I work for a well known company in Hillsboro, OR. The company is known to be a highly stressful place to work. I was well into a planning period and myself and a co-worker decided that we would need a break after it was done. I got online and started searching for B&B's to stay at. I came across The Craftsman. When we arrived, Mike greeted us at the door and showed us to our room. When I walked into my room, I was amazed. The pictures I had looked at online didn't do it justice. The room was beautiful. I stayed in the Prairie Room and my friend stayed in the Mackintosh. Both rooms were wonderful. My bathroom had a claw foot tub which was amazing. I soaked in it each night (I actually fell asleep in it both nights). We were worried that there wouldn't be much to do because the B&B doesn't have a T.V. Well with Lincoln City only half hours drive away and the beach with in minutes, we had plenty to do. Not to mention staying up until late playing scrabble. The weekend I spent in Pacific City at The Craftsman was most relaxed I have been in a long time. I would recommend this to anyone who asked.

I was burned out from working, and was greeted each day warmly by the owner. The breakfasts were delicious and the owner went out of his way to make every guest feel welcome and at home. I left feeling rested and rejuvenated. I am so glad to know there are such clean, hospitable, and friendly places too stay at in Pacific City.

My husband and I made a return visit to The Craftsman. We are trying to convince ourselves to visit during the winter instead of waiting for next September. There's nothing like experiencing a winter storm on the Oregon Coast and I think The Craftsman would keep us supplied with hot chocolate.

We've stayed at the Craftsman many times and we plan to return often. Highly recommend the Prarie room, but after last weekend we may choose the Morris room for future stays. The breakfasts are excellent and the coffee is wonderful. Mike & Laura are also outstanding embassadors for Pacific City as well as experts on wine, Craftsman style and a variety of eclectic topics.

We stayed two nights at the Craftsman B&B and the room was very clean and the bed was awesome.Best night sleep I have had in days. The breakfast was served family style which my husband and I both enjoyed. We met the other guests and they were really great to talk too. Mike the innkeeper made the best scones I have ever had. The quality of the breakfast was by far the best . The ocean was a short walk although the sand dune you had to climb gave us a bit of a workout but it was worth it. You can't go wrong staying at the Craftsman B&B.

The Craftsman B&B is beautiful inside and out,and has been expertly reconstucted by the owner Michael. We apprieciated the "green" details and his use of previously used wood etc. as part of his rebuilding of the lovely old building. When deciding on locations for our honeymoon we wanted to stay off the beaten path and decided to stay in Pacific City for a few days. Since it was our honeymoon we decided to have our first bed & breakfast experience. We knew that since we were a young couple that we didn't want the "typical" B&B experience with tons of lace and flowers; therefore Craftsman looked the best to suit our needs (especially my manly man of a husband's). We were both extremely nervous at first but Mike, his wife, and dog all welcomed us and made us feel very, very comfortable. It was a very positive and pleasant experience that neither one of us will forget for life. The entire house is beautiful and well-designed; Mike did an awesome job! We left sorry to end our trip and go back to the real world. Craftsman and Pacific City combined was the ultimate relaxation we needed to end our two week honeymoon; the only sad note was that we didn't get a good sunny day until our last day...but at least we got one and we're happy about that! Oh and, the meals were FREAKIN' AWESOME; MIKE'S AN EXCELLENT COOK!! There was not a single meal or baked good that we didn't like. We will FOR SURE be returning and hope to become regular guests. We're hoping to be able to afford to rent all rooms so that our kids (4 of them) could enjoy the experience with us one day. Thank you Mike for such a wonderful experience. We found the Craftsman B&B after weeding thru endless B&B's that looked like Grandma's attic... It's a real gem, with amazing 'suites', beautifully crafted throughout and the most fabulous hosts... especially Oscar! Their breakfast was to die for, and the coffee delicious! Our only regret - is that we booked for a single night... We visited a few years ago - and we still can't wait to go back!!! - Awesome.

We found The Craftsman B&B to be a wonderful escape from the city. Our host, Mike Rech, was attentive as could be and was magically there when we need anything. The rate is a bargain indeed for the care and attention provided. Our stay was very pleasant. Mike knows a lot about the area. The location wasn't quite what we expected, since it was located right behind a motel and it was a longer walk to get to the beach than we anticipated. Our room was nice, but on the small side. It was clean and simple and Mike has done a great job with all the wood. We liked the bananas foster french toast. All in all a nice stay.

I enjoyed my stay here. The house and room were immaculate, which is important to me. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I loved the stand-alone tub. Mike and Laura, the owners, went out of their way to ensure that my stay was comfortable, and were very honest and helpful with recommendations about where to eat. I would recommend the Bistro across the street, it was very good and had an excellent wine list. Mike & Laura offer wine packages for your stay which I thought was kind of neat. Oscar the dog is on the premises, but he was well behaved and real cutie.

Michael is very accomodating, working hard to see that your needs are met. Yes the coffee is as good as everyone says. The beds are firm and comfortable. This has been a problem for us in the past since my husband has a bad back and sometimes has taken to sleeping on the floor when beds are too soft.

Mike and Laura are wonderful hosts and have done a beautiful job creating a simple elegance and special feel to each room. They have a wonderful setting and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet setting, the long walks on the beach and good restaurant recommendations. The only thing that we would change was the water did not not seem to get really hot.

I'm late with my review and, to be fair, I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry, so I had to punt on the dining portion of the rating. If you stay nowhere else on the Oregon Coast, stay here. My wife and I came to the Craftsman B&B for a night of well deserved R&R and also to celebrate her birthday. We chose the Craftsman due to its location on the coast in a less frequently traveled town on the Oregon coast. The service and the room at the craftsman were outstanding. We enjoyed meeting the owners and their dog, Oscar. The room was lively and large. My wife enjoyed reading a book while she sat in the tub. We also enjoyed some time in their jacuzzi. The breakfast was hearty and adequate. We very much enjoyed our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

Mike and his wife Laura were wonderful hosts - very friendly and seemed quite happy to sit down and talk with guests, giving knowledgeable advise about dining in Pacific City, nearby hiking and sites, and anything we as guests inquired about. Both the setting of the B&B and the rooms are quite simple - but the rooms are comfortable and clean. No frills in the rooms (no TV, simple hooks for clothes, few chairs, no table or desk) but the bathroom is well done, the bed very adequate, and the furniture (made by Mike) results in a very comfortable stay. I would summarize by saying that the Craftsman B&B is a simple but wonderful B&B that, for people who do not demand the frills of an expensive resort, will find this B&B to be a wonderful experience. The breakfasts, produced by Mike, are top notch.

Every room is beautiful and different; the bathrooms are wonderfully clean and fully stocked. They know how to let a couple have a romantic weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and the walk to the ocean. I am a vegetarian and they always had a fabulous breakfast ready and waiting. We love going there and it is now on our favorite B&B list. They even gave us cookies to take home!

My husband and I stayed at the Stickley room at The Craftsman Bed and Breakfast for three days over July fourth weekend and loved it! Our room was immaculately clean, well furnished (great taste!) and spacious. We loved the spacious bathroom and the all the little details (robes and flip flops for example) that Mike and Laura have added to the place. Mike and Laura are great hosts - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Did I mention that Mike makes amazing breakfasts and that they have great coffee? The beach is just a short walk away and is unspoilt and not at all crowded. This was our first trip to the Oregon coast and we had such a pleasant experience that we will surely come back.

For those looking for non-Victorian, non-lacy, non-foofy place, this is it. I would say this is the perfect B&B for guys particularly. Nice but not flowery or over done. The Arts & Crafts movement home is hand done beautifully and Pacific City is a quiet town - perfect for a getaway to a largely non-touristy spot. If you need a quiet spot to stay within walking distance of the beach, fine dining and quiet, this is it.

We just stayed with Mike and Laura (and Oscar the Weimaraner!) and highly recommend The Craftsman B&B. The location is excellent especially if you are making your way down the coast from Portland and are looking for a great first night's stay. Cape Kiwanda is only moments away with tidepools to explore and dunes to climb. Our bed was so comfortable we succumbed to a nap shortly after arrival in the late afternoon - very cozy. Mike and Laura are very knowledgeable about wine and happy to share suggestions for visits to the Willamette Valley as well as selections from their own cellar. As other reviews have mentioned, breakfast was fantastic - definitely have one of Laura's lattes and perhaps Mike will be serving his fresh from the oven cranberry scones and outstanding Bananas Foster french toast. Did I mention they sent us on our way with a care package of brownies? We would certainly stay here again the next time we are in the area!

My husband and I with a group of our friends stayed in for the Craftsman B&B for the third year in a row for an annual bicycling event. We absolutely love it! The owners/innkeepers Michael and Laura make sure every detail is perfect from the hot-baked cookies on arrival, to a perfect soak in the hot tub, a bottle of wine from their cellar, to their luxuriously-appointed rooms, and a recommendation for one of the local restaurants for dinner. Breakfast is always fantastic and will carry you through most of a day of exploring the area (be sure to have them make you a latte!) The B&B is easy walking distance to the beach, galleries and a number of restaurants. This is a tradition we plan to keep for many years to come. :)

We had an outstanding visit. Excellent wine selection. Excellent suggestion for dinner right across the street. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub. While at our hot tub, our wine and water glasses were never left empty. The cookies sitting on the table are amazing. Those alone are worth going back. Breakfast was good. We spent one weekend at this fantastic B&B that is located on one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Oregon. Charming craftsman styled home with 4 guest rooms and all have their own bath. Your hosts are fantastic and the food and coffee is absolutely a show stopper. The town of Pacific City is a small, quaint beach village that has Restaurants and shopping that are unbelievable! All around great spot for weekend escape to honeymoon.. can't wait to go back...so much to do or do nothing...either works!
