We had one weekend in February where daytime temperatures were around 20 degrees. It was difficult to heat 'this old house', it is true, but...
Every room is individually heated with baseboard heat, in addition to lovely 100% goosedown comforters. Each room also has a wool or cotton blanket. At checkin, on rare cold days such as this guest may have experienced, we try to emphasize the availability of extra space heaters for supplemental heat, if anyone wishes. And of course, if a guest does not let us know they are uncomfortable, we can not offer another room, or to provide more heat...which we gladly would have done! Our inn is antique - and has it's quirks, but all rooms can be maintained at 80 degrees if a guest so wishes. Common areas are kept at 65 degrees in Winter and 72 degrees in Summer.
Most of all, we want our guests to be comfortable - please let us know of ANYTHING you need during your stay!
Sincerely,
Cynthia & Nancy Bruce

Drive only 2 hours from the Washington area and you will find yourself lost in a beautiful home away from home. This was our first experience at a B&B, I later told the boyfriend that he got himself into trouble because I never want to go into another hotel after staying here. We stayed for 3 nights in the Robin's Nest room. The bed was fantastic, there's a fire place (which was wonderful!), a stand up shower and each room has it's own thermostat so you are always comfortable. Breakfast is offered from 6-10 giving couples a nice window to eat in the morning depending on your person schedule and the food was absoultely wonderful; they even cater to food allergies! You also have the option of eating at the Inn, our dinner was filet, veggies, and potatoes, again, all fantastic. A mother and a daughter run the Inn together and they do a fantastic job; you truly feel like there is nothing in the world that matters expect for relaxing. It was also nice that there were dinner brochures of what was in town and the Inn set up a vineyard tour for us as well; also a great time! The house is warm and inviting, though the couches in the main room are nice to the eyes, they are not as comfortable to sit on. We personally spent more time in the back sunroom. The weekend was nothing short of perfect, I can't wait to go back again!! View Reviewer Info

We were looking for a special place for an anniversary get away and we found it! High Meadows Vineyard Inn is not too far from our home, on the edge of Scottsville, a town so full of history that it almost seems in another world. The Inn is an old home with a wonderful history, beautifully situated, delightfully restored, relaxing, comfortable, well appointed, spotless. We walked in and Nancy immediately made us feel at home. So relaxing. Then the breakfast, wow. It was so good, I do not know how it could have been better. I have been in the lodging business for 30 years and Nancy has got to be the best innkeeper I have ever met. View Reviewer Info

My husband and I just returned from a 2-day weekend stay....we just wanted to get away from DC for the weekend, without any big plans. This place was perfect! Just a little south of Charlottesville, about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us. The Inn was interesting, as others have said, the history of the Inn made the stay feel special, but the updates and amenities appealed to the side of me that needed to feel pampered. Each room is unique; the bathrooms are small, as you can imagine in retrofitting a 100+ year old building. Actually, we were a little hesitant as the Inn was full for the weekend, so we took a room with a tub (no shower, although there was a handheld shower)...I thought this would be awkward, since the clawfoot tub is in the room, but in fact, a long soaking bath was one of my favorite parts of the weekend. Although the weather was hot, the room was cool and quite (central air in the main house). The Innkeepers had lots of info on what to do in the area (Wine tours, tubing on the river, Monticello), but mostly we just enjoyed the Inn. Breakfast was great! Daffodil Room recommended! Can't wait for another weekend escape! View Reviewer Info

My wife and I just returned from a 1 night getaway to the High Meadows Vineyard Inn. This was our 2nd visit, the 1st being 6 years ago when the Inn was owned and operated by different innkeepers. Wow, the new owners have done a wonderful job turning the Inn into an eclectic mix of of contemporary colors, antique furnishings, and interesting personal collections. Nancy was a delight and a gracious hostess. She personally gave us a tour of the entire Inn, showing us each room and pointing out the interesting pieces or collections in each that make the Inn both fun and comfortable. We also appreciate the Inn's efforts at being "green" and enjoyed seeing the small flocks of ducks and chickens roaming about the grounds (which are beautiful!). The Inn manages to be both elegant in appearance and furnishings while being informally comfortable at the same time -- there is no air of pretense here. We stayed in the "Robin's Nest" room, which in our opinion, was the prettiest and best decorated of them all. We'd highly recommend it for a romantic weekend away..
Also, a note regarding dining in Scottsville, which is limited. If you are looking for a good place to eat (not fine dining by any means), check out 330 Valley Street (the name of the restaurant and it's address) located just downtown across the street from the Citgo. View Reviewer Info
