Friendly, helpful hosts Brian & Dana did everything they could to insure a pleasant stay at their B&B, and offered suggestions, maps, and recommendations for things to do, places to dine in the Russian River Valley. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts for 6 mornings in a row, each one was unique and fabulous. The country setting was lovely and relaxed, rooms were clean and very comfortable. If we are back in the area, we will certainly stay again.

The owners first greeted us as we drove up and welcomed us warmly to the main house and our cottage. If you want a getaway with charm, but no hovering with a wonderful complimentary breakfast, this is the place. Add to this the charm and relaxing atmosphere of the main house living area, the clean rooms, pet-friendly and warm hospitality, you will remember this spot and come back time and time again. We will most certainly.

We had an awesome stay at this warm and inviting inn. We spent one night at a different place in town and it was not satisfactory. When we first saw this beautiful house and our very nice cottage, we knew we had made the right choice. Our cottage room was clean, spacious and nicely appointed. The bath was large and almost new. The main house is charming. We enjoyed visiting with our friends in the living room and had a great breakfast in the main dining room. Quiet and relaxing-we will come back! Brian and Dana are very attentive, and make you feel immediately welcomed but give you space at the same time.

This is our absolute favorite B&B and our go-to place to stay whenever we go to the Russian River, Dry Creek Valley or Alexander Valley. Comfortable, peaceful, relaxing, homey yet elegant with hosts Dana and Brian that are absolutely best-in class. This place is a gem!!

We were in the Sonoma and Napa area for a week and the Sonoma Orchid Inn was by far the most enjoyable place to stay. The Innkeepers are very nice and friendly and made us feel like we were old friends. The breakfasts were FABULOUS and the portions were enough to fill us up and then some. Dana and Brian were very helpful as far as making reservations for activities and suggesting local wineries to visit. We were very impressed with their recommendations and they made our trip a success. We will definately stay with them again and highly recommend it.

We booked 3 nights at the Inn last August as part of our tour of North California. I was really looking forward to the stay and we certainly weren't disappointed! Brian and Dana are very kind and attentive hosts. Despite arriving late, we were shown to the place and to our room on the night we arrive and the talk of the gourmet breakfast made my taste buds tingle in anticipation. Every morning we were served a delicious and hearty breakfast, with different dishes everyday. Brian and Dana patiently shared some tips with us on what to see and do. They are passionate about the area and that shows. They will even book a restaurant for you. The guest kitchen is a very nice touch and the chunky chocolate cookies a delight!! We would highly recommend the Inn to anybody, but essentially for a special occasion as it is so plush yet homely and romantic. Well done Brian and Dana, the Sonoma Orchid Inn is a rare find and a true gem.

Brian and Dana were great!! I was looking for a relaxing weekend away from everything that would be accomodating for myself, my girlfriend, and our dog. I did some resesarch and found the Sonoma Orchid Inn. From the website, everything looked great and I decided that I should call them to make sure they were indeed dog friendly. I spoke with Brian on the phone and he assured me that they were. I too his word for it and booked the Sequoia room. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Brian who showed us around the property and common areas. He walked us through the great room and we stopped in the common kitchen where they had fresh baked cookies on the kitchen table. That was our first taste of the delicious cooking that we would experience each morning :) They have a large book with all the local restaurants with directions and maps printed for each one. They offered to help us choose and make reservations. We are pretty self sufficient, but they were there for us whenever we needed anything. Overall, the customer service was top notch and I would definitely visit them again. I will be reccomending them to all of my friends and family.

This was our second year of reserving the Orchid Inn for our Machine Knitting club retreat. Between great meals, restful rooms and the great outdoors (including a yummy hot tub) I know this will be an annual event that we all will look forward to again. Dana and Brian go the extra mile to make a stay at the Orchid Inn, a true experience to be remembered! Claudia

You really must try this cozy quiet retreat, tucked away from the road and within walking (or stumbling)distance to wine tasting at Korbel. That is if you feel compelled to leave your room. I love this place! My hardest decision is which beautifully decorated room to select and when I can return. The breakfast is also wonderful.

Two years in a row our knitting guild has rented rooms at the Inn for a fabulous weekend. Brian and Dana are warm, accomodating and fabulous cooks. The Inn is charming, clean and has lovely comfortable grounds. There are plenty of chairs and places to relax outside. Brian and Dana are only too happy to give you a tour of the chicken coop (fresh eggs for breakfast) and point you on a delightful ten minute walk through the countryside to sample the wines at Korbel winery tasting room. They will make you reservations for dinner wherever you wish. Breakfast is absolutely top notch, and their trademark souffle and French Toast casserole are both gourmet taste treats. Sit in the hot tub after dinner and gaze at the stars. How could life get better? Brian and Dana provide a guest kitchen where you can use the refrigerator, make your own drinks, coffee and tea, and grab a corkscrew and wine glass to enjoy the wines you may have bought at nearby wineries. The living room of the house is for the use of guests and you have available a piano, games, different seating areas and plenty of space to get together with your friends or relatives. Last year we made a suggestion as to how to improve our room, and when we arrived this year, it was done. This year the toilet began draining slowly, but was fixed within a couple of hours of our mentioning it. I highly recommend this Inn for both a personal get away, or for a larger group gathering. The combination of the inkeepers' warmth, hospitality and culinary skills and the lovely old farmhouse are unbeatable.

I've stayed at this inn now several times, and found each room more charming than the last. The proprietors' cooking is both plentiful and delightful (and the cookies are out of this world!) Brian and Dana are so welcoming, I always feel like I've arrived home at my getaway destination.

I am the president of a Bay Area knitting group. For the second year in a row, we held our annual retreat at the Sonoma Orchid Inn. What a perfect place to spend time as a group. We rented the entire B&B and our hosts, Dana and Brian, accommodated us in every way possible. We were able to spread out in the cozy living room or lounge in the sun on the lawn. The rooms had great natural light; but as soon as the sun went down, our hosts were quick to offer us extra lamps so we could knit and chat as late as we wanted. The meals were superb. For an entire year our group has been craving Dana's oatmeal soufflé. It was even better than we remembered. We just got back and we are already looking forward to next year's visit. I highly recommend this place for groups. It's a winner.

The innkeepers at The Sonoma Orchid Inn were made to do what they do. The food was done so well. Dana cooks in an amazing style. He shares much of the bay area food philosophy of chef Alice Waters. Did I mention the cookies? The best cookies ever! Our room was very comfortable, and well furnished, with space for us to spread out. My wife and I slept so well in our accommodations. The bedding was so plush... Not only are the beds comfortable, and the breakfast superb, the innkeepers really know the area. Brain pointed us towards local hikes, wineries, and restaurants that we would have not found on our own. All we did was book a room and show up. Once we showed up, they literally helped us with finding points of interest in Sonoma County . The Russian River runs into the Pacific just down the road 15 or so minutes. We just loved being so close to the sea. Our time at the inn was very restful and nourishing. It's the only place my wife and I want to stay when visiting wine country in Northern California.

My honey and I love the Sonoma Orchid Inn. We've been there twice now and find it simply delightful. The innkeepers are very helpful and make a wonderful breakfast. They even took into special consideration my "South Beach" diet request. The inn's appointments are the right mix of elegant and country with beautiful orchid plants on display throughout. There is a lovely common sitting room/living room also with a nice selection of books and games.

Review Sonoma Orchid Inn formerly Ridenhour Inn, Guerneville, CA

Photo Album

Situated on 2+ woodsy acres above the Russian River, Ridenhour Inn is a peaceful retreat close to all the great activity of the area.

Visit Korbel Champagne Cellars just next door, hike Armstrong Redwoods, catch a sunset on the dramatic Pacific coast.

Breath freely and fully. Sit without interruption inside or out, get toasty in front of the living room fireplace.
Our gourmet breakfasts are a hit with our guests.
