We stayed in the Parkview room for three nights during a late summer heatwave in Seattle. The room was exactly as it appeared on the website and had plenty of storage space. It was a bit too hot to take advantage of the hot tub, but the bed was large and extremely comfortable and there is a “day bed” which was good to lounge around on.
The house is beautifully decorated throughout. Green Lake is directly across the street and is beautiful and you can enjoy a lovely afternoon ramble there. We ate at some of the local restaurants, all of which were very good, and Julie has a very informative folder of all the local restaurants arranged by distance from the guest house – what a great idea!
Breakfast was fantastic – and abundant! We found that we didn’t need much lunch, and any mid afternoon hunger pangs were swiftly dealt with by the delicious cookies and other sweet treats that Julie made every day. The 24/7 sodas and water were much appreciated too – a nice touch!
Julie and Blayne are great hosts, it was a shame that we were out doing things every day and didn’t have much of a chance to spend a lot of time talking with them (or indeed the other guests who were also lovely).
I am so glad that we didn’t stay in town, it was an easy 10 minute walk plus 15 minute ride into downtown Seattle, the buses were easy to use even for us Brits (and the bus drivers are very helpful), and the neighbourhood is very welcoming – there were no places where we felt vulnerable as tourists.
As well as fridge containing the 24/7 sodas, the landing has a bookcase with plentiful books and magazines to read, and a fantastic library of Oscar winning/nominated DVD's which we made full use of.
We will definitely stay here when we are next in Seattle.
Thanks to Blayne and Julie (and Emma the beagle!) View Reviewer Info

You could not ask for a better place to stay! The rooms are immaculately clean and the owners, Blayne & Julie McAferty, make you feel right at home. Julie fixes breakfasts fit for a king or queen, very delicious and filling. Sitting at the breakfast table visiting with the other guests, with some prompting from Blayne, was a wonderful way to start the day. In the sunroom, Julie always had freshly baked cookies, brownies or fresh fruit along with a hot pot of water ready for making your favorite warm late night snack at the end of a busy day.
There was a laptop computer available for use in the living room that came in handy for printing our boarding passes for our flight home. If you have your own laptop, they provide you access to their wireless service. There was also had a binder full of information on local places to see, shop and eat that Julie updates regularly.
The location was perfect, across the street from Greenlake which has a 2.8 mile path around it for early morning strolls, evening walks, jogging or rollerblading, if you're so inclined. It's a beautiful, serene and safe area with places a short walking distance away to eat or have a snack. The trip into the city of Seattle to see the sites is just a 15 minute drive away.
We highly recommend the Greenlake Guest House for a quite, relaxing, home-like place to stay. Our daughter, who lives in Seattle, found this place for us to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. She certainly picked a great place! My husband even enjoyed it which is saying a lot as I have a hard time getting him away from our home in Texas!
Please know that you won't find a more enjoyable place to stay. We rate it as an A++++, 5 star experience.

Stayed 3 nights (check-in on Monday, check-out on Thursday)
at the end of July to rest and wind down
after a business trip to Seattle.
I wanted to check in earlier, which I could (1pm).
The first good surprise was that the room was even ready
before standard availability time when I arrived.
The check-in process was accurate and straightforward.
A couple e-mails were exchanged before my visit,
so basically nearly everything had been dealt with in advance.
Both the bedroom and bathroom are exactly as described
on the website, extremely comfortable and with more
than enough storage space for the luggage.
The Greenlake Guest House is well decorated and maintained.
The surroundings and the Green Lake constitute
beautiful scenery along which one can walk, run or rest.
The secure WiFi Internet connection offered to the guests
worked immediately and reliably.
I could use it consistently from my room as well as
from the common living room.
The Innkeeper, Julie, is very helpful and goes out of her way
to ensure a memorable stay.
The breakfast is served between 8am-9:15am and -
as Julie is an excellent cook - is a great way to start the day.
There is a standard breakfast menu,
but alternative options can be flexibly selected,
and additional servings are available.
Bottled water, sodas, fruits and delicious home-made cookies
are available 24/24 in the common areas.
Would I come back to Greenlake Guest House?
Yes, definitely.
