I was very impressed with this little B & B. I spent seven years in the hospitality industry and Bill and Sue know how to make you feel like you are at home. They take the time to make sure that all your needs are being met. If you have questions about local restaurants or sites they will point you in the right direction. The rooms are very modern and spacious. There is a pool on the upper level where we had a birthday party for 1 of our family members during our stay. Very charming and I would definitely return to this wonderful little B & B.

Um Meia Tres war in allen Belangen überragend. Bei Bill und Sue fühlt man sich wie zu Hause. Das reichhaltige Frühstück mit vielen Früchten war der perfekte Einstieg in einen aufregenden Tag in Rio. Bill und Sue kümmern sich fürsorglich um das Wohl der Gäste und haben viele wunderbare Tipps auf Lager. Wirklich extremst zu empfehlen.

The first time we spent 3 days and the second time 2 days. I am a hotel manager of a five star boutique hotel and I only can recommend this small Bed and Breakfast. Clean, safe, spacious and comfortable, nicely designed - and now the best, the owners Bill and Sue care for you like you are their best friends visiting from abroad. They leave you all the space you want, but if you ask for the unusual Rio experience, they will take you to places you would never ever go by yourself. Have a trip to Bob's at the Favela, or go to the Farmers Market where Sue will show you her love for Reggae! It is great value for money, you feel taken care off and you are in a very nice environment. For what more can you ask. Highly recommendable.

My partner and I spent late September 08 in this lovely B&B. We had a clean and comfy room looking over a breath taking view of Rio. Most mornings we also had a family of monkeys visit us on our balcony which made our day. The pool is a nice size and the gardens surrounding it are full of interesting and colourful plants and wildlife. Santa Teresa neighbourhood is full of beautiful buildings, cobbled streets and authentic brazilian bars. Its my favourite area in the city and your never to far away from a good night out.

If you’re headed for Rio de Janeiro and want a lovely place to stay that’s away from the tourist crush, try Um Meia Tres. You will have spectacular views of the city. We were there for a week in early November 2008. Owned by a fun-loving and hospitable English couple, this B&B is in the historic Santa Teresa neighborhood. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, as are the white marble bathrooms. The beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast is always a treat with a good selection of fresh fruits and juices, cereals, pastries, breads, and cold meats. Because Santa Teresa is in the hills above the beaches and business district, the weather is more pleasant—a bit cooler and less humid. It’s in a true neighborhood with a weekly market, restaurants, bars, and shops frequented by the locals, not tourists. The Atlantic rainforest is nearby. There are plenty of taxis available for a quick trip to the beaches, and the buses run every few minutes. Or you can take the tram into the heart of Rio—a fun way to get to the city. The owners of Um Meia Tres can arrange a city tour for you and can suggest restaurants, night clubs, and day trips.
