My wife and I spent a weekend in the Zermatt log cabin. The cabin was rustic, but very comfortable, with central heating and AC, a large fireplace, a corner jacuzzi tub & shower, and a small kitchen. Barons doesn't provide breakfast, but there was orange juice, coffee, and tea in the cabin. There is plenty of good dining in Fredericksburg. The grounds were beautifully maintained. There is a small creek that runs behind the cabins through some ornamental ponds into Baron's creek. The owners are on-site eight months out of the year. Daniel greeted us when we first arrived and also as we were leaving. He is very friendly and really wants everything to be perfect for his guests. It was a perfect weekend for us, and I'm we'll be back. View Reviewer Info

My wife and I stayed in the Geneva Cabin to celebrate her 40th birthday. We travel frequently and sometimes get tired of hotel rooms. This was a terrific experience!
Though we arrived late, our keys were waiting for us at the rental management office as promised. Lights were on at the cabin welcoming our arrival. The first thing to strike us was the craftsmanship of the cabin. The jacuzzi tub had gorgeous stone walls and the copper sink fixtures blended style with Swiss functionality.
I think we could have spent our entire vacation sitting on the front porch of the cabin in the oversized rocking chairs. It was a blast just watching the interplay between resident ducks Punky and Valentino. Valentino is pretty protective of his girlfriend and follows her everywhere.
The grounds were overflowing with wildflowers and my wife took nearly 400 photographs. And the waterfall always provided a soothing backdrop of sound.
The owner, Daniel, stopped by to introduce himself and offer any assistance but then left us to our privacy the rest of the trip. The pride he has in his cabins and property is almost contagious. I saw him one day and told him he was working too hard. He replied, "This is not work for me. I love it!" And, I believe he truly does.
I noticed some other folks had lower ratings for the dining. Well, there is no dining at the lodge, so I can understand that. But, the dining in Fredericksburg is outstanding. We ate at 7 restaurants in town and were pleased with each one. And, they were all just a two-minute ride from the cabin.
Also, I'll add this just for convenience. There is a WalMart less than five minutes from the cabins. That came in very handy when my wife needed a few items for the trip.
We will visit these cabins again. View Reviewer Info

We stayed here with my Parents (60's) and my wife and boys (7 and 9). The first night my parents weren't in town yet, so we stayed at the Mesquite Farmhouse. I can't say enough - it was absolutely beautiful. It's 2 bedrooms, and a wonderful living space, and quietly located in the back of the property. The owner Daniel stopped by to make sure we were ok, not intrusive at all, but a great guy, and super nice!
The second through 6th night we stayed in the Lodge - and got the Master Suite also for my parents. This is a beautiful house, and I mean it! Clean, more modern, and absolutely beautiful. The boys would be in the living room watching TV in the evenings, and we would be able to catch up with my parents in one of the other rooms, and not have any issues with overflow of noise from room to room.
The boys loved to be able to check out the property also. Fishing, and checking out the fish in the stocked pond. There is plenty of yard to play in, and places to sit in the sun if you like, or get into the shade.
I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was, and how nice Daniel and his wife were. We ran into them at Hondo's also and truly enjoyed our stay, and the new friends we met. I can't give more than 5 stars, but this place was wonderful, and the owners went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed, and knew where the hotspots were to check out.
