We had a wonderful day & night at Hotel Burgess, and hope to return. Mr Jackson treated us like royalty. It was like stepping back in time, but with all mod cons., The breakfast in the coffee shop was delicious, and one of the best we received in the States. It was charming and we can thoroughly recommend it to all.

1st time visit. Staff was wonderful, and the rooms were better than most B&B's I 've stayed in. The owner has put a lot of effort into the restoration of this building, and it shows. Want to go back without the kids and just relax in the atmosphere of the olden days.

The Hotel Burgess is a very pleasant B&B in Reedley, California. The hotel, while historic, has all the modern amenities one would look for in a hotel. Plus, it is a functioning antique shop, so all of the items that decorate the shop are for sale. The hallways are nicely themed, but the rooms -- while pleasant -- are somewhat spartan. I've stayed in the other hotels/motels in and around Reedley. The Hotel Burgess is worth the few extra dollars per night to stay at a quiet, clean and pleasant B&B. And be sure to say "hi" to Toy, the lobby cat.

We stayed here prior to picking up our son at Riverway Ranch Camp and it took us less than a half hour to get there. The place is just wonderful. We loved the house cat "toy" and the little dog too. The staff was very friendly and went beyond to help us work out a route to the camp. The place is beautiful and they upgraded us to a nicer room than we reserved. The town is very quiet and we ate at the pub for dinner on the advice from the lovely young lady at the front desk and we were NOT disappointed. The food was great and the value wonderful also. We would definitely stay here again. The room was clean and the sheets and bedding were luxurious and the bathroom towels were the best I have seen unless paying triple the amount for a room. Oh, and their cookies are to die for. The breakfast that comes with the room was fabulous. The staff in the cafe are prompt and our breakfast was great too. I just can not say enough praise for this hotel and next year when my son goes back to RiverRanch Camp we will stay here again. The only thing I was hoping for that wasn't there was any ghost! LOL

Trains (plural) waking me up were bad. These rolled through at around 2:30 am and 3:30 am. The old, single paned windows were no defense. I felt like I was lying right next to the tracks! I was charged a $25 late arrival fee for arriving at 10pm (cutoff was 9pm). Breakfast (served next door by teenagers) was 30 minutes late, and the office was not open at 7:30am to print my receipt for business. All in all, if you actually want to sleep through the night, stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Dinuba, CA, maybe 5 miles away.

After my daughter and family stayed at the Hotel Burgess and gave such a glowing review, my husband and I decided to stay there when we had to attend an event in Reedley. We were not disappointed. The hotel staff is enthusiastic, welcoming and wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location is in the center of town within walking distance to interesting shops and some dining spots. Plans are in the works to have an on-site restaurant available sometime this year. Right now the cafe provides an included cooked-to-order breakfast--we enjoyed eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast/jam and orange juice. Would I stay at the Hotel Burgess again? Yes, definitely. We were in town for a funeral and I didn't want to stay in a large hotel. My husband didn't want to stay in a bed and breakfast but agreed to let me choose the hotel. It's actually a little hard to describe, because there were so many awesome things to see in that place. I was in awe the minute I stepped through the door. Every detail was well thought out, and we felt as if we'd stepped back in time. The winding creaky stairs were great and we were so pleased with our room. The bed was wonderful with high quality linens and an outstanding mattress. We were the only ones there for the night. We had a key for the front door and felt very safe. My husband enjoys photography so he ventured out into the hall around 10:00 p.m. to take some photos of the antiques. He was only wearing his boxers, and in the morning realized there were security camers in the hall. Uh oh! I had a good laugh! I took a wonderful bubble bath in the claw foot tub and slelpt like a baby. We will definitely return when we are in the area again. The staff was friendly and helpful, and my husband was so pleased that he's going to let me choose the hotel on our next trip also. Lisa Salinas, CA

My husband and I spent Valentine's evening at the Hotel Burgess this weekend as part of a prize package we won for being "Reedley's most romantic couple". ;) It was a lovely way to spend the holiday. From the atmosphere to the linens, it was magnificent. We are no more than six or so blocks away, but both agree we will go back again soon for a "couple's retreat"! Michael was an amazing host, all of the staff was incredibly friendly, the antiques were a wonderful bonus as well, as I am a collector. The food was marvelous, location was great for our "date", and the hubs and I couldn't get over the fact that we had an actual key to the room, LOL!! Not only will we return, but will encourage friends and family to experience it also. Thank you Michael, for making the room available to us on short notice. It was a real pleasure.

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise! I visited in November while travelling on business and had no idea that it would become a vacation as well. The Hotel Burgess was originally recommended by my place of work, and so I reserved a room along with several of my co-workers. The hotel had free wireless internet (which was perfect as it allowed me to work from my room) and the room also included a delicious breakfast (served as early as 6:30!) and amazing comfortable beds, plus a flat-screen tv! Also, the owner opened up a meeting room on premises for our group to work out of. The hostess at the inn made me a tea tray in the evening to take to my room and I hardly knew I was working. I look forward to returning for the next local meeting!

I recently visited Reedley, CA and stayed at this most charming, elegant and delightful bed and breakfast. The place was located in downtown Reedley close to shops and restaurants. The room was EXQUISITE!!!!! The decoration was done using antiques from the 1900's and each room has a different decor. Just a note to all antique aficionados, ALL THE FURNITURE AND ANTIQUES ARE FOR SALE!!!! What a beauty!!!!! Please don't hesitate to stay here on your next trip to that area. This is definitely a place to relax and enjoy the cordiality and helping hands of the personnel and the inner keeper who went beyond their lines of duty. We had never stayed at a B&B before, and the Hotel Burgess was a delightful first experience. We stayed on the way to pick up our kids in Kings Canyon. Our room and bathroom were small but very clean and nicely furnished. [Since our stay, we hear many B&B's have shared bathrooms, so now we're especially appreciative]. The hotel was beautifully decorated. We would've liked to just sit in the lobby for a while enjoying the soft classical music and drinking coffee from the silver coffeepot. The young lady at the desk seemed to love her job and the hotel. She helped us choose the perfect restaurant for dinner. She was helpful without being pushy -- a nice balance. We planned to have dinner and then turn in for the night. But on a walk through downtown we passed the restored Opera House, and realized there’d be a performance that night. It looked like an opportunity not to pass up, so we called for a reservation. We walked to Valentinas for dinner. The atmosphere was lively, some of the dishes were available family style, the food was delicious, and the prices were terrific. We were thankful for such a wonderful recommendation. From there we walked to the Opera House for the show. Both of us were a little concerned that we might be the only members of the audience, but it was very busy. We sat in the balcony. We had a table and chairs by the railing to move to when the show started. Between acts they served dessert and coffee, which was an unexpected plus. The River City Players did a great job and the show was fantastic! In the morning we went down to our pre-ordered breakfast in the hotel's cafe, served right at the time we'd written on our order cards the night before. The food was warm and delicious, and the cafe was very pretty. We were about 45 minutes late getting to camp to pick up the kids, but who can blame us?

Stayed at the Burgess after stumbling across a positive mention of it while researching local motels. The hotel is a gem; beautifully restored; staff very sweet and welcoming. Each room has its own A/C, which the staff had thoughtfully turned on before our arrival during a hotter-than-usual June weekend. Rooms and bathroom were spotless. The hotel was full that weekend, so breakfast was served in the cafe two doors down. On a minor note: We had our breakfasts reheated both days since they arrived barely warm, but that was the only negative. Would stay here again without any hesitation.

I just happened on this hotel while visiting family and eating dinner in Reedley. The beautiful antique interior of the Hotel Burgess shined bright in the night. I looked up the hotel online and found the website under construction. I did find reviews from people noting how wonderful their stay was. I decided to gamble and made a reservation once I got my rate. The hotel has dark wood floors throughout and it's beautfiully decorated. My room with a king size bed was beautiful and roomy. Antique furniture filled the room nicely and was all for sale. The plasma TV with HD was a nice surprise. The bed was the big winner! The soft sheets and cushy bed was amazing. Another bonus was receiving wireless for free (not sure if that was part of the hotel or coming from a nearby office). During my visit to Fresno I had stayed at The Marriott Courtyard and The Hampton Inn...both pricing between $130 and $169.00 per night. My price for my wonderful room at the Hotel Burgess was just over $100.00 and beat the pants off the other hotels. Hotel Burgess is the best hotel to enjoy your stay in Reedley, Sanger, Fresno, or other nearby area. The town of Reedley is charming, beautiful brick buildings, antique shops, and small family restaurants. The staff was wonderfull!! Very helpful and polite. It was refreshing. We had a wonderful little 4-legged visitor named Nacho who decided to provide us with a little goodbye show of his talents....we will definitely be back to stay at the Burgess. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I give it 5 stars.

This is a long review, but figured that it's worth the read. My girlfriend had found this establishment while visiting her family in nearby Sanger (which is where she is from.) She convinced me to stay with her at Hotel Burgess...I have to admit, I was a bit reluctant and I am sort of a "travel snob" as I have traveled around the U.S. and overseas for the better part of 10 years and have stayed at some impressive hotels during that time. All the rooms have a unique look and feel. Our room was very light, bright and clean. The hotel did an outstanding job of furnishing the rooms, lobby, hallways, etc. The beds were just as comfortable as the bed I have at home. Linens were soft and clean which made for a good night sleep. The HDTV was a nice touch to make for a relaxing evening in the room. Service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Someone was always there to say hello and goodbye. Someone even escorted us to our room and gave us the rundown of all the amenities. They offer a complimentary breakfast and even let us pick the time we wanted to eat. The food was like home cooking! A nice treat when traveling. Value was great! I would expect an establishment as nice as this to cost more. Cleanliness...cleaner than most places I have been to. Lobby was nice and organized. Our room had a clean and fresh scent when we opened the door. Not a spot on the carpet and the bathroom was spotless. Dining was good considering they were expanding their restaurant next door. But, the staff had some great recommendations for dining that were a short walk down the street. Overall our stay was outstanding. I would make another trip to Reedly just to stay at this hotel again. Don't think twice about this one! Book it! It's well worth it and say hi to Nacho when you check in!

We researched B&B's starting with the Travel Fresno County website; decided on Hotel Burgess, because of its location and history. All our dealings with the Hotel were very pleasant, courteous and accommodating. The Hotel is part antique store/Hotel; many of the furnishings are for sale, but this is not obvious or does it detract from the period ambience. All the Hotel personnel were from the area and shared stories and recollections of what it is like to live in Reedley and the Central Valley; one reason we choose a B&B, to get a feeling for the culture of the town and surroundings. We were impressed by their kindness, warmth and the level of hospitality. They were not intrusive or prying. We loved the light in our room with its skylights; the antiques and the beautiful bed covering, but with a nod to the 21st century, there are very nice linens, complimentary toiletries and a HD plasma TV. We both slept well as the bed was super comfortable. We met the owner that night as we had trouble getting reception on the TV; he immediately came up and helped us figure out the controls. The breakfast was good, but there is only a smaller table in the lobby for seating. The Hotel is opening a Steak House adjacent to the Hotel in the next two months and it will provide the meals along with more dining area. The Hotel has a package deal with the Reedley Opera House, one block away, during their season. We were impressed that the owner, a native Central Valleyite, was actively involved in promoting and maintaining Reedley's history and architecture. We definitely will return as we were able to relive, if only for a short time, the history and culture of the Central Valley. By the way, the Blossom Trail was beautiful and easy to follow (the Fresno County site provides good maps and info); stopping and viewing the trees with the snow covered mountains in the background made for a beautiful, picturesque trip and adventure.
