We stayed two nights and this was also the site of our sons' wedding. We had an intimate, stress free weekend. With the cooperation of the weather the venue was changed from the inside to the outside. Tessa and Bernard orchestrated , what seemed like effortlessly, all the outdoor preparations making the scene picture perfect! We felt treated like family and royalty at the same time. Tessa and Bernard opened their home to us and made us feel like we were home. They also pampered us with great food and attention to every detail. Waking up in the morning and raising the blinds and viewing the mountains was picturesque and relaxing. Then the aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast cooking lulled us into a peacfulness we haven't experienced in a long time. Well worth every penny.. Life is too short not to experience the hospitality and true warmth of this couple and their Inn!!

Don't believe all the hype about the Taylor House Inn. We have stayed there twice in the past year and both times we were not impressed and when we left we wished we would have stayed elsewhere. For starters the Inn keepers are not the most hospitable and sincere in the world. The leave you with the impression they are in it for the money more than the love of being an inn keeper. A bit arrogant they are. Secondly, don't bring your appetite, the portions are small and no second servings. On some days, there were no cookies at all the entire day in the foyer, and all the other days it was the same thing; toll house recipe chocolate chip cookies. The rooms are uncomfortable in the late spring, summer and early fall due to no air conditioning, old windows that are very hard to open, and cheap ceiling rans that are noisy. The rooms we stayed in both had big stains on the carpet and apointed with just enough cheap furnishings/fixtures to leave you unimpressed. The draining on the grounds is bad and was always mushy and damp with plenty of misquitos. The house is right on a main road, so choose your room carefully if you are a light sleeper. Overall the house is still in need of a lot of work to demand the price that they ask, throw in small portions of food and the stricktly business type attitude of the inn keepers and you have yourself a highly over rated B&B.

Our daughter chose the Taylor House Inn for the location of her outdoor wedding. Tessa and Bernard's flower gardens and beautiful home provided a colorful backdrop for the wedding ceremony and the photos. On the day of the wedding I was impressed and pleased to see windows being shined, the porch being swept, and carpets being vacuumed. This attention to detail showed me to what lengths Tessa and Bernard were willing to go to make it a perfect occasion. The first floor suite with parlor provided more than ample space for the bride, her attendants, and all of the wedding accouterments. The B&B is so beautiful, immaculate and clean. The rooms were large and comfortable. We had a delightful and sound sleep. When we left home it was 90 degrees, and by the time we reached this beautiful mountain escape, we were thrilled it was 20 degrees cooler. We slept with the windows open, the window sheers billowing in the breeze. I have never had a more rejuvenating sleep, hearing the relaxing babbling of the nearby brook in the background. We went out to explore the local area and it is gorgeous. Green, plush, quiet...we felt truly one with nature. There were so many great hiking trails, creeks and waterfalls right there in Valle Crucis. It was unbelievably relaxing and beautiful. I had never seen such beautiful scenery in person. And we loved visting Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock close by. Tessa and Bernard were so kind and wonderful. They made our stay truly perfect. They went above and beyond all expectation to accomodate us and make us feel right at home. The gourmet breakfasts they prepared were to die for! The location, the scenery, the weather, the owners, the food...this was a slice of heaven! We will make this our yearly getaway. From one to ten, this B&B is definitely a 20+. You WILL love it!

My new husband and I just got back from our honeymoon at the Taylor House and was absolutely blown away from the GREAT service and environment that we experienced! We stayed in the honeymoon (attic) suite, it was so comfortable and great for a cozy getaway from the rest of the world! Mr. and Mrs. Russo keep such a wonderful inn that you really don’t believe it till you see it. The breakfast was ready everyone morning when we woke up, everyday was also something different and delicious. The linens and beds were definitely the softest I’ve ever used and were changed every day as well as having the room cleaned every day. Though the towns around the inn are quaint and quiet there was so many things to do within miles of the inn. When I first planned to go to this area, I was going to stay at a hotel. The cost wasn't much more than the Day's Inn, but it was so much more! Our room was small, but I loved it. The owners were fabulous! They were very helpful in suggesting things you might like to do, and were so friendly. The food was beautiful and delicious! Every room in the house was beautiful, the two smaller rooms outside the house were not as elegant or as nice as the ones inside the house, but it was perfect for us because we are on a low budget, could get a quaint little place all to ourselves and not even have to worry about staying up late past everyone else in the house, etc. Breakfast was phenomenal, the art was beautiful inside the house, and the couple was helpful in anything we needed to find while we were there! We stayed in the Taylor Suite on the first floor. It is very spacious with a living room size sitting room and working fireplace. The entire house is very European...no chintz or anitmacassars. The spaces are open and uncluttered. The large, wrap around porch offers views of the beautiful lawns and outbuildings. The food, of course, is perfect. I stayed at the Taylor House this fall for one night. The location is prime for touring Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain and driving the Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. The guest rooms are lovely, the service is superb, the cleanliness is tops, the dining is delicious, and the cost per night is a little steep compared to what you get with other B&B's. We came there for our honeymoon and stayed in the Squire Taylor suite. The grounds are beautiful, the breakfasts were outstanding. The Russo's were great hosts. The big front porch was a wonderful place to relax, and we saw a herd of deer in the pasture across the street. At night it was so peaceful. I'd highly recommend it and we'll go back again. It was very nice and had everything we needed, but nothing else to clutter the space and close you in. All of the rooms looked that way to us! The Inn has a connection with a Porsche car club and because we stayed there, we were able to rent a Porsche for the day! It was definitely worth it!! I like the use of space at The Taylor House Inn. It has several rooms in the house itself and a few in satellite sheds. We stayed in the attic, which has its own small balcony and bathroom. I visited the Taylor House while on my BMW motorcycle during a tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is my second time staying at the Taylor House. It is one of my favorites! It's easy to understand why when you experience the wonderful hospitality and great food surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes in the South East. It's location to the Parkway makes it a favorite too. The staff certainly understand the importance of make the guest feel "right at home." They attend to every detail to make certain the stay is everything you would expect from a beautiful Inn. The sounds the creek rolling over the rocks can be enjoyed from the front porch. The rolling pastures across the fence are a sight to behold. Tesse and Bernard. I want to thank you for making our "Nascar" weekend experience, the best! Staying at your Inn was the perfect solution. What a delight you are as hosts. Every detail of our stay was focused on our needs and comforts. Our rooms were warmly decorated. Our beds, dressed with cozy down and quilts that just hugged us when we walked into our rooms. I must tell you we slept like babies and removing ourselves from the bed in the morning was tough. However, your "full breakfast" (and I mean full), made the morning something to remember! Wow, what a delight to have someone care so much to prepare dishes that are so lovingly and beautifully prepared. We had a very busy day ahead of us and your "full breakfast" gave us the start we needed. We were not hungry until mid afternoon! Again I can't thank you enough for all the efforts you made in making sure our stay was pleasant. We look forward to coming back to see you again. Staying at the Taylor House is a retreat and an awakening to what is important in life.

I spent two nights in January with my son, and we skied at nearby Appalachian Mountain. We made our reservations at the last minute and this was the only room we could find. What a treasure. Tessa and Bernard have a gem of a property. Tessa prepares a 3 course gourmet breakfast that is one the best I have had anywhere. It is served in a beautiful dinning room on on china. The breakfast alone is worth the trip. The room we stayed in overlooked the front of the property and was very spacious, comfortable, and clean. Bernard waited up for us we arrived very late. He was very gracious and welcoming. I can wait to go back with my wife. This property is perfect for a romantic weekend in the mountains, or family gatherings. Boone NC is only a few miles away so the property is very convenient to many attractions and areas of interest.

Tessa and Bernard are wonderfully gracious hosts and their B&B is amazing. We were the only guests on the property the night we stayed and they upgraded us to their largest room. I arrived at Taylor House after a long drive which was half way to my destination. I am so glad I stayed there. The room was amazing with crisp, white linens, a comfortable bed and personal touches that made me feel like a special honored guest; the food was delicious; and the time spent with Tessa and Bernard, made me feel like I was home (but with better service and better food). I have since planned to return, but have yet to make a trip back to Banner Elk. I guess it is time to schedule one.

My husband and I just arrived back home today after a wonderful weekend at the Taylor House Inn. It certainly was not our first time at an inn but we have never been as impressed. The innkeepers, Bernard and Tessa are both warm and friendly and make you feel right at home. Tessa's flair for making the breakfasts not only a work of art but wonderfully tasting. She is a gem! Our room was bright and sunny and probably the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The weather for our weekend was cold and crisp, but invorgorating, as was our stay. We look forward to our next visit and to seeing these very lovely people again.

Mr. Russo carried our bags to our room. How nice this was, considering that we usually have to carry everything ourselves. Our room was clean and neat. The bed linens were top of the line. The bathroom floor was so clean that we could actually have eaten from it. There was no TV or phone in the room, but this was not a bad thing. In fact, we were glad to get away from the obtrusiveness of always being "in touch." (I hope the Russos never put TVs or phones in the rooms...) Our breakfast the next morning was so nice, so European. The way it was presented was almost a work of art...no bacon and eggs, but link sausage, quiche, and a wonderful stuffed tomato. The coffee was the best I've had in a long time. Our stay was more pleasant than we expected, and we will definitely come back. Thank you, Tessa and Bernard...

Mike and I spent the weekend here, celebrating his birthday and learning to ski at Sugar Mountain. The Inn completely exceeded our expectations. I am a cyclist and Banner Elk is a great place to hit the road. Normally I ride with a group when in Boone and I don't know my way around as an individual rider. Bernard went out of his way to help me with directions and was very concerned about how my ride went. My significant other enjoyed the inn while I was out riding and the convenience to shopping and other activities was nice. Oh, the food was excellent. We had a great time!

Just he third time my wife and I have been away from our children. They are age 8 and 5. We were upgraded to Room #1 that that was just as pure as it could be. Their was a beautiful view and a quilt that look like our grandmother just made. It was extremely peaceful, quite and inn-keepers were pleasant to talk too. The breakfast was perfect with a great service. I am looking forward to my next stay there.

My husband and I stayed there during the weekend of the Meteor Shower in August. Bernard made us feel very much at home. So we grabbed a candle from his dresser and set up outside on the lawn with a bottle of wine to watch the "stars fall". Tessa served an excellent breakfast paying attention to all the fine trimmings. We had never before stayed at a bed and breakfast. The setting of the Inn is beautiful! We very much enjoyed the opportunity to meet the other guests and to get to know Tessa and Bernard. This is a lovely, quaint inn nestled in a mountain setting with overhanging trees. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. Fresh flowers are in every room as well as tucked into the napkin at each breakfast setting. Warm, gracious hosts respond quickly to questions and needs, seeking to accommodate. The breakfast was delicious and quickly served. The landscaping provided a fall setting with pumpkins, cornstalks, and fall potted plants to create a warm welcome from the first glance. The warmth continued inside as a selection of teas, coffee, and cookies greeted the guest. This old home has been carefully preserved and welcomes guests with the Southern open door.

Wonderful experience at The Taylor House. Bernard and Tessa are running a first rate B&B. The Food was great, rooms were clean and comfy, and the scenery was breathtaking. The room was more than comfortable, very attractive and delightfully quite - a wonderful get-away. Our hosts were gracious, helpful, and very pleasant. The cookies in the afternoon were a delicious suprize.......and the breakfast was beautiful as well as delicious.....we could have gone without lunch, but the recommendation of a unique little lunch place down the road was too good to pass up.

The Russo's are a delight and so accommodating! They arranged for a lovely dinner at a local restaurant that was just as good as they promised. The house and grounds are charming as the photos indicate. Comfy living room, refreshing porch, spacious bedroom, great bathroom. We enjoyed sound sleep and a delicious breakfast. I just had a beautiful wedding at the Taylor House!! We had around 100 guests at the ceremony and at the reception and everything went smoothly and looked beautiful. My mom and I had people telling us this was one of the nicest weddings they had ever been to. We rented the whole house for the weekend, so the wedding party was right on site. Tessa and Bernard, the innkeepers, are so kind and thoughtful and Tessa is a great cook!! If you're looking for a relaxing weekend getaway or a beauitful place to say your vows, I highly reccomend the Taylor House.
