We stayed five days in the quaint and cozy Rose Room. There are so many wonderful and personal touches throughout this beautiful and thoughtfully restored inn. Each of the parlors, and all of the guest rooms, are tastefully decorated with Victorian era art, furnishings and colors. Nothing about the appointments say “museum”, but rather, they were chosen and arranged to encourage you to relax in old world luxury. Each day, after the truly scrumptious 3 course breakfast, we would head out for a day of exploration and fun, then in the evening we would return to a place that felt far more like a home, then a commercial and pedestrian “hotel”. I am something of a picky eater, and they went above and beyond to accommodate my tastes and provided a yummy assortment of breakfasty goodness every day. The mango banana pancakes were just marvelous and don’t skip the dessert! Evelyn and Dennis are warm and gracious; and if you are traveling without your pets and need some 4 legged companionship, Cissy(their dog) and Gris Gris (their cat) are more than willing to oblige you with tail wagging enthusiasm and purrs of contentment. I would be very happy to visit this charming inn again!

We stayed in the Sonoma Room. The bed was a little small and squeaky, but the room was otherwise well equipped and clean. The bathroom was showing it's age a bit, but nothing more than you would expect from a place that's around 140 years old. Dennis was extremely friendly, and he prepared a truly outstanding breakfast. Getting a key from his wife wasn't so easy, and then I had trouble locating the key at the end of our stay. All in all, it was a good place that I would recommend to others. I might not stay here again only because there are so many other places to try, but the breakfast might change my mind.

Excellent does not even begin to describe our stay at Starr Mansion. Our innkeepers Denise, Evelyn and Nancy were a joy!. Breakfast was a epicurean delight! 3different courses each day cooked and served to prefection. We stayed 4 days and did not want to go home. Our room was cosy and very comfortable. We will be back! What a wonderful experience we had - we stayed here for seven days and being so far away from our native home Australia, we felt that like this was home. Dennis Evelyn and Nancy were a pure delight. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do for us, early breakfasts, organised to have my laptop collected (when it died) and fixed - highly recommend this establishment. Not to far from the ferry terminal which you can take to get to San Fransico. And Vallejo has some great eateries and great places to visit. Our stay here was truly memorable - Merril & Roy Australia

Our stay at Star Mansion was great. Upon arrival the 6 well lit palm trees were absolutely beautiful and the well manicured grounds were a sign of things to come. The inside was just as impeccably maintained. The hosts, Dennis, Evelyn and Nancy were very hospitable and their attention to detail showed throughout the newly renovated property. The breakfasts were outstanding. We highly recommend this B&B for your stay. Well located, minutes away from Napa Valley and centralized between SF and Sacramento. Thanks for the memories. This is one of those special "treasures" that we all hope to come across in our infinite search for the perfect bed and breakfast. Our stay was incredible. The room was magnificient (the bed was heavenly!) and our hosts, Evelyn and Dennis are almost too good to be true. From the beautifully antiqued decorated rooms, the most incredible home cooked breakfasts, to the wine and cheese and great conversations each afternoon, you will leave Starr Mansion knowing that you will be back! Vallejo is so very close (approximately 7 miles) from the gateway to Napa Valley for excursions into the wine country. And minutes away from the ferry to take you across to San Francisco for a days outing. For the price, you HAVE to stay here. I was pricing conventional hotels/motels for the same or more money in this area. This is definitely an incredible bargain. Here's to you, Dennis and Evelyn, for many more years of success in this beautiful bed and breakfast that you have created.

The word gracious keeps coming to mind in describing all aspects of our stay - from the warm welcome at the door upon our late arrival Monday evening, to "made to order" no-eggs breakfasts, to sharing a glass of wine with you on our last night.
