After visiting Cooperstown, we spent three and a half
days in the Finger Lakes region, and the Merrills couldn't have been more helpful. The food was delicious, and they gave us excellent directions and
recommendations as to where to dine, what to see,
what would be specifically fun for us, and maybe most importantly since our visit was limited, what to
avoid. We had a great time! They were extremely
friendly and hospitable, and the entire first floor was
ours to relax in and enjoy their company. It has been
awhile since we've stayed in a B&B, and our expectations were high, and they exceeded them.
Oh...and the pets were great too! We look forward
to going back someday, and have GREAT memories.

I decided to plan a brief two-night getaway to the Finger Lakes, for I have wanted to go to "Wine Country" for over three years, but there were always reasons that my husband and I made the choice to "wait" until...... to take this trip. Well, no more, I booked our room at Echoes of the Glen only several days before our scheduled departure, and cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. We stayed in the Seneca Room, located on the first floor, a tastefully decorated room on the first floor. The personal touches, souvenirs from the innkeepers travels to Central America as well as local photos of the Finger Lakes region all tied together to promote a room with a fun, thoughtful theme. Barbara and Tom were attentive and gracious hosts, sharing stories of the local area and their experiences together, offering coupons and recommendations for local businesses and wineries, and providing us with numerous ideas for the adventures we could plan during our stay. Two highlights of our stay at the Inn itself were the amazing breakfast prepared by Barbara....gourmet and tasty! Our first morning, she made a breakfast bread, baked apples with cinnamon, sausage, and pancakes with berries. (My husband and I did not eat lunch and actually shared a dinner that evening....) The second morning we had fresh baked muffins and an egg bake with local cheeses, potatoes, and broccoli. Delicious:) The second highlight of our stay were the adorable and friendly pets, two cats, Rita and Teddy and a dog, Smokey. They were friendly as well as entertaining, we spent many relaxing moments observing and laughing at their antics. We even had the opportunity to take Smokey for a walk before we wrapped up our respite. I would highly recommend Echoes of the Glen to anyone who wants to be guaranteed a lovely, welcoming atmosphere when visiting Watkins Glen/ the Finger Lakes Region. View Reviewer Info

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful B&B last weekend and we were very very impressed. Where do I begin? The owners, Barbara and Tom, are extremely personable, talkative, knowledgeable, and kind people. The house is renovated, it looks simply new on the inside, and boasts all the amenities, including free Wi-Fi (not that there's a good reason to stay indoors on the Internet). The rooms are clean, comfortable, and our room had a TV with tons of channels and a DVD player and an alarm clock with an iPod dock. There are a few small perks that are so thoughtful, like a collection of DVDs and CDs one can freely borrow from and a small fridge stocked with complementary bottles of water. The common living room has a huge TV and we enjoyed a movie and some local wine there on our last night, which we designated as "low key." It was like being at home.
Barbara's breakfasts are to die for. French toast stuffed with ham, freshly baked treats, home-made strawberry jam, fluffy baked omlets - you name it.
If you want to be nit-picky, the only inconvenience was the (new) shower stall. It was just too narrow to bend down and clean the lower part of one's body. But it didn't spoil our overall experience in the least.
Oh, and did I mention that they own a 1968 Mustang? Coolest people ever. View Reviewer Info

This was our third stay with Barb and Tom (the second this year). We have two trips already booked for next year.
From the moment you walk through the door you feel like you're home. Barb and Tom treat everyone as if they are family. The Bed and Breakfast is immaculate and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Each morning you wake up to the wonderful smell of fresh baked muffins or kuchens. Then there's breakfast! Breakfast is usually an egg bake, stuffed French toast or apple pancakes and sausage, with fresh fruit, juice and coffee, tea or hot chocolate. If you have special dietary needs, Barb will accomodate. You won't get a breakfast like this in any hotel.
The hospitality continues through the day. Many afternoons, you can walk through the door to the best fresh baked cookies you will ever taste.
Whether your sight seeing or visiting the wineries, Bob and Tom are extremely knowledgeable about the area. For those sightseeing you must walk the Watkins Glen Falls. The views are spectacular. If you are interested in a wine tour, Barb offers great packages. She takes care of all the details with the tour company and then provides you with a care package of cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, fresh baked cookies and water for your trip. Then after a day of touring you have a gift certificate to use at one of the great restaurants in town. Jerlando's is a fantastic Italian/pizza restaurant. You won't leave hungry. If seafood or steaks are the way you want to go then try the Seneca Harbor Station. For those into the bar scene or enjoy microbrews, you must try the Roosterfish.
Oh, I can't forget to mention Rita, Teddy and Smokey, the two resident cats and dog. For those of us who are animal lovers, they are there to greet you and be petted. If you have allergies, then Barb and Tom keep them out of the guest area.
