Our schedules have been hectic and chaotic from working, attending kids' activities, taking care of aging parents, keeping church committments, etc. We needed to get away from it all! Mission Oak Inn was just what we needed. We stayed at Mission Oak Inn when the temperatures were hovering around 0 degrees F, but we stayed warm. Our room had its own fireplace and 2 person hot tub. We pre-ordered dinner, so a hot, sumptuous meal was right there for us--no driving around in the freezing cold looking for a place to eat. It was delightful to be waited on and have no responsibilities. Denny and Jan were warm and welcoming and a pleasure to visit with. The food was delicious; Denny is an outstanding chef. It was healing for our marriage and lives to slow everything way down and relax. We look forward to returning when the weather is warmer and enjoying the out-of-doors. If we had to suggest anything that could improve our experience, the viewing angle of the TV could be better. And in this day and age of larger screen TVs, a larger screen would be nice. Also, for rural Illinois, $165 a night might be a little high; it is for our budget, anyway. But those issues pale in comparison to our overall experience. Mission Oak Inn is outstanding and we highly recommend it! View Reviewer Info

When we arrived, we were greeted at the door by the owners who took us on a tour of the property. After showing us to our georgous room, we were told that we could go down to the dining room to enjoy home made desserts, or take them back to our room. I had the cranberry eggnog cheese cake, my husband had a double chocolate turtle cheesecake, they were excellent! Our room was peaceful with a romantic ambiance. We had a private entry to the room off of a first floor private balcony. Our room included a private bathroom, double sided fireplace that divided a jacuzzi from the rest of the bedroom, mini-fridge, microwave, satalite t.v., c.d. player/ stereo, and reclining loveseat situated in front of the fireplace. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious gourmet breakfast in the dining room with a beautiful view of the lake. We stayed in January, so the lake was frozen, but in the summer they include fishing, boating, and a great view of wildlife. They have also included horse drawn carriage rides. It was the perfect place to stay for a romantic weekend getaway! View Reviewer Info

I had the pleasure of staying at the Mission Oak in in Henry Illinois recently. To say my stay was a pleasure is such an understatement!
The inn itself was absolutely gorgeous, with a lot of handcrafted work very evident throughout the building. The grounds were immaculent and beautifully landscaped. The location was a delight as well, quiet with only the sounds of the birds and cicadas to break the silence. I liked that a lot.
Denny and Jan were wonderful hosts, giving us the right amount of attention, without being "underfoot." The breakfast Denny prepared was something I would expect from a professional chef, with the food as attractive as it was tasty.
As I am also "into" the outdoors, I liked the seven acre fishing pond. My cameraman and my guest on the trip enjoyed catching largemouth bass from shore, catching some quality fish. If you stay there, ask Denny or Jan to feed the catfish, you'll be amazed at what happens!
If you're going to be anywhere near Henry Illinois, you really should treat yourself to a stay at Mission Oak Inn, you'll be glad you did.
