We spent weeks trying to find available lodging within our budget for a trip to Manhattan and finally found it here. This was not the typical New England style antique-filled, historic home B & B. It was better in so many ways. We were a little wary at first about staying in New Jersey and hassling transportation into the city each day. But no worries. The Path train runs 24 hours/day, and the walk to the train station was fast, easy and safe, even at 1:00 in the morning! On the evening of our arrival, our flight was delayed so we didn't arrive by taxi until 1:30 in the morning...despite the time, Rafael was there to greet us and help with our luggage and this is something you wouldn't find at other B & Bs. We stayed in the King room the first night, and the remainder of our stay in the upstairs Suite. Very comfortable beds, plenty of room to spread out, gorgeous view of NYC skyline from the suite balcony, both for morning sunrise and the city lights at night. Breakfast at the communal dining table was cooked to order, with a variety of choices, and afforded us interesting conversation with Lonnie, the owner, and other guests from Argentina, Utah, and California. One of the nicest touches was having complimentary bottled water and soda in our fridge to take with us for sightseeing each day. Because the inn had no vacancy for our last night in Manhattan, we were able to use the free in-room internet/computer/telephone to make numerous calls and searches for alternative lodging for our final night, at no extra charge. What a lifesaver that was. And when we were ready to check-out, Rafael drove us to the other hotel to drop off our luggage and then took us to the Path train station, saving us the cost of 2 cab rides!! That's amazing service for you!!! We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Jersey City B & B to anyone looking for great service and comfortable lodging at a truly affordable price. absolutely perfect, from the begining to the end !
The rooms: we slept in the king size room.
The king size bed was really comfortable, and the Tvs were really neat: the giant one was realy cool with its hundreds of channels, and the other had english subtitiles, which came really handy for us, foreign tourists. I can't think of anything wrong... really fantastic !
After a full day visiting New York, we couldn't wait to go home to rest in this really welcoming place !
the service was awesome. Everyone was really kind and nice, and made this journey even greater ! Lonnie, Rafael were adorable!
The cleanliness was as good as possible.
And the breakfast : even better then in hotels. Pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit salad, it was always yummy and delicious.
We had a great time back there.
We really recommand this place !

Jersey City B&B is simply THE place to stay if you're visiting the NY/NJ area. As a lone traveller, I was instantly made to feel at home. I stayed for 5 nights in the suite. The view is amazing. The room has all the facilities you need - a comfortable bed, air conditioning, a mini fridge which is stocked daily with drinks, coffee/tea making facilities, cable TV and internet access - great for keeping in touch with those back home. Lonnie & Tesi were the perfect hosts. I really enjoyed breakfast times, sitting around the table having a chat with them both and the other guests. Tesi cooked wonderful breakfasts - very filling, and Lonnie was more then willing to give me a lift to the PATH station, in fact he insisted on making sure his guests got there OK. The station is literally a 10 minute walk away. You can leave the B&B and be in Manhattan within 30 minutes. I should also mention Beena (I hope I've spelt your name right!). Beena welcomed me into the B&B after my long flight from the UK, showed me to my room, told me a bit about the area and how to get to the station and even cooked breakfast one morning, when Lonnie and Tesi were away. What a star she is! Had great conversations with her - what a credit she is to the B&B.
I'm already looking forward to visiting NYC again, and will not hesitate to stay in Jersey City B&B again. My advice to anyone is, don't pay extortionate prices in Manhattan where you are just a number on a guest list, stay here for less and you will be treated as a friend.

Hi,
I'm from Germany and I'm travelling a lot, due to business purposes. I saw many hotels and other places to stay, but this Bed&Breakfast is the best, most valuable, most comfortable and best located place to stay all over the world. Lonnie and Tessie are some of the friendliest people I ever met. Thanks for that fantastic stay for a very great price.
We were a party of four, rented two rooms at Jersey City B&B at the end of august:
The rooms are very clean, big and comfortable. And there is everything you'll need: Drinks, fruits, coffee, wireless internet, PCs with printer and a fridge. Room Service (Cleaning) is great, too.
The breakfast stands to higher european standards.
The PATH station is just 5 min by car or 10 min to walk. From this station you'll need less than 10 min to arrive at Ground Zero or about 20 min to stand in front of the Empire State Building.
It's a suberb location to stay, for a very nice price. View Reviewer Info

The Jersey B&B is ideal when you are coming from Newark airport. In less than half an hour you are in the residence. And in about 12 min from Journal Square (15 min walking from the residence) you are in the WTC area.
Lonnie and Tessie are very kind people. They always want to help you. Tessie is a real sweetie and she is very generous for making a good European breakfast if you don't like the American breakfast, like I did. Thank you again Tessie! Lonnie helps you always with his tips and tricks and when he is free, he drives you to the subwaystation.
The rooms are very comfortable; you have all what you need and more than that, even fruit, free drinks, free telephone in the US, free internet, free computeruse and printing, airco.... Let's say total complete service.
I can advise you to take the suite. We stayed in the room with two beds and later in the suite. If this room is free, take this. It costs a little bit more, but you have a lot more of comfort (greater room).
B&B is top and a very good place to stay! View Reviewer Info

I come from Greece, and, dare I say, we do have our rather exacting ideas about hospitality. Just about any hotel I have been in, anywhere, regardless of price range, totally and completely lacks even traces of what hospitality is about. Thankfully, Lonnie's and Tessie's place is an exception. You are entering into their home, they take care of you, and things feel so right. I stayed there for four nights in mid June and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else on my next trip. Your only excuse for not staying here is if they are booked... period. View Reviewer Info

I was blown away by the high prices of hotels in Manhatten. While searching for a bargain, I came across Jersey City B&B at bedandbreakfast.com.
I have so much to say about my stay with Lonnie and Tess, because they made a positive impression on me.
But, first a little about the accommodations at their Jersey City B & B: Their home is wonderful, with hardwood flooring, soft and comfortable beds, small fridges in every room stocked with beverages and fruit, laptops, phone calls and printers supplied at no extra charge, and great breakfasts!
The price was more than reasonable for the convenience and comfort of the stay.
I was given a good discount rate for 10 nights which averaged about $50 per night!
I was so satisfied with my stay that I recommended the place to an actor friend of mine. Lonnie & Tess were gracious to send me a check as a thank you! It was a nice surprise.
I come to NY at least twice per year, but this time was my first for NY Fashion Week. To save money, I had to cut corners in transportation by taking the Amtrak into the city. The train was 5 hrs late and when I got in at 1 am, Lonnie was at the station waiting for me! He carried my heavy luggage up the stairs to his car, took me to grab a bite to eat on the way to his home, and made sure I was settled into my room before he went to bed.
The next morning, I met Tess, who is a great cook. We hit it off right away and each morning we had so much to talk about which made my stay even more enjoyable.
Lonnie made sure I made the commuter train every morning and Tess made sure I had something to eat before I left for the day. She made breakfast according to my schedule which was very kind.
At the end of my stay, Lonnie & Tess made sure everything was ready for me to go and gave me a warm farewell.
I thank the couple for creating a warm and fond experience for me.

I stayed with a friend at the "Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast" for one week, and I can only say, that this week was almost perfect!
Everything is as it is described at the website, really everthing!
Lonnie is a great innkeeper, very friendly and he really cares about his guests. Also the women who make the breakfast and clean the rooms are friendly and talkative and do a really good job.
But now the reason why only "almost perfect":
I don't know if it's normal in the US, but at breakfast we had scrambled eggs - every day. There have always been other things like waffles or gems with jelly, but every day we had eggs. We ate the eggs because they were really good but when we returned to Germany we didn't want to see any eggs for a long time.
So this is my only point of critique: the missing variety at the breakfast.
But despite that, our stay at "Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast" was just perfect, and next time I go to NYC, I will also stay with Lonnie!
Thanks a lot, Lonnie and the girls! View Reviewer Info

We recently stayed here in June 2008 and found it to be a very nice place. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with nice furnishings. They provide everything you could possibly need such as a laptop computer in your room, with internet and printer, complimenatry drinks and fruit in your room each day, hair dryer, shampoos, etc. This place has a very homey feeling to it that provides creates a relaxing atmosphere, without all the to-do of a big hotel chain. It's almost like you become a part of the family while your there. The owners were very friendly and more than helpful. You simply won't get this quality of accomodations at this price, staying in Manhattan. Definitely the better way to go when visiting New York; simply hop on the PATH train to get into Manhattan (takes about 20 min). As for our dining experience at breakfast, the dining table is well presented, but I think the breakfasts could be a little more creative, such as muffins, bagels, yogurt... Regardless, this is a great place, very quiet, good location, friendly people. View Reviewer Info

Finding appropriate accommodation while visiting New York for the first time felt a little daunting: convenience, cleanliness, safety, price were all concerns. We saw the reviews on the web and decided so many positive comments must give a decent picture of how things really are. Lonnie and Tess provide great hospitality in excellent accommodations at a very reasonable price. The two suites we stayed in were clean and spacious enough for the three of us- two adults, one teen. Each room was equipped with tv, computer, phone, fridge with beverages, a bowl of fresh fruit and - a necessity during the record June temperatures we experienced – an air conditioner. Obviously, staying outside of Manhattan is less convenient than staying in Manhattan but we felt comfortable taking the 20 minute walk to the station whose trains take you directly to midtown Manhattan or the World Trade Center. (Lonnie is often available for lifts to the station). Tess provided us with tasty and ample breakfasts and delightful conversation. Coming or going, early or late, we always felt at home. Our week-long visit to New York gave us many cherished memories - including our stay at Jersey City’s Bed and Breakfast. View Reviewer Info

When I first drove into Jersey City I was starting to get worried about how the bed and breakfast would compare to the not so accomidating landscape of the town; however, when I got to the bed and breakfast I was met by the very welcoming owner, Lonnie, and he showed us to our room which was beyond what I could have ever hoped for on any budget, let alone the outstandingly low price I was paying for it, a mere one hundred dollars a night. The room was immaculately clean and quaintly decorated, but this quantness did not pertain to the size of the room as well. The first room consisted of a giant bed and a big screen TV, which had the full package Comcast On Demand hooked up to it. The second room was even more spacious and had two closets, a very nice computer hooked up to high speed internet, a coffee maker, a large couch, a mini fridge, and yet another TV, not to mention the balcony which overlooks New York's skyline and gives a beautiful view at night when the city is alight. Did I mention the room was only one hundred dollars a night? A comparitive room in Manhattan would easily be three to four hundred dollars a night. With that price disparity it is very easy to pay the eight dollar Holland Tunnel fee each day to enter the city. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast and already have to multiple people who have yet to find a gem such as this to stay at. View Reviewer Info

We stayed for 10 days and it was a very good decision.
After arrival at airport we phoned Lonnie and he advised how to go and at Journal Square (PATH station; about 15 minutes by foot) he picked us up to get us (and our luggage) to his place - very helpful.
During our stay we felt like home, very famliar. Rooms were great - we appreciated air condition, ceiling fan, laptop (with printer and high speed internet access) and comfortable beds. The room was separated into two parts. On the one hand were beds, large TV and accessible wardrobe. On the other hand: desk with laptop, printer and microwave, fridge (beverages restocked daily) and basket of fruits. Bathroom was shared with one other party. Host people were very friendly, helpful and obliging. And, we got keys for the house, so we could come and go at anytime we would like to. As I allready said, we felt like home.
If you would like to travel to NYC we very recommend to stay at Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast. And at least - price is very fair.
Again, thank you very much.

The hotel we stayed in NYC couldn't accommodate all the days we requested so my boyfriend and I decided to stayed at Jersey City B&B on our last night since we are flying home from Newark Airport. After days of non-stop walking in Manhattan it was so wonderful to arrive at Lonnie & Tesi's for so many reasons:
1. We slept like babies because the king size bed in our room on the top floor was so comfortable
2. We had a living room attached to our bedroom that was spacious and welcoming with refreshments and all nessarities (TV, Computer, Internet, Stationary etc.)
3. Our room also has a balcony that overlooking the beautiful Manhattan skyline
4. We were able to leave our luggages until late afternoon at the house after we checked out while we went to Statue of Liberty and watched a movie
5. Tesi's hearty breakfast was soooo yummy (Hot egg & Ham Omelette, yogurts, fruits, bread, crossiant, juice, coffee, tea; you name it they have it)
6. Best of all was Lonnie's assistance - we were stuck at Newport Mall because we couldn't find a taxi for 40 minutes - frustrated, desperate and running out of time to go to airport to catch our flight home, I called Lonnie. He was a life saver by picking us up without questions with our luggages already in his trunk so we can get to the airport on time.
I highly recommend anyone and everyone to stay with Lonnie & Tesi's especially if you are going to be in NYC for a longer period of time. Because besides what they have to offer, price is extremely affordable and it is just a 30 mins ride (including PATH train & taxi) from heart of Manhattan.
Thanks again for everything.

Because we have stayed in NYC for 14 days, we chose to stay with Lonnie and Tesi basically because of a very competitive price. The value of this Lonnie’s offer has exceeded our expectation. The house is newly refurbished. Authentic Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soup prints (circa 1972) in the dinning room, as well as, another beautiful authentic print in the bedroom we have stay in, were a tremendous bonus! A suite we have stayed in had real king size bed with an extremely comfortable mattress! It was so important after 12 -14 hours of walking in the City. Nice linen, very clean room, Huge TV- with a free on demand. Magnificent!!!Great view of the Manhattan from the balcony!! Wonderful breakfasts, everyday different, our favorite omelets served up to the minute, so do not be late for breakfast, as it will be cold. (Sorry Tesi for requesting first few breakfasts at 6.30AM - jet lag). In the room - free coffee, tee, hot chocolate, free mini bar, free wifi, and a computer. We stayed for 14 days in the City, out of which only 10 with Lonnie and Tess, as there was no vacancy. They are filling quickly so I suggest make up your mine quickly. At the morning ask Lonnie to give you a ride to waterfront of Jersey City. Take a walk from Colgate Clock along the waterfront and have another view of the Manhattan. Walk to Exchange station of the PATH train and go one stop to WTC. I also recommend doing the same on the other side of the Manhattan, through the Brooklyn Bridge taking a walk to Brooklyn Heights. Have fun! View Reviewer Info

I stayed with Lonnie and Tessie for a week in January 08, and to say they make you feel very welcome is an understatement! They picked me up from Newark Airport for a very resonable cost, and the house itself is immaculate! I had a room on the top floor, with a very comfortable bed, huge TV with Cable, fridge with drinks (free!), fresh fruit (free!), hi speed internet and laptop (free!), and a lovely big bathrobe to slob around in :o)
Tessie does an outstanding breakfast that really sets you up for the day, and Lonnie was very helpful with rides to the PATH train station and ideas on where to go and what to visit. Its only a few minutes drive to the Path station, but even if you walk it only 10-15 mins. The neighbourhood is quite, and I didn't feel worried about walking back from the station at all.
From the PATH statiopn, its only 15 mins maximum into Manhatten, so Jersey City B&B is an excellent base for a trip to the City.
Amazing value, great food, lovely company and hospitallity.....what more could you ask for!
Thanks for a great time L&T, it really made my trip!!
