We spent weeks trying to find available lodging within our budget for a trip to Manhattan and finally found it here. This was not the typical New England style antique-filled, historic home B & B. It was better in so many ways. We were a little wary at first about staying in New Jersey and hassling transportation into the city each day. But no worries. The Path train runs 24 hours/day, and the walk to the train station was fast, easy and safe, even at 1:00 in the morning! On the evening of our arrival, our flight was delayed so we didn't arrive by taxi until 1:30 in the morning...despite the time, Rafael was there to greet us and help with our luggage and this is something you wouldn't find at other B & Bs. We stayed in the King room the first night, and the remainder of our stay in the upstairs Suite. Very comfortable beds, plenty of room to spread out, gorgeous view of NYC skyline from the suite balcony, both for morning sunrise and the city lights at night. Breakfast at the communal dining table was cooked to order, with a variety of choices, and afforded us interesting conversation with Lonnie, the owner, and other guests from Argentina, Utah, and California. One of the nicest touches was having complimentary bottled water and soda in our fridge to take with us for sightseeing each day. Because the inn had no vacancy for our last night in Manhattan, we were able to use the free in-room internet/computer/telephone to make numerous calls and searches for alternative lodging for our final night, at no extra charge. What a lifesaver that was. And when we were ready to check-out, Rafael drove us to the other hotel to drop off our luggage and then took us to the Path train station, saving us the cost of 2 cab rides!! That's amazing service for you!!! We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Jersey City B & B to anyone looking for great service and comfortable lodging at a truly affordable price. I stayed for a week at the end of October and had a very enjoyable time. The room was very neat and nice and contained all sorts of useful extras - internet, iron, fridge, microwave etc -and Rafael and Lonnie were excellent hosts. Unfortunately, I'm not much of an early-morning eater, which was a shame, as the breakfast spread could feed a small army! For anyone wanting to spend their days in New York, but are limited in their budget. the JC B & B is ideal. It's way cheaper than any equivalent in Manhattan and the core of the Big Apple is only a 15-minute subway jorney away from the local PATH station. I'll definitely be back. Best wishes, Fraser, Scotland.

We stayed 10 days and it was the best deal we ever got at any B and B we ever stayed at. Not only were the rooms clean and comfy, but the breakfast was truly the best we ever had at a B and B. I don't know how you are able to charge such a reasonable rate for the 5 Star quality that you gave us. Thank you Lonnie and Rafael for making our visit with you such a memorable experience. Not only will we be back next year, but we will also be sending many of our friends to you too. And that massage chair was so nice to use every day after our long walks in NYC. What a wonderful first week we had with Lonnie and Raphael at Lonnie's Jersey City B and B. It really is a home away from home. The friendly service you receive from the first moment you meet them, makes you feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was superb, the rooms are so comfortable, with everything you could possibly wish for. Our two boys were able to get on the internet every day and communicate with their friends, all about the amazing sights they were seeing each day. We were often given a lift up to the Path station and then an easy 25 mins into Manhatten by Path train. We used to walk back or catch a cab for about $5.00.It's nice to walk up after breakfast, then you can buy stuff in the shops on the way !! The coffee shop at Journal Square is also nice for a quick pizza, before heading back to the B and B for some nice coffee or tea in your room. We had fresh fruit daily and the fridge was always stocked with cool drinks for the boys. We will definitely stay at Jersey City's B and B again, the boys are already saving. Thank you very much Lonnie for your wonderful hospitality, a rare gem in a jewel of a city ! Kathy and Chris Savage Cape Town South Africa.

I stayed for more than three months in Lonnies B&B.Before I spent many hours to find a accommodation with affordable room rates. It was impossible.Always it was the same one room for 150-200$ per night. When I found a cheaper accommodation was it always with shared rooms and shared bathrooms. It was a coincidence when I found Lonnies B&B.I wrote him an E-mail and made my reservation. It was the best thing that could happen to me.I was so surprised when I saw my room. There was a tv, a fridge, a micro wave, an iron, a telephone with an own number and answering machine and a computer with internet access and printer. For me it was very helpful to had a computer with printer because I printed out many documents for the english school I visited during this three months. The room was always VERY clean and Beena and Rafael stocked daily my fridge with free soft drinks.Rafael prepared every day a delicious breakfest. When Lonnie was available he gave me many times a ride to the PATH train at the Journal Square. For me it was a second home far away from my home.I like to think back to this time.It was a really nice time with you guys.Thank you very much Lonnie, Beena, Rafael and boys Jessie and Johnesson. To summarise: To book a room in Lonnies B&B is one of the best things that can happen to you in New. York. Daniel from Switzerland

Words cannot adequately express my great appreciation for the fine hospitality extended during my recent stay at this B&B. It was my first stay at a B&B, and this host went beyond the call to make it one of my most enjoyable stay. Lonnie was most hospitable, shared not only his time and knowledge of the area, but in a most welcomed way—something I will always remember of this trip. I will definitely look forward to a return. His facilities and staff were great. I just completed a cross Atlantic cruise on the Queen Mary 2 and the rooms at this B&B were larger and better equipped the cabins on the QM2.

I can't think of anything wrong... really fantastic ! After a full day visiting New York, we couldn't wait to go home to rest in this really welcoming place ! the service was awesome. Everyone was really kind and nice, and made this journey even greater ! Lonnie, Rafael were adorable! The cleanliness was as good as possible. And the breakfast : even better then in hotels. The room was spacious and very clean with fab extras such as a mini bar full of soft drinks that was stocked daily at no extra charge and fresh fruit. In our room we had a PC with printer and full internet access and full cable for the TV including movies etc. Beena (housekeeping) was fab, she was filling in for the cook when we stayed and did a marvellous job! Her egg concoction was just fab! Housekeeping is daily at the B&B and the standards are second to none, fab job Beena! Lonnie is really helpful and always available for advice and even a ride to the PATH train! This B&B made for the most perfect accommodations on our recent boyfriend/girlfriend visit to NYC. We loved our room on the top floor and felt so taken care of by our hosts Lonnie and Rafael. They had great tips for our subway/path transportation and terrific ideas for places to visit. While Rafa's delicious breakfast prepared us for each day, it was the surprisingly massage chair we especially liked the most. What a treat! Our stay could not have been better nor the location more perfect, we where only 10 mins walking distance from Journal Square, and from there in 10 minutes we arrived at the World Trade Center site. It was very easy for first timers like us. Ernesto from Argentina.

We had a wonderful time at the B&B was very clean and beautifully presented. There were quite a few shops, Cafes, Lounges and restaurants nearby at Journal Square and Grove Street that we really liked! When I wanted to go to Manhattan it was very easy and fast and in the same subway station I took the 33th street sub that leaves me just 6 blocks from Times Square and runs 24hrs. The house made breakfasts were delicious and his knowledge of Manhattan was really helpful. Talking to the other guests was fascinating and was always full of wonderful people coming in&out. They speak fluent Spanish to that was a plus for me, I really felt like home, can’t wait to return!! After those long walks in Manhattan we came back really tired and my wife and I really liked using the free fancy massage chair when we got back to your place. I usually stay in Manhattan. Once you add the cost of Parking, the cost is just too expensive. I was looking for a alternative and I found an excellent one with this place. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about a B&B in Jersey City, but after staying here, I'll never go back to the city. The rooms and suites are huge by anyone's standard. I checked in and saw a nice size bedroom and was pretty happy with it. I didn't realize that I had a big living room to go with it as well. I had a private microwave/refrig. The refrig was stocked with different sodas, all included. A coffee making machine, not those little drip ones you see in hotels. TV with so many channels. Not only do you get all this, but it also includes a full breakfast and parking. They are a 10 minute walk to the Train Station that gets you into Manhattan in a matter of minutes. They even have a pinball machine and a incredible massage chair. I will never stay in the city again as long as they are open. Thank you for the hospitality.

We stayed in the Suite. This room was so great. We both loved the balcony with the super view of Manhattan and all the extra room in your spacious living room. And your King size bed was so comfortable that we slept like babies every night. You guys thought of everything, from the little things like Q-tips and mouthwash in the bathroom, to free sodas and a robe and iron and ironing board in our room also. YOU ARE BOTH THE BEST. We will recommend all our friends and family to stay with you, and already I know my brother-in-law will be calling you next week for a room sometime in February. They'll only be there for 5 days, but they're fun people just like us. And also, I want to let you know that all those amenities were amazing. From the time I arrived to the time I left, I felt at home. Just a 10 Minute walk to the Train, I was just 3 stops away from Manhattan. The rooms are big and comfortable. I decided to stay an extra night. I had to change rooms, but they made this as seemless as possible. Breakfast was great. Everything revolved around eggs, but the eggs were prepared differently each of the 3 days I was there. A working Pinball Machine was a added bonus. You are not limited to the 15 to 20 channels most hotel TVs has, but a full package of channels including most Premimum Channels. There is a computer in all of the rooms, so you do not have to bring one if it is not needed. Between Breakfast, Parking and Internet included in the price, it is the best deal I have found in the area. Thank you for the hospitality, Lonnie. I look forward to staying with you soon. J. What else can I say to Lonnie & Tesi but thank you and thank you and thank you for a wonderful vacation. My wife and I are from England and we just spent 10 days at their place. We left there December 23rd. By the time we left we felt like we were part of the family. To start, I just wanted to especially thank Lonnie for offering us rides to the path train many mornings. Although we only took him up on his offer the two days it rained, it was very thoughtful of him to offer. My wife and I are real health fanatics and we just love to walk. It's only a half mile to get to the train and we always got there in ten minutes anyway. And once we arrived in the city we always walk a few extra miles a day besides! And Tesi thanks so much for all those great breakfasts. I love the way you always gave us a nice variety & there was always more then enough so that we were usually full till dinnertime. And everything was so immaculately clean all the time that it really made us feel at home because we keep our house in England very clean so your super cleaning lady everyday really made us very happy. And what a great value you are for the money. I see now why you won that award for best value at Bed and Breakfast for 2008-2009. And that three thousand dollar massage chair was absolutely unbelievable. It was so nice of you to let us use it every night after our long walks in the city. What else can I say? You are two wonderful people who really enjoy sharing your wealth of knowledge and your beautiful newly renovated home with everyone, and you thus made our visit to the United States one of our most memorable trips we have ever had. we had chosen Jersey City's BB as the first place to stay in the States. We were surprised to discover a clean and comfortable Suite for the four of us. We stayed for 4 days and we intend to return in some years. It was also surprising that Lonnie's ancestors came from a place near our home town Mannheim,Germany.

We stayed one week at the Jersey City Bed and Breakfast and it was great!! Very friendly people, great room and a great breakfast too! And the nice thing is, you can sleep real quiet there, after you've bin into Manhattan all day! The beds are very good! That's also important wenn you walked Manhattan all day long! Soooo, don't hesitate and book it now! Greetz from Peter and Christa, Holland (or better, the Netherlands!)

We stayed here for 6 nights from 25 Oct to 31 Oct 2008. Lonnie and Tesi offer a very warm welcome. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our "room" was actually 2 rooms, a bedroom with a king sized bed & a TV with cable. The other was a family room where our son slept. This room has a PC and printer with all the stationary anyone would require. There was a fridge which had complimentary drinks replenished daily, a coffee /tea machine, a microwave and another TV. Not least, this room offers an unrivaled view of Manhattan. Lonnie offered to drive us to the Path Train Station at Journal Square every morning. Tesi cooks breakfast every morning, at a time of your choice. Her food is delicious and she is great company. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to New York City. We won't consider staying anywhere else when we come back to New York on holiday. We had been in NY for many times and stayed in different hotels. Frankly this is the best place we had ever stayed in New York [close]. It is very close to Manhattan, within 10-15 minutes by train, so location is perfect. The rooms are very comfortable [if you dont have your own computer + printer don't mind you have it in your room with free internet], clean and you feel your self in your house. The inn keepars are very freindly, helpful and respectful people. If you go to New York or New Jersey, we can surely recommend to all new guests to this place. The price is very acceptable rate + quality & service are perfect. Next time, we will be again there. Best regards, The family from Turkey

Tessie made great breakfasts and Lonnie even drove us to the train station several times in his own car. We were there for 5 nights and it felt less like a B&B and more like staying with friends. We stayed here after staying 2 days at a hotel in a nearby city. We paid more at the hotel for a lot less ammenities. Getting into NYC was so much easier and a lot faster from Lonnie's place compared to the hotel. The breakfasts were plentiful and outstanding. I waited until 1pm to eat lunch, even though I had breakfast at 7:30am. I probably could have waited even longer. The bed was so comfortable and I had the best nights sleep of my short stay in the NYC area. Lonnie picked us up from the train station and brought us back when we went into NYC. He also brought us back the morning of our departure. The rooms were stocked with refreshements and plenty of fruit. I enjoyed the very plush bathrobe too. My only wish was that I could have stayed the other two nights of my trip. Robin and Randi MacDonald.

I visited NYC alone and stayed 8 nights at B&B. It was like beeing at home. Warm and friendly atmosphare and the room was as big as a small apartment. Reasonable prices, free Internet access, fridge, microwave and, of course, TV. Nice people who really made great efforts to let you feel comfortable. Loonie gave me a ride each morning to the station and Tessie always made a fanciful breakfast. I also liked the talks at the breakfast table and I did not feel like beeing on my own. It just takes you 20 minutes by train to Manhattan and the train goes until midnight (and starts again at 5.00 a.m.) Even to walk from the station to the B&B in the evenings, I felt save all the time. I would highly recommend this place, especially for women travelling alone. Diana / Germany.

(Journal Square Path Train really is an easy 15 minute walk) Tessie was wonderful and she does not hold back on the breakfasts there was always plenty and the food was very hearty. When I was planning my tour to NY/Manhattan - I decided to stay in Jersey City's B&B - Luck was with me - I could not have found a better place. On arrival Tess gave me a very welcome and introduced me to all the facitilities. I stayed there for 9 days. During this time i met people from Italy, South Africa, Holland, Germany, Sweden and I am from Denmark - 81 years Old. We all talked about how satisfied we were to stay in Jersey B&B in a family way. I walk every day to the Path Station very easy about 10 - 15 min away. When I saw the information about Jersey B&B I thought to myself - it is to good too be true, but in the reality it was even much better. The Breakfast was perfect and the room very very clean. The fridge was allways filled with Water, Cola and Sprite and fresh fruit in the Fruit Bowl. Also PC with high speed free internet access and TV with many channels in the room. Lonnie, Tess and Beena did everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible. On top of all that, Lonnie drove me to the Airport the last day on my way home. I was very grateful. I/C.

Jersey City B&B is simply THE place to stay if you're visiting the NY/NJ area. As a lone traveller, I was instantly made to feel at home. I stayed for 5 nights in the suite. The view is amazing. The room has all the facilities you need - a comfortable bed, air conditioning, a mini fridge which is stocked daily with drinks, coffee/tea making facilities, cable TV and internet access - great for keeping in touch with those back home. Lonnie & Tesi were the perfect hosts. I really enjoyed breakfast times, sitting around the table having a chat with them both and the other guests. Tesi cooked wonderful breakfasts - very filling, and Lonnie was more then willing to give me a lift to the PATH station, in fact he insisted on making sure his guests got there OK. The station is literally a 10 minute walk away. You can leave the B&B and be in Manhattan within 30 minutes. I should also mention Beena (I hope I've spelt your name right!). Beena welcomed me into the B&B after my long flight from the UK, showed me to my room, told me a bit about the area and how to get to the station and even cooked breakfast one morning, when Lonnie and Tesi were away. What a star she is! Had great conversations with her - what a credit she is to the B&B. I'm already looking forward to visiting NYC again, and will not hesitate to stay in Jersey City B&B again. My advice to anyone is, don't pay extortionate prices in Manhattan where you are just a number on a guest list, stay here for less and you will be treated as a friend. Chris. Manchester UK.

My grown daughter and I have just returned to our home in Canada after spending eight nights in the home of Lonnie and Tesi. It was our first time staying in a B&B, as well as our first visit to NYC. Had we stayed in Manhattan, our visit would have been much shorter because of the very high cost of accommodation. As most of the reviews have mentioned, Lonnie and Tesi are wonderful hosts, the accommodations and amenities are fabulous and the location very convenient. I had some concerns about safety prior to our arrival simply because we were two women travelling alone. Lonnie reassured me that the area was safe. Indeed, my daughter and I did travel on the PATH train late at night and walked home from the station the first two nights. We would have continued to do so but the 12-14 hour days of walking caught up with us so we opted for the cab. In fact, never once in our nine days did we feel unsafe in NYC or Jersey City. I have already recommended Jersey City's B&B to a lady I met on the plane on the way home.

Hi, I'm from Germany and I'm travelling a lot, due to business purposes. I saw many hotels and other places to stay, but this Bed&Breakfast is the best, most valuable, most comfortable and best located place to stay all over the world. Lonnie and Tessie are some of the friendliest people I ever met. Thanks for that fantastic stay for a very great price. We were a party of four, rented two rooms at Jersey City B&B at the end of august: The rooms are very clean, big and comfortable. And there is everything you'll need: Drinks, fruits, coffee, wireless internet, PCs with printer and a fridge. Room Service (Cleaning) is great, too. The breakfast stands to higher european standards. The PATH station is just 5 min by car or 10 min to walk. From this station you'll need less than 10 min to arrive at Ground Zero or about 20 min to stand in front of the Empire State Building. It's a suberb location to stay, for a very nice price.

The Jersey B&B is ideal when you are coming from Newark airport. In less than half an hour you are in the residence. And in about 12 min from Journal Square (15 min walking from the residence) you are in the WTC area. Lonnie and Tessie are very kind people. They always want to help you. Tessie is a real sweetie and she is very generous for making a good European breakfast if you don't like the American breakfast, like I did. Thank you again Tessie! Lonnie helps you always with his tips and tricks and when he is free, he drives you to the subwaystation. The rooms are very comfortable; you have all what you need and more than that, even fruit, free drinks, free telephone in the US, free internet, free computeruse and printing, airco.... Let's say total complete service. I can advise you to take the suite. We stayed in the room with two beds and later in the suite. If this room is free, take this. It costs a little bit more, but you have a lot more of comfort (greater room). B&B is top and a very good place to stay!

I come from Greece, and, dare I say, we do have our rather exacting ideas about hospitality. Just about any hotel I have been in, anywhere, regardless of price range, totally and completely lacks even traces of what hospitality is about. Thankfully, Lonnie's and Tessie's place is an exception. You are entering into their home, they take care of you, and things feel so right. I stayed there for four nights in mid June and wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else on my next trip. Your only excuse for not staying here is if they are booked... period.

I was blown away by the high prices of hotels in Manhatten. While searching for a bargain, I came across Jersey City B&B at bedandbreakfast.com. I have so much to say about my stay with Lonnie and Tess, because they made a positive impression on me. But, first a little about the accommodations at their Jersey City B & B: Their home is wonderful, with hardwood flooring, soft and comfortable beds, small fridges in every room stocked with beverages and fruit, laptops, phone calls and printers supplied at no extra charge, and great breakfasts! The price was more than reasonable for the convenience and comfort of the stay. I was given a good discount rate for 10 nights which averaged about $50 per night! I was so satisfied with my stay that I recommended the place to an actor friend of mine. Lonnie & Tess were gracious to send me a check as a thank you! It was a nice surprise. I come to NY at least twice per year, but this time was my first for NY Fashion Week. To save money, I had to cut corners in transportation by taking the Amtrak into the city. The train was 5 hrs late and when I got in at 1 am, Lonnie was at the station waiting for me! He carried my heavy luggage up the stairs to his car, took me to grab a bite to eat on the way to his home, and made sure I was settled into my room before he went to bed. The next morning, I met Tess, who is a great cook. We hit it off right away and each morning we had so much to talk about which made my stay even more enjoyable. Lonnie made sure I made the commuter train every morning and Tess made sure I had something to eat before I left for the day. She made breakfast according to my schedule which was very kind. At the end of my stay, Lonnie & Tess made sure everything was ready for me to go and gave me a warm farewell. I thank the couple for creating a warm and fond experience for me.

We stayed at the Jersey City B&B for the 3-day All Points West Festival and we were exceptional surprised at the accommodations. I have stayed in some dives on the Upper-upper east side (read Harlem) and some less than memorable places in Gramercy for comparable and higher prices and this was far better than any of those. I especially don't miss the strung out characters on the door step of the place on the upper-upper east side. When you get down to it, I can get to mid-town Manhattan from Jersey City in about 30 minutes which is similar to the time to get to mid-town from Harlem. Comparisons aside, Jersey City B&B is clean and beautifully remodeled - I really liked the bamboo. Our trip would not have been complete without meeting Lonnie who is such a great host and very hospitable such a great and to think we almost escaped without meeting him. He makes sure guests are not in need of anything and the small things make a difference. Not wanting to lug my computer with me, it was nice to be able to make reservations and look up directions from the computer provided. The view from the suite to Manhattan is bar none. Excellent choice.

I stayed with a friend at the "Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast" for one week, and I can only say, that this week was almost perfect! Everything is as it is described at the website, really everthing! Lonnie is a great innkeeper, very friendly and he really cares about his guests. Also the women who make the breakfast and clean the rooms are friendly and talkative and do a really good job. But now the reason why only "almost perfect": I don't know if it's normal in the US, but at breakfast we had scrambled eggs - every day. There have always been other things like waffles or gems with jelly, but every day we had eggs. We ate the eggs because they were really good but when we returned to Germany we didn't want to see any eggs for a long time. So this is my only point of critique: the missing variety at the breakfast. But despite that, our stay at "Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast" was just perfect, and next time I go to NYC, I will also stay with Lonnie! Thanks a lot, Lonnie and the girls!

We are two teenage sisters who stayed with Lonnie & Tessie from 14 -19 July ( our parents have sent a separate review but we wanted to do one of our own for other teenagers) . We were thoroughly looking forward to staying in New York, and Lonnie and Tessie’s was the perfect place for us to stay. Ellen says “I stayed in Lonnie and Tessie’s when I went to New York on vacation with my family. All the amusements like the video games and the pinball machine were very entertaining. The free internet access and the T.V with over 180 channels were good to have as well. Tessie’s breakfast were delicious and filled you for the whole day. I would definitely recommend that you should stay in Lonnie and Tessie’s. “ Sarah says “ Along with the amusements we had brought with us, the pinball machine, TV, computer and the other fun electrical gadgets kept us thoroughly entertained. The pinball machine was especially good fun and high scores were often compared. Tessie’s breakfasts were really nice and really filled us up for touring round New York all day. The view from the bedroom of New York was beautiful and at night it took your breath away. But best of all was how friendly Lonnie and Tessie were and I would seriously recommend you ask Lonnie to show you his magic tricks. They’ll confound you and best of all make you laugh; sheer magic! “

We stayed at Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast for three nights. The owner picked us up at the train station and later drove us to Liberty Park, so we could catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty. Our well-stocked "suite" was clean and comfortable, a cooked breakfast was waiting for us at the time we wanted it and we had a computer in our room to use free of charge. All in all, we felt right at home and really appreciate how the owners made sure we were comfortable and welcomed. It is about a mile from the train into NYC which is not the most peasant walk but a quick/cheap cab ride away.

We stayed at this bed and breakfast in the king size room en suite for 10 days and we found it to be an excellent place to stay with all the amentities that you could think of. Although outside New York it was a short walk to the train station with took about 10 mins so didn't take much out of your day. Owners couldn't do enough for you and helped to make our stay very comfortable and unforgetable! Would highly recommend it!

We recently stayed here in June 2008 and found it to be a very nice place. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with nice furnishings. They provide everything you could possibly need such as a laptop computer in your room, with internet and printer, complimenatry drinks and fruit in your room each day, hair dryer, shampoos, etc. This place has a very homey feeling to it that provides creates a relaxing atmosphere, without all the to-do of a big hotel chain. It's almost like you become a part of the family while your there. The owners were very friendly and more than helpful. You simply won't get this quality of accomodations at this price, staying in Manhattan. Definitely the better way to go when visiting New York; simply hop on the PATH train to get into Manhattan (takes about 20 min). As for our dining experience at breakfast, the dining table is well presented, but I think the breakfasts could be a little more creative, such as muffins, bagels, yogurt... Regardless, this is a great place, very quiet, good location, friendly people.

Finding appropriate accommodation while visiting New York for the first time felt a little daunting: convenience, cleanliness, safety, price were all concerns. We saw the reviews on the web and decided so many positive comments must give a decent picture of how things really are. Lonnie and Tess provide great hospitality in excellent accommodations at a very reasonable price. The two suites we stayed in were clean and spacious enough for the three of us- two adults, one teen. Each room was equipped with tv, computer, phone, fridge with beverages, a bowl of fresh fruit and - a necessity during the record June temperatures we experienced – an air conditioner. Obviously, staying outside of Manhattan is less convenient than staying in Manhattan but we felt comfortable taking the 20 minute walk to the station whose trains take you directly to midtown Manhattan or the World Trade Center. (Lonnie is often available for lifts to the station). Tess provided us with tasty and ample breakfasts and delightful conversation. Coming or going, early or late, we always felt at home. Our week-long visit to New York gave us many cherished memories - including our stay at Jersey City’s Bed and Breakfast.

I stayed here when I simply could not find affordable, decent accommodation in Manhattan. I have absolutely no complaints about the room. I stayed in the king room with shared bath and simply loved the convenience of an in-room computer and fridge, with water and soft drinks included. There was also a coffee/hot chocolate machine which was such a treat at the end of a long day. I did, however, re-affirm my dislike of a shared bathroom. Even though my room only shared with one other room, there happened to be 3 other people in that room and it was tough getting ready in the mornings with 4 people trying to get into the small bathroom. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. All in all, I loved the room and you really feel as if you are sharing a home with someone - so if you find hotels too impersonal, this should work for you.

When I first drove into Jersey City I was starting to get worried about how the bed and breakfast would compare to the not so accomidating landscape of the town; however, when I got to the bed and breakfast I was met by the very welcoming owner, Lonnie, and he showed us to our room which was beyond what I could have ever hoped for on any budget, let alone the outstandingly low price I was paying for it, a mere one hundred dollars a night. The room was immaculately clean and quaintly decorated, but this quantness did not pertain to the size of the room as well. The first room consisted of a giant bed and a big screen TV, which had the full package Comcast On Demand hooked up to it. The second room was even more spacious and had two closets, a very nice computer hooked up to high speed internet, a coffee maker, a large couch, a mini fridge, and yet another TV, not to mention the balcony which overlooks New York's skyline and gives a beautiful view at night when the city is alight. Did I mention the room was only one hundred dollars a night? A comparitive room in Manhattan would easily be three to four hundred dollars a night. With that price disparity it is very easy to pay the eight dollar Holland Tunnel fee each day to enter the city. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast and already have to multiple people who have yet to find a gem such as this to stay at.

We stayed for 10 days and it was a very good decision. After arrival at airport we phoned Lonnie and he advised how to go and at Journal Square (PATH station; about 15 minutes by foot) he picked us up to get us (and our luggage) to his place - very helpful. During our stay we felt like home, very famliar. Rooms were great - we appreciated air condition, ceiling fan, laptop (with printer and high speed internet access) and comfortable beds. The room was separated into two parts. On the one hand were beds, large TV and accessible wardrobe. On the other hand: desk with laptop, printer and microwave, fridge (beverages restocked daily) and basket of fruits. Bathroom was shared with one other party. Host people were very friendly, helpful and obliging. And, we got keys for the house, so we could come and go at anytime we would like to. As I allready said, we felt like home. If you would like to travel to NYC we very recommend to stay at Jersey City's Bed and Breakfast. And at least - price is very fair. Again, thank you very much. I spent 5 nights at Lonnie & Tessies and from day 1 i was made to feel as though i was part of the family. There were 2 sections to my room 1st part contained a fridge stocked daily with free soft drinks or water, on top of the fridge were a fresh selction of different fruit, a laptop computor which i used daily to check my mail back in the UK & there was also a coffe making machine. The 2nd part there were 2 double beds, fitted wardrobes & a massive colour tv which had 100's of channels. The room & bedding were immaculate. Every morning at breakfast which you had to book in advance (only fair for Tessie otherwise it would be a very long day for her) i had omellete, toast, coffee, fresh orange juice and a selction of jams & yogurt were also available. while eating breakfast you had the wonderful tessie to talk to. When it was time to go sightseeing in New York Lonnie if available will take you to the Journal Square Path train station. There are 2 trains 1 takes you to World Trade Center the other to 33rd St (Empire State Building) to get back go to 34th St and get Path train back to Journal Square. to get back to Lonnie & Tessies get a taxi approx $7.00 this includes tip. Thanks Lonnie & Tess i had a great time in New York and your place was the icing on the cake.

I arrived very late night 11pm at New jersey Journal path station and there the Wonderful INN_KEEPer came to pick us up, cause we were first time and didn't know our WAY around. Rooms were wonderful, warm at that time but there was Airconditioner. Next Morning wonderful breakfast served by the best hostess Lady Ms Tessa. Going to New york was easy and fun for all our family, (myself, spouse, daughter 14 and son 10. New Jersey PATH takes you to downtown in no time and there we are at the heart of downtown Manhattan. Our stay at this wonderful place for 4 nights was fun for my family and kids loved the INNkeepers grand kids to playwith and video games and arcades. I recommend Jersey city bed and breakfast to Every Person living in this Universe wanting to have a nice vacation, homely feeling, friendly host and safe environment. Lonnie and Tessie, thanks a lot for everything.. For my girlfriend was the first experience in NY and after looking like crazy in Manhattan we decide to stay at Jersey City... guys it's really easy to access NY via Path Train (use the Smarlink card more convenient). Breakfast was huge, compare to our poor little coffe in the morning. We left the luggage to Lonnie during our 2 days trip to Niagara Falls... negative, nothing a part that we move the last two days to Hotel (D. Tree).. was good just the cookies but not like the Tessie Breakfast. Thanks again from Andrea and Nicoletta (Italy). For sure we will be back... I love NY. P.S. The hotel we stayed in NYC couldn't accommodate all the days we requested so my boyfriend and I decided to stayed at Jersey City B&B on our last night since we are flying home from Newark Airport. After days of non-stop walking in Manhattan it was so wonderful to arrive at Lonnie & Tesi's for so many reasons: 1. We slept like babies because the king size bed in our room on the top floor was so comfortable 2. We had a living room attached to our bedroom that was spacious and welcoming with refreshments and all nessarities (TV, Computer, Internet, Stationary etc.) 3. Our room also has a balcony that overlooking the beautiful Manhattan skyline 4. We were able to leave our luggages until late afternoon at the house after we checked out while we went to Statue of Liberty and watched a movie 5. Tesi's hearty breakfast was soooo yummy (Hot egg & Ham Omelette, yogurts, fruits, bread, crossiant, juice, coffee, tea; you name it they have it) 6. Best of all was Lonnie's assistance - we were stuck at Newport Mall because we couldn't find a taxi for 40 minutes - frustrated, desperate and running out of time to go to airport to catch our flight home, I called Lonnie. He was a life saver by picking us up without questions with our luggages already in his trunk so we can get to the airport on time. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to stay with Lonnie & Tesi's especially if you are going to be in NYC for a longer period of time. Because besides what they have to offer, price is extremely affordable and it is just a 30 mins ride (including PATH train & taxi) from heart of Manhattan. Thanks again for everything. Peggy & James

We had lived in Jersey City for four years and our interest peaked when we saw a B&B located in JC. We just HAD to try it! Although this B&B is not super close to public train transport (there are buses right there to take you to the train if you're lazy... but, it's an easy walk that's part of the whole NYC/JC experience...), this B&B was an absolute find! Great comfort, ample food, great price and the best: Lonnie and his wife's hospitality-- so nice and accommodating. Lonnie's a local and his down-to-earth demeanor and knowledge of the area are not only of great help if you're a tourist, but he's got the local accent and attitude to go with it that'll make your trip complete. We really enjoyed our stay there a lot and would recommend it to others without hesitation.

After first spending several nights in a large hotel in midtown Manhattan, we really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality that we experienced at the Jersey City B&B. Our family of 7 (parents, 3 kids, and grandparents) found Lonnie and Tessie’s B&B to be a wonderfully affordable, family friendly place to stay. Free cold drinks and fruit, in-room internet access with printer, and the short car ride to Journal Square Station (where we hopped on a PATH train to Manhattan for $1.75 on the Metro Card) were just a few of the amenities we enjoyed. Lonnie provided great travel and dining tips and Tessie was so kind to pack us fresh breakfast muffins on the morning when we had to leave early for the airport. We highly recommend this B&B!

Because we have stayed in NYC for 14 days, we chose to stay with Lonnie and Tesi basically because of a very competitive price. The value of this Lonnie’s offer has exceeded our expectation. The house is newly refurbished. Authentic Andy Warhol’s Campbell Soup prints (circa 1972) in the dinning room, as well as, another beautiful authentic print in the bedroom we have stay in, were a tremendous bonus! A suite we have stayed in had real king size bed with an extremely comfortable mattress! It was so important after 12 -14 hours of walking in the City. Nice linen, very clean room, Huge TV- with a free on demand. Magnificent!!!Great view of the Manhattan from the balcony!! Wonderful breakfasts, everyday different, our favorite omelets served up to the minute, so do not be late for breakfast, as it will be cold. (Sorry Tesi for requesting first few breakfasts at 6.30AM - jet lag). In the room - free coffee, tee, hot chocolate, free mini bar, free wifi, and a computer. We stayed for 14 days in the City, out of which only 10 with Lonnie and Tess, as there was no vacancy. They are filling quickly so I suggest make up your mine quickly. At the morning ask Lonnie to give you a ride to waterfront of Jersey City. Take a walk from Colgate Clock along the waterfront and have another view of the Manhattan. Walk to Exchange station of the PATH train and go one stop to WTC. I also recommend doing the same on the other side of the Manhattan, through the Brooklyn Bridge taking a walk to Brooklyn Heights. Have fun!

I stayed with Lonnie and Tessie for a week in January 08, and to say they make you feel very welcome is an understatement! They picked me up from Newark Airport for a very resonable cost, and the house itself is immaculate! I had a room on the top floor, with a very comfortable bed, huge TV with Cable, fridge with drinks (free!), fresh fruit (free!), hi speed internet and laptop (free!), and a lovely big bathrobe to slob around in :o) Tessie does an outstanding breakfast that really sets you up for the day, and Lonnie was very helpful with rides to the PATH train station and ideas on where to go and what to visit. Its only a few minutes drive to the Path station, but even if you walk it only 10-15 mins. The neighbourhood is quite, and I didn't feel worried about walking back from the station at all. From the PATH statiopn, its only 15 mins maximum into Manhatten, so Jersey City B&B is an excellent base for a trip to the City. Amazing value, great food, lovely company and hospitallity.....what more could you ask for! Thanks for a great time L&T, it really made my trip!! PS Lonnie, have you got that massage chair yet ;o)

Very friendly, quiet and...economical My wife and I are French and 65 five years old. For our first visit to NYC, we were slightly worried when arriving to Lonnie's after a long taxi drive through the huge town. But our accommodation was so pleasant with a complete, very clean and comfortable equipement and Lonnie and Tesi so kind and anxious to help their guests for any problem that our fear disappeared at once. And, after a good night and a lavish breakfast, we started gladly to discover Manhattan. And we spent then 5 really pleasant days. Note that it is very easy to go from Jersey City to Manhattan by train: 15 mn on foot to the station (but Lonnie drove us many times); 10 mn after, you arrive in the middle of Financial District(South Manhattan) or near the Empire State Building in Midtown.

We have had a great experience with the very friendly hosts Lonnie and Tessi! They served a huge breakfast every morning at the time preferred. Lonnie gave us a ride to the nearby PATH-station "Journal Square" every morning. The B&B is located in a quiet street, only 8-10 minutes walk to the PATH, which brings you to Manhatten in another 10 minutes or so. We stayed four nights in the ground level room with a private bath room, our own computer incl. high speed internet access, a large TV and a comfortable King Size Bed. Everything was very clean and cosy, so we would go there again at anytime! Thanks again for everything, guys!!!

For young people it's almost impossible to stay in NYC area for about 2 weeks without spending 100s of $s for a dirty room in a nasty hotel. Lonnie's & Tesi's B&B is THE base to discover NYC for reasonable prices and outstanding service. Well, you can't value "good caracter"... alone the two guys are worth a visit. Also the short walk to the subway-station made it easy for me to stay mobile! Dining is awesome as well: Tesi's Banana-Avocado-Combo or their supreme lassagne were delicious :-) Thanx again, Lonnie and Tesi, for the wonderful stay!

I recently stayed 3 nights with Lonnie and Tesi. This place was great. Only minutes away from the Holland Tunnel, and a few blocks away from the Path Train. I felt very safe taking the short walk to the train. The breakfast each morning was outstanding and the price was unbelievable. This place gets 2 thumbs up from me! I will be in New York next year and I've found a place to call home!!! This beautiful Bed and Breakfast is "Too good to be true".

As we know staying in the NYC area can be pricey and this proved to be a fantastic affordable option for my wife and I. The accommodation was very comfortable and the hosts were extremely nice & friendly people. The hi speed FREE cable internet in the room was a big ++ for me and my wife really enjoyed the excellent Cable TV while I planned all our days events in the Big City. We were given a filling breakfast each morning that was well prepared and a great way to start our day. I can only highly recommend staying here , this was a gem of find for us.

This has to be one of the best B&B places around. The place is lovely! Extremely immaculate, wondering innkeepers, and it's cheap. Lonnie and Tessy were extremely hospitable and helpful, especially with rides. I couldn't ask for anything more! Thanks!

This was my husband and my first time in Jersey and we will most definitely be back! We’re originally from California, but we live in Georgia now, so we were looking forward to a great time in a bigger city again. It was a phenomenal stay, much because our host Lonnie provided such a beautiful room with the perfect accommodations for us to be able to sit back and relax while not feeling too isolated. The room was incredibly clean and comfortable with such a comfortable bed. When we did venture out of the room, Lonnie was available to point us in the right direction to really enjoy what the city had to offer. We will be back as soon as possible, thanks so much!

My first time in NYC. Stayed there for 5 nights. Never had such a clean location. We had a large bed on ground floor and although we had a jetlag could sleep very comfortable. Drinks, internet access and much more just for free! At this price! And the innkeepers are absolutely caring. Just lovely people. As Jay and Cameron Hill (I met them personally!) stated: this will be my location, when I stay in NYC. Many thanks to Tessie and Lonnie! As we Germans would say: Super! All the best from Rainier Kaczmarczyk from Munich!

I stayed there for 5 nights. The price/quality relation was fantastic. You get a very good, extremely clean B&B with a very helpful innkeeper that tries to make his guests as happy as possible. The breakfast is very good and is flexibly served. Also around lunchtime, when one wants to sleep a bit longer. I couldn't have gotten anything better for this price.

We loved staying here at this beautiful B&B hosted by a lovely family. The food is delicious (the cook is a former chef internationally). Free internet and drinks made this place an unbelievable bargain based on location. Check the prices in New York City, and then check the prices here, you will pay 1/3 of the price at this B&B with three times the amenities. By the way, I loved the tempur-pedic bed (my first time sleeping in one) - thanks for everything!

This is a very good value and a comfortable, cozy place to stay with a delightful home environment and a very friendly innkeeper. The bed is comfortable, everything is spotlessly clean, the breakfast is delicious and filling . . . and the location can't be beat! Well, for the price. I'd rather pay the going rate for Jersey City B&B and be 10 minutes from Manhattan than pay $300 and up and be in Manhanttan. This B&B is the best option in this price range! Totally recommended--I go to New York City twice per year and this is a good way to do it for those with budgets, as I am, and I will be staying here again next month!

I paid $60 for the whole first floor of the house. It had my own room with my own bathroom and a king size bed and an extra area with a gigantic desk and a computer with Internet access. There was also a great Pinball Machine too that I really enjoyed playing. Being only about a mile away from the Holland Tunnel into Manhattan I couldn't believe what a great price I got. This place was amazingly clean and I don't think I've every stayed anywhere where I got a better bang for my buck! The bed, by the way, had to be one of the most comfortable beds I ever slept on. The owners were extremely helpful in every way possible. I really enjoyed my visit here. The free Internet and free Cable movies along with a lot of other great amenities made my stay there a truly pleasurable one
