My husband & I reserved a room for 2 nights, only to be told by the innkeeper at 1:00 p.m. the next afternoon (after one night) that "checkout is at noon"). His records are kept in a pocket spiral notebook. I clearly asked for two nights when I made the reservation, but we were asked to leave after one. Obviously, he either misunderstood or did not record it correctly. In addition, when I sat down in the chair in the corner of our bedroom, I saw something under the edge of the bed. Thinking my husband had missed picking up a sock, I got up to pick it up. Imagine my dismay when it turned out to be a pair of men's underwear missed by housekeeping. It makes me wonder if the floor was even vacuumed before we checked in--it would have been picked up if it had been! The breakfast was very good and the service by the staff was good as well, but the owner was in blue jeans, which surprised me. The location is poor, with very unsightly views from the side. The rooms had no ventilation and were stuffy--the bathroom fan was not operational. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was the only thing that made sleeping possible. The pantry never did have any fresh coffee, even though there was a coffee making system there. I would not recommend this B & B, nor would I stay there again. We were very disappointed for the $ spent. View Reviewer Info

| Innkeeper Response |
After four and a half years of inn keeping this is our only negative review and we are deeply disappointed that this guest was not 100% satisfied. It is no doubt embarrassing for a guest to be asked to leave and we do so only as a last resort. This guest’s reaction however is unfortunate. We double checked our dual reservation recording system first before knocking on their door. They left in a huff, without sharing their complaints nor allowing us the opportunity to swipe their credit card or make any kind of amends. With the review they have left I am surprised that they wanted to stay another night. The truth is that I often do wear blue jeans and the breakfasts we serve are superb. These guests were the last to register for the last suite we had available for one night only. They arrived early and stayed late. They must have taken the underwear with them because we have not had any turn up. Currently our back yard does have some painting ladders and equipment stored there for the winter. The bath ventilator is a deluxe humidity sensing type that comes on and goes off automatically - there is no switch. We have fresh coffee every morning and in the evenings upon request. Guests have 24hr access to our fully stocked complementary butler's pantry that contains numerous snacks and beverages. Our goal here at The Anniversary Mansion is to provide an environment where every guest experiences the luxurious pampering they deserve.
