I stayed at the Storybook Inn for three nights in May and couldn't get over the level of hospitality and care demonstrated by gracious host, Elise. Every aspect of my stay was the definition of perfection. The home is exquisitely decorated and extraordinarily clean, the grounds are expansive and lovely, it's quiet, and last but not least, the food was outstanding. Breakfasts were a delicious treat each morning, with attention paid to healthful preparation and accommodation made for my special dietary needs. Evening treats were a temptation gladly indulged. Elise and her gracious assistant made sure I lacked nothing. Can't wait to come back!

We ate breakfast at the INN and Elise was so sweet and her breakfast's were out of this world. what we liked most about the food is that she has alot of knowledge on healthfoods and eating healthy and she made her breaksfasts incredibly delicious but still maintaining the health factor. I had no idea healthy could taste so irresistable! The rooms at the inn all were themed nice too. the Casablanca room was our favorite in appearance. Although we did not stay at the Inn, Elise gave us a tour one morning after breakfast. I would rate this beautiful place 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone we know. we will definately go back if we are in the area again. it is a great place to stay if you are traveling to the Bourbon trails.

Indeed, this beautiful old house is a home. The very walls seemed to reverberate with joy and love. Our brief stay was a respite from our hectic lives. We felt so at peace that we did not want to leave. A Storybook Inn is a special place. Elise, the innkeeper, and Caroline, the cook, are beautiful, faith-filled ladies who listened to God’s call and are doing exactly what they were meant to do – cherishing their guests as though they might be entertaining angels. We are definitely going back!

Our litmus test for hotels, restaurants and B&Bs is the question; “would we come back?” Storybook Inn is of the few B&Bs where we look forward to visiting again. The Inn is wonderfully and tastefully decorated and at the same time very comfortable. The large outdoor screened in patio overlooking the grounds and gardens is especially relaxing with a glass of wine. The breakfast was great and Elise has obviously been blessed with the gift of service. She has not missed any detail of comfort and convenience. We've been to many bed and breakfast inns in the past, but nothing matches A Storybook Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were treated not only as family, but as honored guests. Our accomodations were superb - I can't think of a thing I would change. Every detail was thought out - there was even a flashlight in the bedside table drawer. Our room was lovely (Gone with the Wind suite) with a huge king sized bed, sitting room, and bathroom with a double shower. We were there for three days and every breakfast was perfect and delicious. Fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, and a different entree each day that was gourmet quality. You definitely don't go away hungry, which has happened to me in some B & B's. The grounds were beautiful - an enclosed garden with fountain, a huge fenced front yard with a beautiful carpet of green lawn, ample parking in the back. An added bonus was a park (one block away) that had a little stream and walking trails - perfect after our breakfast. All in all, I would definitely go back to A Storybook Inn the next time we're in Lexington. Elise (the proprietor) and Carolyn will make you feel very special indeed. I highly recommend this B & B.

To help us enjoy our winter weather, Elise even went so far as to go and buy sleds so that we could play and enjoy the snow! The food was incredible and planned to our preferences. We had our wedding there, and took advantage of the beautiful seasonal decorations to add to the atmosphere. We were able to comfortably fit 30-40 people inside the Storybook Inn, with room for more. For a springtime wedding, the surrounding courtyard and grounds would be available to accommodate more guests. Wow! Words cannot describe how wonderful this Inn is. The bedrooms were immaculate, as well as the rest of the house. It is a grand old fortress that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The Innkeeper, Elise greets you with a warm smile and really goes out of her way to see to your needs. She gave us great tips on where to eat and sights to see. She makes herself very available and answered all of our questions that we had about the area. We experienced many of Elise's special touches during our three day stay. We had fresh flowers in our room, and complimentary chocolates, popcorn, sodas, and water were available for everyone. It was especially nice at the end of the day to come "home" and have a glass of wine and a fresh baked goody. The breakfast's that Elise prepared were delicious and plentiful. She has a wonderful helper named Carolyn. We looked forward to breakfast in the mornings on the porch as Carolyn always had a smile on her face, and couldn't do enough for us. Her and Elise are a great team and they make it look easy to run a Bed and Breakfast. Their only goal was making sure our stay was the best it could be. In our hurry up world of today it was wonderful to be pampered, and to truly feel that you were put first. Thank you so much. All the Best, Greg and Sandy

The beautiful home was spotless, had a wonderful library and relaxing sunporch, and an excellent massage therpaist I utilized. The innkeeper has a true passion for sincere hospitality and I was blown away by her "healthy decadence" at breakfast. She was such a joy to talk with and the home and little town was just the little retreat away we needed. We will definitely return to try another room!

Neither words of extraordinary eloquence, nor images of artistic acclaimation could adequately capture the rapturous delight which I experienced during my all too brief stay at the appropriately named A Storybook Inn. The incomparable beauty, comfort, and service are what await all who are fortunate to visit this oppulent oasis in the heart of Kentucky. The Innkeeper and her staff extraordinarily anticipate and graciously satisfy their guests' every need with unmatched southern hospitality and charm. To miss a night at A Storybook Inn is to miss an experience of a lifetime in lodging excellence.

The Storybook Inn without a doubt the most elegant place I have ever stayed. There are no "cut corners" in this Inn and everything from the beautiful decor to the details that make each room special shows evidence of "only the best." Elise is the most gracious hostess and I felt pampered and special throughout my stay. The incredible breakfast was fresh, wholesome, delicious and presented as if by a French chef! I will never forget this restful retreat and will DEFINITELY be back again!

I could not have been more pleased with our September wedding at Storybook Inn. It is truly one of the most beautiful garden settings I have seen. Elise was so helpful and courteous from planning to the wedding day. The inn inself is magnificent. You definitely feel like you have stepped back in time at Storybook (without giving up the modern conveniences of course!) My husband and I visited several potential locations for our wedding and nowhere even came close to Storybook Inn.

The Inn is gorgeous beyond description, and Elise goes out of her way to make everything just perfect, from the accomodations to the amazing breakfasts. Truly a top tier B&B.

The Storybook Inn is truly a wonderful getaway! We stayed in the Gone With The Wind suite for our anniversary, and it was heaven!!! The inn's decor is very well done, lovely artwork throughout. The breakfast was gourmet all the way; the first morning Elise served amaretto french toast with fresh berries and real maple syrup, delicious. There were snacks and wine set out every evening for us to enjoy. And lots of extra amenities in our suite. The massage therapist that comes to you at the inn was the icing on the cake! Many wonderful little shops and resturants just moments from the inn. And of course the beautiful Kentucky horse farms!

"Gone With the Wind Suite"
There is no plaque that says, "Rhett and Scarlett slept here" but you feel as if they could have! This large two room, very private suite, is a delight to the senses. Elegant but not fussy. Gorgeous tall headboard on this magnificent king bed. Sitting room that attaches is deep scarlet red, with a beautiful original oil painting of Vivian Leigh as Miss Scarletby acclaimed local artist Steve Sawyer. This thick mattress with tempurpedic built right in always gets rave reviews by ALL the guests who have visited the suite. Open the armoire. Watch classic or new movies from the libary on the DVD, or VCR, or catch the news or your favorite network show on Satellite TV. Towel warmer, hair dryer, and deluxe lighted make-up mirror. Chintz sofa, antique desk. Savannah daybed, antique chair, 2 fireplaces, and a large new ceramic tile bath with a large two person shower with dual shower heads. WONDERFUL SUITEThe drawing Room of Storybook Inn is a wonderful place to visit or read a book or play the baby grand piano that is kept in tune. Beautiful 31 foot spacious room with amazing detail. It is a refreshing room and not at all stuffy.

We pay homage to both the North and the South in this border state Civil War era home. There is a painting of President Lincoln on one end and one of General Lee. There is also a Civil War chess set for our guests. Sit here and access your laptop via our high speed internet, or step into the library and sit at the desk or down chairs.
So many visitors comment on the freshness of the rooms and the clean smell as opposed to musty, dusty and old. They also comment on how much light is in the home.
Storybook Inn is a haven of peace and is geared to making our guests feel...well...like they have stepped into a Storybook...a very tastefully decorated one. One B&B critic stopped by recently and said, "This is the cleanest, best decorated B&B that I have seen
Enjoy the reflection of the flames on the restored Ash floor as you get cozy on the very comfortable leather sofa or wonderful easy chair with ottoman.Out of view is the cherry armoire that contains TV with satellite, DVD, and VCR. Movies available from the movie library in main house. In warm weather enjoy your coffee or tea on your large private deck with amazing views of the sunrise over a large expanse of acreage. We pride ourselves on using fresh ingredients. We fresh squeeze our orange juice, our fruit is freshly prepared each morning, our whipped cream is fresh and "real." Our premium ground coffee is organic and loved by our guests. Our water is filtered. Our breads made from scratch, and our entrees freshly prepared each morning. After enjoying our breakfast, complete with beautiful ambience and music, and candle light, one truly feels they have had a "storybook" eating experience. And if you have allergies or special needs, let Elise know. She has a nursing and nutrition background as well, and is sensitive to meet the nutritional needs of you, our cherished guests.
Beautiful Storybook weddings take place at the inn.A garden wedding reception in the spring. The old brick ivy covered wall with the arched doorway is the entry into the "secret garden" that many brides opt to use for their wedding and reception.
Beautiful My Fair Lady Suite with it high poster king size bed topped by a Sterns and Foster top of the line mattress set with hypoallergenic [sterile] featherbed is just one of the reasons that guests love this suite. Elegant, bright, welcoming are a few words that describe My Fair Lady suite. With garden views, candles on the hearth, a towel warmer, gorgeous antique French desk, wing chair and ottoman,walk-in closet with mini-fridge, thick robes, DVD, VCR, Satellite TV, a movie library, lighted make-up mirror, CD player with romantic CD's...are all a few reasons that make this one of our most popular suites! But truth to tell, repeat guests stay in different suites and each one is their "new favorite room."This California couple did not want to leave on this, their 3rd day at the inn. This is one example of the full breakfasts that we serve at the inn. Fresh squeezed orange juice in season [April thru Oct], filtered water, Lemon Poppyseed muffins, Eggs Benedict with REAL hollandaise sauce, Sauteed Russet potatoes, Fresh herbed asparagus, fresh ground organic coffee using filtered water, an assortment of teas and freshly prepared fruit with every meal...i.e...Strawberry Parfait, Fresh sweet melons, Fresh pineapple/Banana/Whipped cream parfait, etc.
Ah...Casablanca. Many people's favorite suite! MUCH larger than appears in photo! Golden hued Casablanca has thick sisal wall to wall carpeting, oriental rugs, antique Chesterfield sofa, carved sleigh bed and large armoire, build in cabinetry, walk in closet with mini-frig, thick robes monogrammed with Storybook, large antique writing desk. Leather and rattan chair by fireplace with footstool and side table. Windows going all across room facing wooded park. Bathroom has deep soaking tub, custom curtain on tub, and window. built in cabinetry. Unique "Casablanca" chandelier. Guests say that they want to move into this suite permanently! They also say and I agree, "pictures on the Internet are good, but they don't do the Inn or guest suites justice. Agreed!"Sir Nicholas" the Inn mascot. Nick was 2 yrs old this past July, 2008. Even non-doggy lovers can't resist this sweet, very mellow fellow. He is also "hypoallergenic" which means he does not shed or cause allergy problems, loves to go for walks with guests, and acts as if he thinks that being an inn dog is a great life.
Civil War chest set for our guest's enjoyment. This old Antebellum mansion that houses A Storybook Inn, was home to the same family from 1840's to 1966. The maternal side had fought on the side of the South and the paternal side, on the side of the Union. The war was not discussed by the generations of this family in order to "move on." We honor both sides in this border state, having also a painting of General Robert E. Lee and President Abraham Lincoln in our beautiful drawing room. The bathrooms are detailed as well as the suites. This, the "Casablanca" bath, has a handmade fringed chandelier from the Middle East, a towel warmer, a soaking tub with shower, built-in original cabinetry, original porcelain floors, lighted make-up mirror, hair dryer, custom drapes and shower 9-foot long shower curtain, custom "Storybook" natural toiletries, and thick premium towels.
With fan window over and ornate divided windows beside the extra thick, black glossy raised panel front door, this entry way is a fitting front entry to this lovely Inn. The columns remind one that this home was here before the War Between the States took place. Inside, it is a place of welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Come and see for yourself!A Storybook Inn's dining hall is outstanding. A room so lovely with such rare architectural design, one must see it to appreciate it. With ornately framed oil paintings adorning the walls, large fireplace, the 4 large windows, and original deep coffered ceiling, Bose speakers hidden away on the deep molding, thick Oriental rug, Chippendale banquet table and chairs, 3 individual tables for two, lovely china, crystal, quality flatware...and oh yes, food as lovely to look at as to eat! The double French doors lead to the Victorian screen porch. All of this goes into making this room a favorite with guests.
Victorian Screened covered veranda much the same way it was over 150 years ago. Faces out to the waterfall fountain in stone faced fish pond and rose gardens. A Storybook Inn in the Spring
Window in the large elegantly appointed guest Living Room. Spring Wedding on the Victorian covered veranda.
Our wonderful guests enjoying one of our fantastic Storybook breakfasts. Wonderfully detailed original oil portrait of Vivian Leigh as Miss Scarlet O'Hara painted just for our Gone With the Wind suite.
We do seasonal elegantly presented Full Teas at the Inn. All our food is freshly prepared at the inn from quality ingredients. We do Christmas, Valentine, Springtime, June, July and some winter teas. We will advertise our dates or you may inquire by calling or emailing the inn. The Innkeeper's Recipe for Organic Blackberry Breakfast Pudding with warm Canadian Maple Syrup, freshly made whipped cream. This delectible treat is actually good for you!
Our Queen's Crown Amaretto French ToastThis wonderful room really is as beautiful in person, or more so, then it looks in this photo.
