget your camera and binoculars. Impeccable taste and experience of a lifetime. Thank you to the Smith's for the time of my life! Don't miss out on this secluded and very private B&B. Truely a hidden treasure! With sincerity, Marsha

My sister-in-law and I took a spur of the moment overnight trip to the John Day area. Luckily Norbert and Mary Smith had an ad posted in a local tourist guide, so we thought we would call. We were happy to learn they had a mid-week evening open for us. This B&B is great for those who are a bit more adventurous. The property has several small wildlife critters (birds, squirrles, chipmunks) as well as the couple's small but fascinating llama herd that walk and rest near the home and cowboy suite cabin. So many opportunities for the photographer. The mile drive up the hill is gravel and they suggest a 4x4 vehicle, however, I am sure they could arrange to bring you up from the highway. They prepped our cabin/room with only an hour's notice and provided a glass of wine upon arrival. That evening we enjoyed the stars and mountain air from their hot-tub/jacuzzi. The views of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness were heaven, especially with some snow on them during our May stay. They provided binoculars. Norbert set up the fireplace in the cabin so we could easily light it when we wanted to warm up. The breakfast was large and nice and they offered a variety of options including special granola, eggs, hashbrowns, turkey sausage, juices, fruit, local honey, and superb coffee. They ate with us and made the morning extra special with their conversation--answering all of our questions. If you love the outdoors and are prepared to walk around on uneven surfaces you will delighted and tickled. My sister-in-law had never stayed in a B&B and now I told her she's too spoiled and won't appreciate the next ones quite as much. This would be a wonderful honeymoon spot for an outdoorsy couple. But suitable for several types of travelers. To really appreciate it I think you need to stay atleast 2 nights.
