This was our first stop on a B&B honeymoon tour of West Virginia. The Cider Mill House was the best of the tour. Very relaxing and the perfect setting for our first night. Our hosts, Kate & Ed were great! Thank you.

This has to be the best B&B out there, hands down. Ed and Kat are the warmest, most sincere, and gracious hosts we could ever hope for. The house is a beautiful 200+ year old farmhouse that exudes all the qualities of what a B&B should be. It is surrounded by several hundred pristine acres of rolling hillsides and forest. You are free to roam about as you like. You can even feed their goats (although Fritz will steal all the treats). You can hike wherever you please. We have stayed there twice now, and have every intention of returning whenever we can. There is just something very inviting about the kind demeanor of the ownwers and the warmth of the house itself. The Foxes Den is amazing, with an awesome shower, and a great view of the farm. They have a pool and a place for a campfire (which was nice, as it was chilly that night). The food is by far the best breakfast I have ever had. I was still stuffed at dinner! -can't wait to go back, Matt & Laura

You don't realize how the sights and sounds of the city have overwhelmed you until you get the sights and sounds of an old time farm. You feel like you are going back to Colonial times when you get to Kat and Ed’s Cider Mill House farm. The background noise of city vehicles is replaced with indescribable sound of guinea hens, chickens and a flowing stream. You know you have arrived when you hear a rooster crowing in the afternoon. The wood screen door to the 150-year old Cider Mill house slams with an echo of Great Grand Ma's farm. The rolling grass fields out back are framed by a rising bank of forest; inviting a nice walk. A herd of goats being led down a path by a biblical looking Kat holding her tall, hooked staff. Kat has names for her goats and describes their different personalities. It seems that each critter on the farm is allowed to be itself, unharvested; left to achieve a millionaire’s old age passing. We slept well that night and awoke to a superb breakfast. Jack-of-all-trades Ed is also a fine Chef. He and Kat looked of Colonial times as they served up breakfast. Kat visited with us on the porch with tales of local history and lore. She grew up on the farm. While we ate the gourmet breakfast, the farm critters were mulling about before us, capturing our attention with the sights and sounds of their daily routine. Besides being a formidable farmer and innkeeper, Kat is a very fine artist with many of her works displayed about. We bought a painting of Bessie the goat and it looks great on the wall at home. We also got to meet Bessie in person. If you are interested in preservation of historical structures and farmland, staying at Kat and Ed’s farm helps preserve the very beautiful historical home and farm you get to experience. The home’s historical aesthetic is very well preserved while all creature comforts are up to date.

This is honestly the gold standard of B&Bs. All others should be try to be EXACTLY like Cider Mill House. My girlfriend and I stayed there for our anniversary back in January. Ed and Kat will make you feel welcome immediately. They are both so warm hearted and friendly that you will feel like you are automatically best friends (I am not just saying this). He called my girlfriend "the pretty one" which we both got a kick out of. We showed up pretty late on a Friday, 10PM after work and they both came down to unlock the house and show us around. The house is big, beautiful and very well decorated. There are always Kat's cookies to be had which are fantastic. Those double chocolate chip cookies I still crave to this day. They also have drinks and snacks available 24/7 if you are hungry. We stayed in the Foxes Den which was very nice. The bathroom was huge and the shower was big enough to have a party in! The king size bed was incredible, and must have been a multi-million dollar mattress it was so comfortable. The grounds are beautiful as well. It is a working farm with all sorts of animals running around (fenced in, of course). There are multiple hiking trails to explore, as well as a camp ground on the large piece of land that they own. If you are a photographer there are a lot of opportunities for some great shots. Ed and Kat's breakfast is the best you will ever have, hands down. My lord, everything that came out of their kitchen was fantastic. The fresh sausage sauteed in apple butter and the orange french toast and then the next day the omelettes with garden fresh vegetables. It can't be beat. So to summarize, the bed was awesome and I had by far the best breakfast I have ever had in my life. Kat and Ed are fantastic people and the establishment they run couldn't be any better!

We stay at B & B's frequently and found this to be an exceptional place. The atmosphere and ammenities were great. The breakfasts held us until dinner! And the "ugly" cookies were delicious. We only regret that, due to weather, we couldn't take advantage of the hiking trails - next time! The owners made our stay enjoyable - they truly enjoy what they do and it shows in their hospitality.

My husband, friends and I have fallen in love with the Cider Mill House and it's innkeepers. The location is waaay off the beaten track and somewhat difficult to locate (especially in the dark) but it's well worth the effort to have a beautiful room and bath, a breakfast beyond expectations and innkeepers with intelligence and a wonderful sense of humor. Even with other guests on site, we were made to feel special. Altho' our first, it won't be our last B&B visit - but we all agree that we've been spoiled! Highly recommend the Cider Mill House to any and all.

The place was immaculate, the owners were so genuine and caring; very determined to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The room was spacious, and very clean. The house was very accomodating; beverages and snacks available. There was alot to do on the property; they had a pool (very clean), trails to scout out, animals to feed (goats, chickens, cows)...and yet you would never know there were animals being kept there because it was so clean and never malodorous. We were so impressed. The breakfast was like no other; they were very good about keeping to our dietary needs and other guests needs as well. They did not rush us out and we didnt want to leave anyway! We stayed until about 3 which is way over the limit at other places we have been. Overall, we are thinking of going back just for the mere fact that we felt the place was 'a little piece of heaven'.

This was the first stay (at a bed and breakfast) for myself and my girlfriend. The stay greatly exceeded our expectations. Ed and Kat (along with their animals) gave us a warm welcome. The house and surroundings were wonderful! The bountiful breakfasts certainly did not leave you hungry. We also enjoyed the fresh baked cookies and fruits left for our enjoyment in the evenings. We enjoyed the natural surroundings and walking among the farm animals. Cider Mills House is definitely a place we will visit again. We both highly recommend this B&B to anyone! Great job Ed & Kat! We spent a very enjoyable weekend at Cider Mill House. The pictures on the web site only begin to give you an idea of what a beautiful place it is. It's very secluded and peaceful but not at all hard to get to. The rooms are very nice and Ed and Kat are wonderful hosts. Perhaps the most important thing to us... my wife needs to have a gluten-free diet and Ed went to great lengths to make sure that the meals were safe for her to eat. He even had gluten-free afternoon cookies! Cider Mill House is definitely a place that we plan on coming back to.

The rooms are very comfortable, the food good and plentiful, and the setting is very relaxing. Ed once again used me as a guinea pig to try a new recipe. Another winner. Definitely will go back. On another note: If you are interested in Real Estate, this is the place to go. Ed is also a REALTOR. He can feed you breakfast in the morning, then show you homes in the afternoon. My wife and I were looking for a quiet getaway for our anniversary. We found it. This B&B is surrounded by farmland. Wake up in the morning to the birds singing, the goats baa-ing and the cows mooing. Take a walk in the woods after Ed and Kat fill you with a large breakfast. You may see deer or wild turkeys if you're quiet. Ed used us as guinea pigs to try out a new recipe for breakfast. We both loved it. Our room was very comfortable. We had a very relaxing stay. We came upon the Cider Mill House when planning a B&B outing in October of last year. Needless to say, this little B&B is a wonderful escape and provides a unique experience to inn seekers. The residence is nestled on a wide swath of wooded and farming land which, unlike many B&B's, avails the traveler to large open spaces. The house itself is well maintained, clean and private and it is common to see deer trek through the rolling green plains. It is the perfect respite at the beginning or end of a trip and Ed and Kat were wonderful hosts.
