My wife and I stayed with some of our friends at Wilde Oaks Guest Suites on Saturday February 21st. Warm, plush, and polished spaces await inside this lovingly cared-for home. Ed and Susan keep this lovely dwelling immaculately clean and truly invest in your happiness with their attentiveness. The sauna and hot tub are lovely, especially in the snowy serenity of the winter woods.
We stayed in the Balcony Suite which is more than adequate for a couple, furnished with high-pile carpet and a bed like a cloud. Since we were staying with friends, we saw all the other rooms, which are equally breathtaking. The Dragonfly Suite is a dream for those who want a truly secluded retreat; located at one end of the bottom floor it is beautifully and comfortably furnished and has a spiral stair-case accessing a comfy loft that is chock full of books (there are plenty of good books to read all throughout the house, as well as a great collection of dvds). The Shaman's Dream Suite has its own raised deck from which we watched a herd of at least 30 deer walking leisurely through the woods at dusk! It was amazing!
I could spend this entire review space just talking about breakfast! Sue cooked scrambled eggs infused with a touch of pepper and rosemary, bacon, decadent texas-sized french toast with apple cider syrup, and a parfait of sliced pears and cranberry jelly served with a russian cream sauce! DELICIOUS! My wife and I have been dreaming of that breakfast for nearly a month since and we cannot wait to go back! When enter Wilde Oaks, all your worries are checked at the door! My college roommate and I were going back to Albion College for our 25th Reunion. We found Wild Oaks Guest Suites, just a few minutes from Albion's Campus on the edge of beautiful woods for their backyard. There were even deer there, I saw later that day! There is a nice little trail in the back with a place for a fire if you'd like, complete with fixings for smores! There is a large covered jacuzzi in the back, which we did not have time to use. A lovely patio with pretty flowers and dainty patio lights. I used the infared sauna, which was new and clean, and used a guest robe located in each room. There is a large selection of DVD's and books. Each room is artistically planned and comfortable with new, colorful, crisp bedding, chairs, TV with satelite and bedroom suites. I was in the Tranquility Suite, which was had a full bedroom set in one room a twin bed/furniture in the other. We shared one bathroom. One suite had a full kitchen, walk out porch overlooking the wooded backyard, and sitting room with pullout couch. The other suite had a staircase leading to a loft sitting area. All were tastefully decorated, as was the rest of the home. The breakfasts were presented very artistically, and were fresh and healthy with garden quiche (veggies from their garden!), fruits, whole grain breads, coffees, and teas, and filtered water. Sue had made fresh carrot cake muffins one afternoon, that she also sent home with us, as a snack for the road. Sue and Ed built this home themselves, and it is a labor of love they now share genuinely with their guests. It was a delightful weekend with my roommate, the new friends who stayed at Wild Oaks that weekend, also for their reunions, and Sue and Ed. Thank you for the great memories, friendly and gracious service, warm and artistically charming home, and delicious gourmet breakfasts and snacks. I hope to go back with my husband next time! What a Gift! View Reviewer Info
