The property was definitely tucked away and with some of the friendliest people running it makes this one of our favorites! We will always stay here a night or two when visiting the bay area! Bravo!

We stayed in one of the cottages. It was very relaxing and the inn keepers were wonderful. Every morning we were served a delicious, hearty breakfast. This will be the only place we will sty in when we return to San Francisco.

You don't have to do anything other then relax and enjoy yourself with this package! The room is very luxurious and the food was great. Me and My boyfriend Larry wanted to get away for the night. A night away from phones, texts, emails, tv and kids!! A little romance time. I searched for days on the internet for a B&B that "tickled" my fancy, and the one that kept catching my eye was Deer Crossing Inn, however I was a little unsure as it said Castro Valley.I went on the web and reserved the mystery key!! That intriqued me as well. After looking at about 50 B&B's online Deer Crossing Inn just seemed to have all that I was looking for. I also liked that even if we got the "lessor" of rooms, they all looked really nice. The drive there was a little rocky as it was raining pretty hard.. and we passed it because I did not get the directions before we left. Great Directions Cindy w/out them we would never have made it there!! Once we pulled up we were not disappointed. The surroundings are beautiful and very inviting. When we walked through the doors we were greated by Cindy and Rick. They made us feel as if we had come home. They were so sweet offering cheese, crackers and fruit with some wine to start the night. This beautiful home has a game room with some great antiques tand a gorgeous kitchen ;views. Well I could go on and on.. but this is getting to long. Put it this way we stayed one night and wish we could have stayed a week. My man was so impressed, somewhat like a kid in a candy store, that I had a hard time getting him out of bed that morning to leave. And if you get a chance to eat Cindy's cooking it is the best!! I can see why Rick loves her.. wink wink ;Cindy you are awesome. And before I say good bye, if you go to the Deer Crossing Inn, ask Cindy or Rick to tell you about their love story.,it is inspiring. Best B&B experience we have ever had! (we stay at B&B's 6 (or more) times a year! Fantastic rooms, food, hosts and estate. Lots of private places to be together! Clean! Great service. Easy to get to downtown SanFrancisco. Many wineries nearby. You can't miss this one!

This was our first time at a B&B and we will definitely go back! We visited for our 13th wedding anniversary. We had the Hitching Post room and it was great to have breakfast delivered to our room (this is the only room that offers that) and the breakfast was HUGE and wonderful! The afternoon cheese and wine was great. The brownies were the best I have ever had. Cindi and Rick were more than accommodating. The main house is beautiful and the room was gorgeous, too. The in-room spa tub was generous in size, and even though the room is small, I thought it was the perfect size for feeling cozy and romantic. The bed is really luxurious and comfortable, it even has an electric blanket. The only small things that weren't completely perfect were the TV reception (bring your own videos if you want to watch something, they have videos but they are all on the romantic side, and my husband wouldn't ever agree watch a movie like that). Cindi said the cable company had been out to try to fix the signal, but I am sure it is hard to get a good signal being where they are, there are a lot of trees. The water pressure for such a fancy shower left a bit to be desired. We ended up only using the hand held shower head. And the last thing that wasn't 100% was the room was a bit dusty, but otherwise was clean. There are a TON of mirrors in this room, I can't imagine having to keep them all clean, but they were. Oh, and the Pyzano's pizza was SO yummy, the best we have had since living in California. Thanks for a great, and definitely not long enough, time!

If you have a man who you don't think will like a typical Victorian B&B then this is the place to come. Cindi and Rick have managed to create the perfect balance between what women and men would both appreciate in a getaway. We were warmly greeted by Cindi by name the moment we drove up which made us immediately feel welcome. We stayed in the Hitching Post Room which was romantic, secluded and perfect - the pictures don't do it justice. This was a last minute trip ss we were not able to stay long, but we both agreed that Deer Crossing is now "our place" and we plan to visit again and again.

Yes, it is at the Deer Crossing Inn. We just finished our 4th visit, and it just keeps getting better. In addition to succulent meals, the uniquely charming, informal western flavor, and the fantastic friendliness and hospitality of Cindi and Rick, they have now added an absolutely gorgeous swimming pool. Whether it's sitting on the deck with a fabulous woodsy view sipping a complimentary chardonnay, splashing around enjoying the music in their top of the line hot tub, feasting on stuffed pecan French toast, or just enjoying the wonderful comfort of the many marvelous rooms, it just doesn't get any better than this. We were amazed when we first saw Deer Crossing. The pictures did not do it justice. Beautiful rooms and scenery. So many little touches that made the whole place special. The hosts are very nice, the dog is fun, and the breakfasts were delicious. A wonderful experience. Hope to return soon!!

We were looking for a nice place to stay somewhere in the San Francisco area for our 25th wedding anniversary. After finding the Deer Crossing Inn on the Internet, seeing the pictures, and reading the reviews. We decided to try there instead of the inner city hotels we usually stay at. WOW!! Were we surprised. We're not even sure where to begin. Cindi and Rick exceeded all of our expectations. They have every detail covered to make your stay very enjoyable.The Hitching Post room made us feel like newlyweds again. It's separate from the rest of the house and made us feel like we had the hills to ourselves. The breakfast's were the best we've had anywhere. And it was even delivered to our room. The landscaping was amazing. Lots of trails and beautiful views from every corner of the property. The evening fire pit with a bottle of wine, some munchies, and making friends with other guests was a perfect way to end the evening after spending the days a short distance away in S.F. and other tourist attractions. The deers and other wild life came right up to our room door in the mornings. A baby deer was even born there during our stay. Needles to say, we can't wait to come back again.

We are a well traveled couple, who wanted to the sights of San Fran. This place is truely a little peice of paradise. Tucked away in a quiet canyon, 35 min by Bart Train to San Fran. 5 star service on all levels. Cindy and Rick do an outstanding job of making you feel welcome and at home in their beautifully landscaped acreage. Very large gourmet breakfasts and lovingly furnished rooms in all parts of thier large home. If you are considering seeing San Fran, this is the best place to stay for value and a quite relaxing holiday.

This is a wonderful and romantic getaway, so close to home. We live across the Bay, and came to the Inn to celebrate our Birthdays. What a delightful surprise. Our suite upon arrival had romantic music playing and the lights dimmed.We enjoyed the delicious extras such as the cheese and crackers, cookies, hot beverages, and the bottle of wine. Rooms- The most decorated and impressive room I have seen before! The spa and shower were most impressive.And of course, the pillow top water bed was most comfortable, as we did a lot of sleeping in! My point off is mainly because the room seemed a little cramped when getting around, but it wasn't that big a deal. Service- The average score is due to a few of the technological difficulties (not due to the innkeepers, they were great!).The landline (there's no cell phone signal) had a loose line making it difficult to reach the Hinds.In addition, the phone's battery was low.Walking over to the main house wasn't much of an inconvenience, but climbing the hike to get there was.One other thing to note is the television may prove to be "more high-tech" than others are willing to face.Also, the shower malfunctioned a bit, but then again the shower did have 3 different features. The service category actually met my expectations from Cindi and Rick's marvelous hospitality, especially when we asked for anything, and more importantly, the breakfast delivered right to us.They are the best innkeepers we have ever had, and will consider coming back simply because of their service. Value- look around, you won't find a better deal! I actually use the last minute special and rented the room at 35% off, so this resulted in having the most romantic suite around for a great price.WOW!!! Cleanliness- The suite was spotless upon arrival! Talk about a great cleaning job.The sheets and towels were very fresh along with the supplies included in the room.I took a point off because of the water, which had a greenish tint and was a little off (had a small odor). Dining- Whatever was in those scrambled eggs, I want the recipe :-) Must I also mention the delicious extras again?

We stayed here for only one night for the proximity to Oakland Airport...next time we will know better and we will make THIS our destination!! I cannot say enough about Cindi and Rick's wonderful hospitality. They have thought of everything!! We were put in the Mayor's Suite..much to our delighted surprise :-) We enjoyed a roaring fire, a bottle of wine, and food delivered to our room from the local pizza spot. (Pyzano's...delicious). The spacious room was amazing...fireplace, patio, satellite radio, jacuzzi bathtub, and oh so comfy bed. When I say they have thought of everything I mean it...the bath towels are decadent, the bed linens smell so good...have I mentioned the fireplace??? Breakfast was gourmet...apple crepes, pineapple sausage, scrambled eggs...and fresh baked sweet breads. I was well fed for my cross-country flight. The property is lovely and so nicely landscaped. On our next visit we hope to enjoy the hot tub under the stars! Kudos to you Cindi and Rick! You are such a nice couple with such a wonderful home! Keep up the good work! My husband took me here for my birthday. It was an absolutely wonderful surprise. Who knew something so surreal was tucked away in Castro Valley. Cindi greeted us at the door and gave us a tour of the Inn. First stop...fresh baked cookies.....to die for!! The rooms are spacious,beautifully decorated and very clean. Note: I am a germ-a-phoebe, so when I say clean, it's clean. The grounds are well maintained. We enjoyed the ponds and had a glass of wine by the campfire. Relaxing and beautiful. Our stay really felt like spending the weekend with friends.....friends who cater to your every need. Only kind of friends to have.....right? Cindi and Rick are such delightful people. I would agree with one of the other reviews, Cindi's background in hospitality is very prevalent in the decorating and lay out of the Inn. But the warmth and friendliness shown by Cindi and Rick is not something you learn on the job. You either have it or you don't. Mr & Mrs Hinds have definitely got IT!! :-)

My husband and I have never stayed at a B&B before and weren't quite sure what to expect, but after staying at Cindi and Rick's gorgeous home, we will have a hard time staying in a hotel ever again. The service was supurb from the time we walked in the door til the second we drove down the driveway to go home. The food was amazing (so good that even my kids had seconds!) The rooms were decorated so beautifully (3 of our friends took over the other rooms that same night, so we got to peek at all four of the rooms). The grounds are stunning and the hot tub was so relaxing! It truely was a vacation even though we were 5 minutes from home. Can't wait to return!

We can't say enough about the generosity and hospitality of Cindi and Rick, the owners of the Deer Crossing Inn. Cindi's background in luxury hotel management clearly comes through in the sumptuous and tasteful decoration of the rooms (e.g. a waterbed, a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub in the Mayor's Suite) and the gourmet breakfasts she served each morning. The grounds are gorgeous and there are so many luxury amenities for an incredible price that we could not believe it. Cindi provided us with delicious home-baked goods throughout the day while we enjoyed the amazing private views off the large deck, the luxuries in our suite, and the movie viewing room. Although I tend to avoid hyperbole, I really cannot say enough about our experience at the Deer Crossing Inn - this was a GREAT find and, although the Inn opened just two weeks before our stay, it will not be a secret for long!

We stayed in the Big Oak Flat room. It was so comfortable from the bed to the chairs. We stayed for 2 nights and really took advantage of the peaceful evenings at the firepit and hot tub! We can't say enough about the Innkeepers, Rick and Cindi. Incredibly hospitable people and you can tell they are very happy you're there. Like staying with friends!! Great breakfast on the deck. We loved having 2 public rooms so that people could spread out. What a wonderful stay! Would highly recommend!

This incredible home is just minutes from several charming cities in the San Francisco East Bay Area. Cindi, the delightful owner/manager of the Inn, personally greeted my wife and I when we checked in. We arrived in time for wine, cheese, and nibblies on the deck with some other guests. The deck looks out on the beautiful rolling hills of Eden Canyon. The Inn has been furnished and decorated superbly. "Country elegance" would be my description. Our bed and private bath looked out on a hill where a young deer greeted us in the morning. The room was just what we needed including an excellent wireless connection to the Internet (just needed to do a few emails). Breakfast the next morning was served when we wanted it (I had an early appointment) and we had Cindi's special Eggs Benedict with some leftover bread pudding that we had heard about the night before (yum for both!). All in all a wonderful experience - Cindi's a warm hostess who made us feel as though her home was ours. We had a perfectly relaxing evening in a lovely bed and breakfast and we plan to visit again and again!

The innkeepers Cindi and Rick are friendly, welcoming and generous. The beds have an old-fashion comfort from the mattresses to the covers. You snuggle down into the cushioning and stress melts away. The outside areas are relaxing and invite you to stay awhile and rest. You will be missing out if you do not visit this serene location.

The Deer crossing is the quintessential bed and breakfast inn. From the moment we arrived we felt as relaxed as if it were our own home. The inn is tucked away in a beautiful country setting “Quiet and secluded” if you weren’t looking for it you would never know it was even there. We found all the amenities to be impeccable.
