We were very pleased upon entering the room! Although everything seemed to be perfectly placed just for us, we felt very encouraged to make ourselves at home. It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed the privacy it offered. Our only encounter with others was during breakfast when the Wainwright's brought their breakfast dishes to the sink and simply said "hello". We absolutely loved the whirlpool and the DVD library! I highly recommend this to everyone, as we are planning to stay again! :)

This is a very nice B&B, very well restored. I booked the smaller room and was given a free upgrade when I arrived. It is a quiet location and about 5 minutes from the center of town.

My husband and I felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. The room was lovely and very comfortable. We loved the very large and romantic steam shower, too! Everything was great even the free popcorn, sodas while we watched DVDs from the collection in the house. The breakfast was delicious, fresh and plentiful.

We had an enjoyable stay and would recommend this to others. It was a good place to spend our 23rd anniversary, especially the jacuzzi. We were greeted by soft music and low lights, and a bottle of nice wine came with the room. We stayed both nights. Breakfast was self serve, but the prepared rolls and cakes and waffles were very good and the setting was nice. The only down side to the trip was that we did not get to meet our hosts. Also, the toilet was in a cubbyhole under the stairs and it took a bit of contortionism for a big man like me to use it. But it was still a very relaxing stay and we would do it again.

The house is lovely, and the room was perfect. Upon entering our room, we were greeted by classical music, a bottle of wine, and warm lighting. The room and adjoining bathroom are quaint in the loveliest of ways, and the jacuzzi, adorned with tea lights, was amazing.

The room is a bit on the modern side, but very nice. There was a bottle of wine in the room and candles by the whirlpool tub. The only negative I can say about the room is that the toilet is in a very small room and you have to sit a bit crooked. It is not a traditional bed and breakfast in the sense of having a formal living room, dining room, parlor - at least for guest use. Breakfast was good - do-it-yourself waffles with fresh fruit, warm muffins, OJ, etc... The innkeepers must have been very busy that weekend because we did not see them on either day, but they were reachable by phone. Overall, I would recommend staying at the Solon Langworthy House as long as someone is OK with it not being a "traditional" B&B.

I spent 2 nights in Dubuque while I was attending a conference at an expensive hotel on the river. I was really pleased to find the Longworthy House as an alternative to the mass-marketed water-park hotel. I only saw one of the owners once during my stay. If you like your privacy, this B&B is perfect for you. I snuggled in at night with a DVD movie, got up in the a.m., ate a light breakfast and was on my way to the conference. If you are looking for more interaction/conversation from your hosts, this might not be the place for you--or at least I didn't experience that. The room was very clean. There is still a bit of renovation going on at the inn, but it didn't bother me. I was surprised though that my bed was not made up during the day while I was gone. Perhaps that is just the norm with this B&B. The Langworthy House is located in a very historic district of Dubuque. I really enjoyed the area.

We stayed at the Solon Langworthy House in 9/07. Keisha and Jeremy attended to all of our questions and accommodated our late arrival that night. The b&b was still under some constrution at the time, but upon hearing what the final result was going to be, it made us want to go back just to see how it improved and changed. We had a great experience there and the Wainwrights were gracious hosts. Our only problem was finding the place in the dark and within the residential neighborhood. The picture shows the front of the house, which now is actually the back of the house, so I couldn't spot the house from the street. What an adventure that was! We really hope to return some day soon and explore Dubuque, which we didn't have the time to do when we were there last.

The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! Small touches added to the relaxation--music playing when I arrived, tea available in the kitchen, lotions, body washes, and SILENCE in the neighborhood.

Our stay at the Solon Langworthy house was excellent! The room was wonderful and artistic, the atmosphere very quiet and private. It was great entering the room to nice soothing music. We enjoyed a special night together, and woke up to a great breakfast. We highly recommend this room to all of our friends.
