My wife and I had a great time at Heron's View Bed and Breakfast. We enjoyed relaxing and enjoying the great views. Pat made our stay amazing by making us great breakfast and also by treating us like family and we felt that way by the time we left. Their two dogs were very friendly and I am sure they enjoyed our company as much as my wife and I enjoyed theirs. I was able to have a good time going fishing and taking the canoe out into the intracoastal. I would highly recommend Heron's View.

We stayed at the Heron's View and were extremely happy with the service, food cleanliness and hospitality of the innkeepers Pat and Mike. The rooms have exquisite views, the common room is on the 2nd floor for privacy, and the amenities are A++. Internet access and HD TV, as well as snacks, refrigerator, etc. It will be my new home away from home. Great for travelers with kids, lots of privacy. Literally the top floor of their house.

My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our year anniversery here and couldn't have been more pleased. Pat and Mike made you feel like you were taking a trip to grandma's house, the property was gorgeous, and Pat's blueberry pancakes were unbelievable. Thank you both for a perfect anniversery.

The heron's view is more roomy (yet still cozy), more unique, and even better situated than what can be seen in the photos. The hosts are warm and welcoming without being intrusive. We missed out on good weather, but still took a kayak out briefly, having been loaned some rain gear. I heartily recommend a stay with Mike and Pat. Very reasonable rates, too.

I had a wonderful stay, Pat was so helpful with everything. The location was amazing right on the water, and not far from Jacksonville (where I was visiting a friend). The snacks and drinks were a nice treat, along with the delicious breakfasts! Would recommend to anyone who would be traveling through or staying in that area. Wilmington is not far off the beaten path from this location and a nice place to visit. I hope to visit again.

Our visit with Pat Nystrom at Heron's View ranks as our best stay to date at a B&B. Pat's friendliness and hospitality from the opening of the front door until the OK'd late departure made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The rooms were well furnished, clean, spacious and provided great views of the ICW. The breakfasts were made to order, delicious and generous plus Pat shared some great insight and information during our relaxed converstions while eating and just visiting. Heron's View provided us a private, relaxed weekend to visit the beach on Topsail Island and Wilmington which are both just a short drive away. Our stay was a great value, a really great time and we will definitely be back. Also, this is an excellent spot for kayaking.

As this was our first stay at a B & B, we had no idea what to expect. Upon our arrival at Heron's View Mike warmly greeted us and made us feel at home right away. He showed us around the house and I can tell you the pics are not near as wonderful as the actual views. We loved it and our 6 year old daughter, Zoe, described everything as "magical." Both Pat and Mike made us feel like family. The accomodations were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were DELICIOUS!!! The jacuzzi tub was an added bonus. Their home is nicely decorated and very well kept. My wife and Pat chatted quite a bit and the kids latched onto her like a Grandmother. We will be back for another stay SOON!! Thank you Pat and Mike!!!

My daughter and I just spent the weekend with pat, mike, brownie, and rowdy. We were in town for my daughters’ boyfriends’ graduation from extended training for the marines. There were 6 of us that stayed and pat and mike were our extended family for the weekend. They opened their home to us to come and go as we pleased and made us feel like we had known each other for years. I highly recommend herons view b&b to anyone traveling to that area. I want to personally thank pat and mike (not to mention my 4 legged buddy's) for their hospitality and comfortable stay. From your friends in Hamilton Ohio........

We were needing to "get away" for a weekend and were traveling with our young daughter and dog. We were having trouble finding anything in Wilmington and found Heron's View on Bed and Breakfast.com. Pat was very welcoming over the telephone and they were able to accomodate us on short notice. We were so happy because the place sits on the Intercoastal Waterway and is in a beautiful setting. The accomodations were very nice and were a great value for the money. It was like staying in a large suite with a sitting room, huge bathroom, and a bedroom with a separate reading area. Our dog even enjoyed Rowdy and Browny's (Pat and Mike's dogs) company. We woke up each morning to a delicious breakfast while looking out large windows with a great view of the water. It might look like it is "out of the way", but actually it was situated in a good spot. We were 10 minutes from Surf City and 30 minutes from Historic Downtown Wilmington. We had never been to Surf City, but absolutely loved their beach. We definately enjoyed our time at Heron's View and look forward to staying there again.

We just spent a lovely 3 night weekend at the Heron's View. Innkeepers Pat and Mike (and 4-legged canine hosts Brownie and Rowdy) were inviting and welcoming. The inn has a "homey" and relaxed feeling that left us feeling very at ease. We were given a wide range of breakfast options, and all were delicious! The bed was very comfortable, and the views were spectacular. We're looking forward to our next outing, and to trying out our kayaks on the soon-to-be-finished new boat ramp!

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights (Labor Day Weekend )and didnt want to leave! The innkeepers were wonderful. We were more than well taken care of and felt at home. The location is perfect, right on the Intercoastal Waterway and 10 minutes away from Topsail Island and Surf City. We enjoyed sitting on the backporch watching the boats pass by, listening to the waves crash in, shopping at wonderful boutiques, and enjoying dinners at quaint restaurants just minutes from the B&B. Conveniences such as a plasma tv, DVD player, 24 hour internet service, and two wonderful puppies to play with made this stay an unforgettable one. I cannot wait to go back!

I stayed at Heron's View for several weeks while my family and I moved to the area. You could not ask for nicer people and a more spectacular experience. The house was warm, welcoming and the views were out of this world. My time away from my family was much less stressful due to Pat and Mike's warmth and caring nature. I would highly recommend Heron's View to anyone seeking a time to relax. My room was the room on the left... WHAT A WAY TO START YOU MORNING. Please feel free to send me an email if you are considering staying at Heron's View. I just can't praise them enough. Thank you Pat and Mike for opening your bed and breakfast.

This bedrooom, decorated with a Dutch theme, has a large closet and its own TV/VCR and video collection. The balcony overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and is perfect for birdwatching, stargazing, and intimate chats. Smokers like this room because they can go outside on the balcony to smoke. The sitting room between the bedrooms has television with HDTV, VCR and DVD players. The dry bar has a microwave, a variety of snacks, a refrigerator with beverages, and a guest library. The alcove reflected in the mirror in this picture has a computer with internet access, as well as a printer, copier, and fax machine. A wireless router allows laptop use all over the property.
The balconies in each bedroom offer more than a view - they offer grandstand seating to life on the waterway. The channel providing access to the Intracoastal Waterway sometimes is an arena for the morning antics of river otters, and the waterway itself offers many surprises. Playful dolphin families go by, as do recreational watercraft of all kinds, and barges with sometimes amazing cargo (like whole houses or pipes big enough to hide tractor trailors.) There are tugboats that glide quietly by at night, looking like giant Christmas trees. And when nothing is moving on the waterway, there are always birds to watch. The buoy off the end of the jetty attracts nesting birds like the great horned owl that just left her buoy nest with three owlets. In this picture, you are looking through the doorway at a dormer reading "room." Between the bedroom and the dormer is a very large closet. Couples with babies have found this closet a good spot for the Pack N'Play (crib) because it is quiet and can be kept dark. Extra linens and pillows can be found in the linen cabinet in the closet.
This cozy corner in the south bedroom serves as sofa or single bed. Children love sleeping in this space. (Extra bedding and pillows can be found in the large closet that goes with this room.)The bath has a jacuzzi tub just right for one person to stretch out and rest weary bones - or for two people to discuss the meaning of life over a glass of wine.
A separate walk-in shower faces the Jacuzzi.
This photo was taken in the spring before the garden was in full bloom but it will help you recognize the house. You will know you are in the right place when you see the three red rocking chairs on the porch.
The fruit trees on either side of the steps are Asian pears - guests who arrive during "pear season" are in for a special treat. Landscaping at Heron's View was designed to provide blooms throughout the year. This old Chestnut rose (Rosa Roxburghii) was rescued from a used car lot in Wilmington.
The upstairs sitting room is a cozy place to read or watch TV. Whether you rent one bedroom or two, you have the whole upstairs of the house to yourself.
