We had not stayed at Select Registry inns before but we will certainly search them out in the future. This bed & breakfast is a hidden jewel and we wish we had found it sooner. Opened in 2004 by innkeepers Greg and Mary, it is a charming casually elegant 7,000 sq ft home with 5 rooms to choose from. We stayed in the Old West room which has a queen 4-poster bed, 2 comfortable wing back chairs, a balcony overlooking the pond at the back of the 11 wooded acres. Peace & quiet reign here as we never heard any outside noise. This inn is for sale because of two hurricanes and the current downturn in the economy, so if you want to experience delightful hospitality, superb breakfasts, a wonderful place to unwind, and charming innkeepers, go see them quickly. Wish we had found this inn when they opened because we would have been here every year.

We stayed one Friday night in June for a little anniversary getaway. It was very peaceful and relaxing, and Mary honored our request for the great chocolate gravy we'd read about! We'll definitely be back and we plan on joining they're savers' club; check it out!

My husband and I decided to try a B&B for the first time this year to celebrate my Birthday. We didn't have any expectations but we did expect something different from a Hotel. We were blown away with Mary and Gregs hospitality. I requested a nice picnic to be in our room for the first night stay. It was wonderful. We didn't have to leave the house for anything. The grounds were lovely. The atmosphere was splendid. We slept in the Grand Room where the bed was made for wonderful DREAMS and the Garden Tub was just Serene. Mary's breakfast was awesome. The Chocolate Gravy was very tasty along with the Hot Biscuits. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to get away to the Hideaway again.

We found Montrose Hideaway Bed-and-Breakfast Retreat offered many wonderful treats. The location is lovely and so conveniently located close to Fairhope. The secluded house offers enjoyable privacy and is decorated so tastefully. Greg and Mary made us feel comfortable and welcome. Our room was beautiful, and we didn't have to purchase any beverages or snacks as they were bountifully provided. Mary's breakfasts were absolutely delicious! They both dined with us at breakfast. We have stayed at several other bed-and breakfasts and did not receive this type of hospitality.

My first stay was a business trip -- a planning retreat with co-workers. My second stay was our 25th Wedding Anniversary in the Grand Master. Dinner at a nearby restaurant was wonderful and brunch at the Hideaway was excellent. Greg and Mary are superb hosts. We would recommend Montrose Hideway to anyone wanting to get away. Actually, we have.

Our son recently moved to Daphne, AL and we wanted to visit him from our home in Pennsylvania. We searched Google for motels which also presented this B&B. It seemed like a good alternative for our 3 day stay so we reserved the Old West Room. It was the best travel decision we have made. You will not find better hosts than Mary and Greg. We concur with all of the previous reviews; the location (so peaceful), breakfast (incredible - we skipped lunch every day!), hospitality (you feel immediately at home), furnishings (comfortable and welcoming, inside and out), everything was wonderful. We also had the best night's sleep of our 2 week trip thanks to the memory foam mattress. If you stay at the Hideaway, take time to enjoy the variety of photographs that adorn the walls, taken by talented photographers, Mary and Greg. We would like to thank them for introducing us to chocolate gravy - our favorite. Our only regret is that we did not get to spend more time at the Hideaway to relax and enjoy the property, our hosts and other guests. We love the area and hope to return soon. Montrose Hideaway is the only option for us.

Greg and I enjoy offering a place to relax and rest for all our guests. When visiting family or friends it often works out better for everyone to stay somewhere else. But that doesn't mean you should settle for a motel or hotel room when you can literally make yourself at home. As for those of you who have never heard of or tried chocolate gravy, you're in for a treat that is every chocoholic's dream, whether on a warm biscuit or fresh strawberries. Yum!

We have stayed at many B&B's but this one is and exception. Mary and Greg are a credit to B&B's. The property is so beautiful and relaxing. It sits off this lovely drive, so from the start it is relaxing. The rooms are so quiet, we never heard anyone else and all rooms were occupied. They are beautiful and everyone has a balcony so you can sit out and enjoy the birds and the property. Don't let Mary say she is not a gormet cook, every breakfast was great, we were there for (3) three nights and every breakfast was great. I do want to say we had an emergency call our last night, my Dad had a heart attack, which was of great concern to Mary and Greg, breakfast was served to us which was not necessary, but was appreciated since we had a long drive to Texas, and off we went. As it turned out my Dad did well and we plan on going back for more R&R. (enjoy Porkey too, you will know who he is). The area has everything you could want to do, or just to do nothing at all. They know where to send you to eat as well!! Please go and relax!! Thanks Mary and Greg.

Our inn is also our home, so we consider all who enter to be extended family. So when a "family member" receives upsetting news while here, we take it personally and do all we can to provide whatever comfort we can, even if it's just lots of hugs and a bag of goodies for the road. As for Porky, he is our very old, very independent cat. If you're allergic to cats, you don't have to worry about him hopping into your lap. But he will allow you to see him from time to time between naps.

The Montrose Hideaway Bed-and-Breakfast Retreat truly lives up to its name. It is in fact a great retreat from the fast paced world. The facility is beautiful, clean, comfortable,and provides a very restful experience. Innkeepers Mary and Greg McNair are wonderful hosts. They made sure our stay was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and the food is of gourmet quality. The evening cookies are also a real treat. I highly recommend this facility to anyone. This B&B is a perfect "get away".

Thanks so much for the glowing review. We love sharing this special place with our guests. We feel blessed to have found this private oasis where folks can enjoy some peace and quiet as a break from alway being on the go. I've never considered myself to be a gourmet cook, but I really enjoy seeing guests leave the table full and satisfied. In fact, most guests say they skip lunch, which just leaves more time for exploring the area or relaxing. It's definitely the kind of place you want to be for more than one night so you really get a chance to enjoy your surroundings.

We wanted to get away before baby #2 joined the family. We'd never stayed in a B&B before, but now staying in a hotel will always be a letdown. The warm hospitality, excellent breakfast, and most of all- getting to know other travelers over a leisurely breakfast made our stay awesome. Even my husband, a frequent business traveler who is accustomed to the anonymity of a hotel, mentioned the conversations as his favorite part of the whole experience. Greg and I especially enjoy guests such as these who are getting the bed-and-breakfast experience for the first time. We see ourselves as not only trying to provide service that will have our guests wanting to come back again and again to our inn, but as ambassadors for the bed-and-breakfast experience overall. It is true that once you have enjoyed the uniqueness of staying in B&Bs, it's hard to make yourself go back to hotels and motels for extended vacations. And the conversation with guests at breakfast is our favorite part, too. It never ceases to amaze us how people from different walks of life and in different stages of their lives can sit down together for brunch and always find something to talk about, sometimes finding it hard to leave the table. Innkeeping is about the people and offering a special place to kick back and enjoy life, so we hope that those reading these reviews will hear themselves in the words and come enjoy the B&B experience personally.

There are two large living areas on the first floor where guests can gather to visit, play a board game or cards, or work a puzzle. A baby grand piano is provided for guests who play or for use during special occasions, such as weddings or receptions. Also, wireless Internet access is available in the first-floor common areas and on the deck for guests with laptop computers that have wireless capability.The Grand Master is the largest and most luxurious room. It includes a king-size bed, full-sized sofa, oversized leather recliner, desk with Internet access, armoire with TV/VCR/DVD/CD, clock/radio/CD and large private balcony. The luxury bathroom has his-and-hers sink areas (each with a hairdryer), and a bathing room with a large walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub surrounded by mirrored walls accented with 48 candles. A large walk-in closet has the iron/ironing board, luxury robes and slippers.
