I rarely go to B&Bs, especially when I'm traveling alone, but I'm a lighthouse buff and would not pass up the chance to stay in a real keeper's house. The Lighthouse Inn at Point Cabrillo was wonderful! I had the smallest room in the house and it was still huge, with a sitting area and large windows with views of the headlands. The staff was enormously friendly and accomodating, the shower was wonderful, and the food plentiful. The best part was taking an early morning walk down to the lighthouse and along the bluffs, alone with the deer and the mist, something I could only do if staying at this Inn. Most impressive renovation of the old building; the volunteers and workers are to be commended. It's truly beautiful.

The seal lions barking, the waves crashing, the ultra quiet night, wildlife in abundance. It's all about the location of this unique, historic, charming and comfortably casual inn. Lovely staff, super clean and sweet little rooms. Easy to while away hours with a good book, sipping wine, watching the birds. Delicious early morning coffee and hearty breakfast. Just a few little extra amenities would make it truly luxurious for guests...a hair dryer in the room (no fun to have to go ask for one with a wet head) , access to an iron (we want to look nice whilst supporting local restaurants!) And, some eye-shades...the room darkening window shades are not quite enough in some rooms facing directly into the Lighthouse beam. But DO NOT let that deter you. This is a very special getaway. This was our second visit and I'm sure we'll return again.

Being on the northern coast is a welcome contrast to our valley home. Being on the ocean is a "natural high." We felt so comfortable and knowing that our stay helps perpetuate this historical gem made it even more enjoyable.

After a long summer on an intense project, I decided to "kidnap" my husband to a place that we had never been before. The local newspaper did a story on the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Inn and I was hooked. I made a three day, two night reservation and "kidnapped" my husband. The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Inn was the perfect relaxing and unwinding place. We spent three days enjoying the history of the 1909 lighthouse, ate excellent food, read our new books on the sun porch and listened to the roar of the ocean. The staff was excellent and very knowledgeable on the area and Lighthouse history. It was truly a memorable "kidnapping". Sherry Sterrett, Pleasant Hill, California

Aside from being an outstanding bed and breakfast experience, Point Cabrillo Lighthouse Inn allowed us an experience few people have: to be in the presence of a working lighthouse at night, the beam calibrated to repeat at a certain time interval and to signal ships at sea for miles. We got a sense of the awe and loneliness that lighthouse keepers of the past might have felt for this impossibly picturesque seaside.

So much more than a B&B - the Lighthouse Inn is truly an experience. The views are stunning, and the attention to detail in the restored lightkeeper's home and surrounding property is remarkable. Jim Kimbrell, both innkeeper and lighthouse keeper, makes the unique history of the lighthouse and the rugged coastline it watches over come alive. Last, but not least; breakfast is to die for. For three nights I called the Lighthouse Inn at Point Cabrillo home. What a beautiful spot. Morning walks along the cliffs were dotted with sightings of deer, seals, and several species of birds. The rooms were beautiful and the breakfasts were treats for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Close to many state parks and other good daytime activities. The lighthouse tour was not at night as advertised, but we enjoyed our after-breakfast glimpse into the history of the place. I'd book there again in a flash.

Even though it our stay was a wedding gift. The best, value inasmuch as all the proceeds benefit the preservation and maintenance of the lighthouse and grounds. The accommodations and food is superb but not to be second to the staff and service. The smiling faces and eagerness to please is around every corner. Jim adds the finishing touches to all with his expansive knowledge of the history of the facility and personal experiences with lighthouses. It’s wonderful to find a man who truly loves his work. The weather was beautiful during our visit and we experienced dolphins cruising up the coast the first morning with coffee and a pod of Humpback whales the next morning. Wildlife abounds throughout the property and we had a goose that followed us around the lighthouse in the morning like a pet. Mendocino Café in Mendocino and Sharon’s in Fort Bragg are very tasty places as well. Enjoy your stay and know your dollars are well spent. Jerry and Morning, Fair Oaks,, CA.

Having visited this area for over 26 years , this was the first time we have stayed at the Lighthouse Inn. From the time we arrived and received a warm greeting from Sylvia , until the day we departed , the people made a tremendous impression on our stay. Knowledgeable , friendly , caring staff always eager to help and offer advice about restaurants or places to see and visit in the area . Jim Kimbrell has a love and a passion for this Inn and the Lighthouse that showed in every little detail , from the fine food and its presentation to the beautiful furnishings and woodwork in the house itself.... To add to a great stay was the weather . Warm days and still , cool nights with a full moon shining down illuminating the area while the sounds of crashing waves could be heard afar. The rooms are good size , clean and comfortable. We did not stay in the room very long as we had a full schedule of things to do. We will stay again .
