My wife travels with her work often, and I join her when possible. We've stayed in some of the finest Inns and B&Bs in the state of New York and The Dane Emmerson House is, without a doubt, one of the best we have ever experienced. We just returned from an evening at Craigs' flawless B&B, and felt inspired to write. Craig (the innkeeper) provided hospitality that was simply beyond reproach. He was welcoming and attentive - and a great cook to boot -without ever being overbearing or invasive. Think about it... the B&B business is a tough one to pull off. Bringing 'strangers' into your (in Craig's case - obviously beloved) home and making them feel thoroughly at ease and welcomed is harder than it appears. He pulls it off humbly and with grace. No detail was overlooked, and we were grateful to have crossed paths with Craig and to have experienced all that he has created at The Dane Emmerson House.

My husband and I stayed here our wedding weekend - which was two weekends ago. We had never stayed at a B&B before. When we began searching for a place to spend our special weekend at, we were looking for an environment that was quiet, intimate, and just different. We began searching for B&B's online and visited several around the Fingerlakes area before making our decision. Once we toured the property and read all the wonderful reviews about the Dane Emerson House online, we decided to give it a try! It was the best decision we could've made! We were SO pleased with the room (we stayed in the Manor Room), the breakfasts were delicious and unique, and the cleanliness of the entire house was superb! My husband and I just spent two nights at the Dane Emerson House, while visiting the Finger Lakes wineries. Craig is a gracious host and a terrific cook. His breakfasts were delicious (my husband says Craig's silky omelette is the best he has ever had). We stayed in the Map Room. It featured a firm king-sized bed, good sheets (very important to me), a flat-screen TV and a small adjacent sitting room with a comfy chair and ottoman. There is plenty of hot water in the shower and the bathroom was immaculate. The grounds are lovely and very private, yet it's close enough to Ithaca to be convenient to the restaurant scene. I travel a lot for business and I have become pretty picky about my accommodations. Nonetheless, we were very happy with our first visit to the Dane Emerson House. We will definitely stay there again next year when we make our annual Reisling pilgrimage to the Finger Lakes.

This was an awesome place to stay. We loved the look of the rooms from the website but when we got there, it was beyond words. The views of the yard and grounds were beautiful. The house had tons of antiques and they we're perfectly selected to match the room and atmosphere. My wife and I cannot say enough about our stay, it was perfect and we're generally fussy people. Worth every bit and we'd stay there again.

I surprised my husband with a romantic getaway weekend in March to the Dane Emerson House outside of Ithaca and the finger lakes. We found all of our expectations met while staying at the DEH. We stayed at the Dane Emerson during our son's graduation weekend and it could not have been better. The house is so wonderful and Craig has done an excellent job of making it feel homey and comfortable yet with modern conveniences. It was a most welcome respite from the graduation activities and only a few minutes from downtown Ithaca. Our only regret is that we didn't find the Dane Emerson House before our son graduated! The Dane Emerson House strikes the perfect balance as a whole. Whether it is the location, being secluded yet a short drive to all that Ithaca and the surrounding area has to offer. Or the innkeeper, Craig, who was very attentive to our needs, and still gave us our privacy. Breakfast was great, too! The Dane Emerson House experience is truly worthy of a special occasion. We stayed for our anniversary, and I don't know how it could have been nicer. We felt pampered, and yet our innkeeper, Craig, left us alone to enjoy the quiet and peace of the beautifully-restored inn. We strolled through the barn, relaxed on the porch, and just generally felt very comfortable. The spa tub in our room was wonderful, as was the massive four-poster bed. The home is immaculate and charmingly decorated throughout, and Craig lives on-premises - ready to provide the finishing touches you may need to make your stay perfect.

I took a last minute trip to Ithaca and had no problem booking a room here (off season). The innkeeper was very accommodating and even tolerated our late arrival. The house was gorgeous. We first stayed at the Dane Emerson House in May 2008. We fell in love with it instantly! Every room was absolutely beautiful and amazed us with the attention it was given and elegance and warmth that invites you to stay a while. We were lucky enough to be there a day before anyone else had reservations and got to explore all the bedrooms and see how unique and luxurious each was. We liked staying in the Map room so much that we reserved it again the second time we stayed in April 2009. We didn't even bother to look for any other B&Bs because of how much we liked our stay here. And it sure wasn't just the decor. Craig was awesome. He is very kind and personable and is a big reason for the great experiences that we've had. His breakfasts are definitely worth making it to. Being able to enjoy being in a place that is not just a 'place for the night' gives us one more reason to return to the area year after year.

My husband and I stayed at the Dane Emerson House on our first visit to Cornell University and were very happy to have found this intriguing place. The Bed and Breakfast is lovingly cared for and has been beautifully restored and decorated (this comment comes from two architects). We felt pampered in the sense that all of our needs were so graciously attended to by our host, who was both warm and professional. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was perfect - one of the best cups of coffee I have tasted and a savory plate of egg frittata with roasted potatoes and a fresh strawberry garnish that will be hard to forget. I first visited the Dane Emerson House in the winter when I was looking for a place to hold my wedding. I instantly new this was the perfect setting for what I had envisioned and Craig, the innkeeper, put me at ease after what was becoming a long month of searching. I was certain that he would take care of me and cover any bases that I may have forgotten. Come wedding time in August I couldn't believe how beautiful everything looked. I chose the Dane Emerson House for our October anniversary weekend of 5 days not only because it was located just outside of Ithaca, our destination, but because of Craig, our host. Prior to booking and arrival, Craig was most accommodating in our every request and answered all my questions about his location and amenities. Upon reflection, I can tell you that Craig served an excellent homemade gourmet breakfast every morning. He provided us with excellent advise, maps and directions, opinions on restaurants and activities. The dining room was stocked with wine, chocolates, mini muffins, fruit and water bottles at all times. Craig magically appeared when we had questions and magically disappeared when we engaged in private conversations in the common areas. I'm not sure, but I think Craig waited up for us to return each night. I would definitely recommend Craig and the Dane Emerson House for any length of visit and any occasion. It will be difficult for future B&B experiences to live up to the expectations now set by Craig and the Dane Emerson House. Thank you Craig for a most relaxing long weekend!

Shortly after our arrival, we were dreaming up reasons to return. The friendly greeting, gorgeous house, and beautiful grounds let us immediately ease into our vacation. Rather than spending much time in Ithaca or touring the wineries, we chose to spend the majority of our time relaxing at the inn. The back deck is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon reading, conversing, or picnicking. The breakfasts were lovely, and they kindly accommodated a vegetarian diet. What a spectacular place, and what a spectacular stay. From the moment arriving on the grounds, I knew it was going to be something extraordinary. The Finger Lakes B&B's can often seem like they are doing "you" the favor of giving you a place to stay, but not here. From the time you arrive- you feel at home, and as if you were always welcome in this grand home. The decor is impeccable, and something to admire or cherish with every turn of the head. The rooms are truly all individually appointed, and the pictures on the site don't do the place justice- until you are actually on site and immersed in this oasis of taste and attention to detail. Breakfast was lovingly prepared and served in the dining room. A relaxing walk on the grounds is highly recommended, and it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway or a place to unwind on a trip to faster-paced Ithaca.

The beauty and warmth of this creative haven is just what makes Ithaca the few miles surrounded by reality. This B&B is like no other, with an innkeeper that makes the most amazing blueberry waffles and tops them off with a smile. The grounds are exquisite, with a historical barn greeting you at the top of the driveway. If you are planning an event, this is definitely the place to choose. We haven't found any place like this in New York!

Dane Emerson B&B is a fabulous experience. The rooms are impeccible and comfortable. We stayed in the Manor Room and had a whirlpool that two people fit into comfortably. The furnishings--many designed by the proprieter--are luxurious without making the guest feel as though she's in a museum. At night, after returning from dinner, we enjoyed the peaceful back deck and were treated to cranberry scones fresh from the oven. Many little extras--a DVD collection and DVD player in each room, a complimentary snack bar, great bath products--complete the experience. We felt at home our entire stay there but with much better service!

Some friends and I booked this entire B&B for the weekend and ALL of us LOVED IT!!!!!!!! I can't recommend this place enough. The location was good, the setting great and the service outstanding. I found this B&B by chance and am so glad I did. We all agreed that we would stay there again in a heartbeat. We stayed in the Le Mar room, but every room is amazing and has something different to make them unique. This B&B compares to any 4 star hotel I've been in. Great job, Craig!

Our stay was a sensory treat in every way. No matter where I looked, there was an esthetically appealing display. The bed and bedding were luxurious, and the breakfast delicious. Even the freshness of the air was appealing (and I hate candle-shop smells). No detail was left unattended, and the level of cleanliness, beyond reproach. I had the pleasure of staying at the Dane Emerson House this fall. My son is a freshman at Ithaca College and we were there for parents weekend. My parents accompanied us. My husband and I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and this was by far one of the nicest. The house is furnished and decorated beautifully. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. Although we the leaves had already fallen the grounds were still beautiful. We sat on the deck early evening and it was so relaxing. We have already made our reservation for next years parents weekend and can't wait to go back.

Recently, my husband and I were fortunate enough to have stayed at the Dane Emerson house bed and breakfast. It is a wonderful, lovely and warm inn that is decorated beautifully. The innkeepers are very friendly and fun and attentive to all your needs. We especially enjoyed the grounds and the barn is spectacular – clearly the nicest, well-preserved barn in the area. The inn is located a stone’s throw away from Ithaca and the nearby lakes.
