This was by far the best place we stayed in Nova Scotia in every way. We expected a lot and our expectations were exceeded. The breakfasts were unique and the best we have experienced anwhere ever. Sheila requested Bills Apple Pancake Breakfast for our last morning here. He assured us that "It gives slow energy release all day." Later that day when our (new) Ford rental car fried its computer at the most remote part of the National Park we had to wait 5 hours to be rcovered and didn't eat again until 8pm! Remarkably, we were not particularly hungry by then! So - If you are visiting this region and Bill and Ann Marie have a room free book it quickly before anyone else does. If you are really lucky, Bill might do the same breakfast for you - but whatever is served it will be first class. Chris and Sheila; Bristol, England

We have traveled extensively, and have never stayed with more gracious, welcoming, and accommodating hosts. It is clear that the Monks love what they do. Bill and Ann Marie treated us like family; we arrived late on the first night, but were still greeted with open arms. They enjoy sharing their lovingly restored family home which is a heritage property, making our stay even more special. We are so happy we made the decision to stay at A Seafaring Maiden instead of staying in Annapolis Royal proper; their home overlooks the Annapolis River and Annapolis Royal so we enjoyed much better views and we were still just a stones’ throw from all the sites and attractions. Their repertoire of gourmet breakfasts was amazing, and satisfying (we could have easily skipped lunch). When we return we plan to stay at A Seafaring Maiden. Thanks again Bill and Ann Marie, Susan A. Jordan, MD

This inn is just across the river from Annapolis Royal (where the ferry use to tie up), with a beautiful view of the historic city's waterfront from the upstairs bedrooms. Anne Marie and Bill Monk, the proprietors are exceedingly generous and thoughtful with their hospitality and advice for visitors. For instance, prior to my sister, mother, nephew, and I arriving we mentioned that we were making this trip in part to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. They remembered and helped us commemorate the occasion. Each morning, they thought with us about our plans and provided helpful advice on all manner of local activities, historical sites, restaurants, and stores. They also helped us with our geneological research, making our family vacation both unique and memorable. My nephew and I particularly liked the interesting and entertaining moonlight tour of the historic Annapolis Royal cemetery and the natural beauty of kayaking in the Kejimkujik National Park. Finally, Anne Marie's breakfast's are "to die for," and made it especially difficult to leave. I have stayed at several different small inns and B&B's in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan and never felt as welcomed and cared for as I was at A Seafaring Maiden.

After a long journey, my sister and I ended up at the Seafaring Maiden in beautiful Annapolis Royal. What a welcome! We felt right at home. The sun was out and we decided to make ourselves comfortable on the longchairs in the back yard. 'All that's missin' is a cold beer', we heard the neighbor say. 'A glas of wine would be nice, too!' we responded. Next thing we know, the phone rings... turned out it's the neighbor letting Bill know that his guests would appreciate a glass of wine. And so it came about that my sister and I got to enjoy a wonderful glass of cold, white wine in the back yard of this friendly B&B in one of the world's greatest locations. If you are visiting the amazing, vibrant little town of Annapolis Royal, this is the place to go. We are sure you will enjoy your visit as much as we did.

If you are looking for a warm , friendly, and family type atmosphere in a beautiful setting then the Seafaring Maiden is the place to stay! From the moment Jim and I arrived, Bill and Ann Marie Monk made us feel welcomed and very comfortable. In fact, Bill called us before we arrived to see if we had any special dietary needs. We had a lovely room with a view of the water. The breakfasts were delicious and there was always plenty to eat. There were bedtime snacks and special treats___ chocolates on our pillows, evening tea and cookies, or a glass of wine if we so desired. Bill and Ann were always willing to recommend sights to see, restaurants to eat at, and events taking place. When we left we felt like old friends. A wonderful and unique experience and we will definitely stay there next time we are in the area.

If you are traveling in Nova Scotia you will not want to miss A Seafaring Maiden. Bill and AnnMarie are the most friendly and gracious hosts you could ever imagine. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable and let us know what activities were going on in town and arranging reservations as needed. The beautiful Victorian House is beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. The breakfast was amazing with everything being homemade, cranberry orange muffins, granola with yogurt, omelets. ham fresh O.J, coffee and fruit... They packed the extra muffins for us to take on our trip the day we left. The whole experience spoiled me and I really did'nt want to leave but,I will go back again! It was truly the highlight of my trip! C.Perry North Carolina.

Staying at the Seafaring Maiden was the highlight of my trip. My boyfriend and I stayed here as part of a road trip around Nova Scotia. Bill and Anne Marie were the nicest hosts we could have hoped for. They made our stay just wonderful. They went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. Bill cooks a fantastic breakfast that exceeded our expectations. Our room had a beautiful view of Annapolis Royal and we were located close to all of the sites in the area. Staying at A Seafaring Maiden was like staying with old friends. We felt very welcome and at home. If you are considering staying in this area, you shouldn't stay anywhere else.

This is a lovely Victorian home enhanced by family ties bringing current owners Bill and AnnMarie to Granville Ferry. All three guest rooms have views of Annapolis Basin and across to historic Annapolis Royal, and we found ours (Captain's Room) to be clean, light and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious (home-baked), plentiful and different on each of the four mornings we spent there, and because Bill and AnnMarie are very familiar with the area and community, conversation was always lively and informative! A welcome extra if required is a pot of fresh coffee outside your room an hour before breakfast. The two resident cats are super-friendly, staying in the host's quarters unless a guest should seek them out. Great value for money, A Seafaring Maiden is in a lovely scenic area of the Annapolis Valley with superb hosts, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region.
